Another day, another Keychron! They have expanded into Hall effect keyboards, which of course drew my attention. Hope you enjoy the video!

Someone send Thomas a single HAL key ergo keyboard. The character you type depends on how many micrometers you depress the key...
Oh dear xD .
My brother in law is a neurosurgeon. Maybe I'll gift him one of those - I can't imagine anyone else I know having the motor skills to use it well
@@Chyrosran22we need some "waning" content...
Another great t-shirt. Hail to the magnificent Manuel Calavera! :)
This deck of cards is a little frayed around the edges. Then again, so am I, and I've got fewer suits!
The Grim Fandango (best adventure game ever) T-shirt easily steals the scene from the keyboard itself. 😆
Knobs and dongles. Heehee.
I've been bouncing between the idea of getting a Wooting or a Keychron for a while now, this keyboard certainly isn't making it any easier to decide.
No comparison from a build quality perspective. Q series is amazing. Can’t tell you on the Rapid Trigger functionality. I grabbed a Melgeek Cyber01 just to try an HE board out, but haven’t had a chance to really play with it.
Hee, Grim Dango gg.
its not scripted, "uh, it happens I have a wooting here"
I still love you
Hah, I honestly didn't script that xD . I was giving myself a break from stupid tiny keyboard layouts with a proper keyboard, if you must know :p .
@@Chyrosran22 That sounds like huge praise for Wooting, that you use it for pleasure.
@@leonawroth2516 I do, it's a great keyboard! Definitely one of my go-to's.
@@Chyrosran22 do you think an upgrade to the new he version is warranted?
As a gamer I like the rapid trigger action, but my keyboard is still working fine :x
@@leonawroth2516 I'm not 100% sure what you mean but if you mean their new keyboard, I'm supposedly getting one in the future!
It will come down to their software. An HE keyboard with bad software is a smooth doorstop.
Thanks for the video! On a side note, you're hitting some of my pleasure points....love the Grim Fandango tee. Also, is that a Bailey's w/ Jameson or a Brandy Alexander on the rocks I see? Either way, Bailey's was one of my favs before I hung it up :)
It's kahlua with vodka and milk! Love Bailey's though, this tastes very similar to it.
I'd love a TKL or ISO 60% version of this.
GRIM FANDANGO!
Wow, that is a surprisingly handsome keyboard.
Seriously it feel like your keychron collection will grow bigger than your vintage keyboard collection
Haha it's not even a fifth of my Focus collection alone xD .
@@Chyrosran22 how many keyboards to you have total now? At this rate you can open a god damn museum.
@@YTesting About 400!
@@Chyrosran22 holy moses
The switches are a variant of the KS-37Bs (dual rail) rather than Steelseries and Wooting’s KS-20s. Basically a brother from another mother.
Ah yes, now I remember! I saw the drawing.
@@Chyrosran22 By the way, not sure if it interests you but you can use the click spring of the Gateron Melodics or KS-22 Blues in the Lekkers, Jades and 20Us to get clicky magnetic switches. The (Clicky) Jades are among the loudest switches I’ve heard so far. I tried it because all Gateron’s Magnetic switches had that fucking click spring slot without them ever releasing clicky versions.
@@mimp8365 Wait... can you please explain this to me? I'm considering buying this keyboard. I am disabled and have problems with my hands. I think magnetic switches where you can adjust the activation point are something for me. But I would also like to feel the clicky switch sometimes. So is it possible to use this keyboard with clicky switches?
Thank you in advance for your reply :)

just got this keyboard yesterday and I love it. Comes so refined right out of the box
I just picked one of these up today - mine is the white version. I'm not sure which one I like the most though.
So, the keyboard with the knob is stiffer than is usual for linear contact free switchs.....
Seriously, I like stiffer linears, love yellow alps. I'll be looking forward to the full review. Great to see you as always Tom.
Cool that its becoming more obtainable
Based off sound alone I prefer the sound of the keydous nj98-cp pro you reviewed a couple months ago. Maybe you can make a magnetic keyboard sound comparison round-up after you review the q1 he
Excellent video, mate! Got my Q1 HE a few days ago. Same style as yours. Looks great! I Love everything about this keyboard EXCEPT the hot-swappable switches don't wanna be swapped. Can't believe how easily you popped off that switch. Mine won't budge at all.
You might call me heavy handed, but I'd love an optical or hall effect linear switch with +-80g actuation force.
Please see how your ceramic keycaps do on it I got them both on the way and would love to see it and hear it with ceramic keys
I've been daily driving the Keychron Q5 Max with Gateron Jupiter red switches for about 2 months now and really enjoy it. I'll be waiting for the review on this guy. Cheers!!
I wish they'd add an extra key on the right. i like having PgUp,PgDn,Home,End as i use those all the time.
Welp... Looks like im getting another Keychron 4 years and 3 countries later in my journey. Love my k6 and will be using it still on the side desk.. But this will be taking over my main work/gaming station when they release it, HE is the future and they even included double actuation points and many other features the magnetic boards have been providing. Great unboxing and looking forward to the in depth once you break into the operation characteristics and programming of the board. Mahalo and Aloha
I have the same keyboard as you. I will unbox it tonight after school
@9:00 That is nicely silent. Interesting indeed that they would be stiffer. Looking forward to the full review!
Always enjoying your clear English pronunciation. 🙂
The dual Mac/Windows compatibility is one of my favorite parts of a Keychron.
What is the keyboard with the pastel cyan keys you showed for a couple of seconds? Is this also a Keychron with mag switches?
Wooting
4:30 for some reason you can use normal switches as well
„There she blows!” Melville? LOL! 🙂
[re: white russian] "yeah well, that's just like, your opinion, man."
Careful man, there's a beverage here!
got mine today
hehe, knob
Tell them to make an ISO version and then I'll maybe get one
it already exists! only for the barebones version though so keycaps and switches are bought separately
@@albingrahn5576 yes but I can't buy the hall effect switches separately can I ?
Unless I'm retarded and can't find them on their website. It's not the normal cream yellows it's the magnetic cream yellows, right?
"My time in Brittan"
Wat?
I lived in the UK for 4.5 years.
Whisky today here 🥃 good choice mate.
Which one are you having? ^^
Hate the drinking noises, love the shirt.
I wish keytron would sell their he boards in ISO.
They do?! My first keychrone from second hand was ISO.
@@FlexStudioPL And it's Hall Effect?
ISO is awful, I'm glad I dumped that shit.
I can't see how one can type on keyboard with tiny left shift key. And why one would need duplicated key. ISO is inferior.
@@reav3rtmwhich key is duplicated?
The sound is kinda plastic-y and don't have that aluminum case's thickness to it
Magnetic Jade time.
It IS an aluminium case though xD .
@@Chyrosran22 welcome to magnetic keyboards except for really old ones. The micro switch and Honeywell keyboards sound great though.
