By now, everybody have heard the news that Airbus is shutting down the A380 project after only about a decade of sales. This is a sad day for all of us that marvelled over the engineering wonder and fantastical machine the A380. It was, however, not a surprice. Those of you who have followed my channel knows that I did a video on " Why the Super-Jumbos are failing" about a Year back in which I predicted exactly this.
In todays episode I will speak a little bit about the crown prince to the Mighty A380, the very cool loocking Airbus A350. I had the chance to fly that aircraft over from Barcelona to Doha (as a passenger) and took some video of my feelings about it. I also got to fly the B787, on the second leg from Doha to Krabi so I had the chance to compare the two and the result is surprising!
Enjoy this episode my friends. I had no intention on making an episode while I was down here on vacation but due to some problems with the intended video, I had no choice but to pull this one out of the hat. I am suprimely sorry about the sound on the interim videos, I had no intention of actually using them on the channel but here I am... using them. 😳

A350 review?? I want to see the A350 unboxing video!
Lol
With the unboxing videos of the stewardess on board
How about a teardown video?
It’s a flying multi port USB charger!
If only we had smellatizers to experience that new plane smell as we watched...
Your ad-hoc video was a lot better than many RUclipsrs 'regular' ones!
😂 😂 😂 I agree with that
This is terrific!!!
I totally agree with that
Absolutely. It's the difference between someone inside the industry and just regular folks like you and I (even though we may be aviation geeks).
@5:51 thats a boy who is very proud of his dad, for good reasons :)
Good news to the passengers on that flight. They got an extra captain so if anything happens, someone can help
It’s so heartwarming seeing how your son is looking excited about everything, reminds me of myself as a kid, seeing how I’m still very young and that part of my life was not that long ago. That’s how the passion towards aviation is born.
It just isn't the same without the dog jumping everywhere
@jet guy it's shorts, not underwear, don't worry 😉
I missed the Dog too
He loves the camera
Mentour we missed your lovely dog. You should consider bringing her in a flight too. LOL
Wait a minute! I thought you were born with the pilot suit.
He had surgery
Sad news for everybody ! I love to film A380
Sorry to hear that my friend, but they will be around for more than a decade more.
@@MentourPilot That's a good news !
The way it was announced, you would have thought in 2021 all the A380's would suddenly disappear.......and you never know, changing demands may mean that the production line will be started again, who knows.... Great podcast as usual.
Sad news? It is good news for everybody. Climate change is a serious issue.
I started loving aviation because of A380. I flew Singapore to Melbourne in an A380 and I was just overwhelmed by it's sheer size, comparative stable flight (it's has a lot of inertia, it takes a lot of turbulence to rock it), and how comparatively quiet it was. If 747 is the queen then the A380 is definitely the king. I don't care if it's economically viable or not. It's an engineering marvel and one of the greatest planes ever built.
Awesome little emergency video! Smart thinking Petter when recording on the A350!!
We all can see that you love aviation and your enthusiasm is still great in spite of the years that you spent in the operation. No matter if you sit on 40B or setting takeoff thrust by yourself on the flightdeck. So nice!
Thanks for the review. I have not yet flown on the A350, but I did fly a few days ago on a 787 Dreamliner from Bangkok to Tokyo (Narita). To me, one of the most obvious user design flaws of all the Boeings is that the electrical outlets are under the seat you're sitting in (making it nearly impossible to find and use), rather than on the back of the seat in front of you (which is what Airbus does). This is one simple design detail that makes a huge difference to a long haul flyer. The one thing I did like about the Dreamliner is the larger windows that are set higher up (so you don't have to stoop to look out the window) and the fact that they have electronic tint that can dim all the way to dark. Have a fun vacation in Thailand. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there last week.
It was weird to see you without your uniform on! We just had the Airbus Beluga XL fly around the UK and i managed to see it! Absolute beauty!
Lancashirelad ftfy
Seen it aswell. Looks like a pregnant A380 😅😂😂
Bummer. I've flown on the A380 a number of times, and always liked it. The Emirates A380 business class was absolutely amazing.
I've only done BA and MH in J on the 380, but the EK777 was very good. Wish they'd join OneWorld.
I have been on Boing 787 with Air Canada last year to Vancouver and I was really impressed how quiet this new generation of aircraft is. Way quieter then the 777.
Loved it. Questions. Does the airline not realize you are an international star and should get upgraded to first class (or did you just want the shots of the mechanics of the wing)? How did the people behind you react to your commentary, if at all? When you're sitting way back, are you mentally going through the steps as if you were in the cockpit, or can you just relax? Does your son want to be a pilot like you? Finally, it would be great if you could post the welcome you get from doggo when you return home. Hope you get over the bug and enjoy your vacation. Cheers.
He doesn't want the fame to get to his kid's head so he flies like normal people.
Great questions! I’m sure it’s hard to switch off from pilot mode when flying as a passenger. I was laughing when he son said were flying really really low (over the water when landing). I hate landing by the water !
He said in a live chat that he wished he could be in business class and even jokingly hinted to the airline to give him an upgrade if they were listening. He probably flew economy not to see the wing, but because it's so freaking expensive to fly business class. I splurged on a business fare to Australia, and the airfare was more than the entire rest of the trip. I could only afford it because I am traveling alone and had to buy just one ticket. It was a once in a lifetime splurge. It's economy from now on!
I've only ever flown small craft, but yeah, I usually find myself thinking about checklists and procedures when the plane is getting ready for takeoff and landing.
Upgrades are very rare these days and only the highest frequent flyer status passengers get upgraded. QR is particularly stingy with upgrades. They monetise their available premium seats through paid upgrades, so there is almost zero chance of an OP UP.
Hey man, love your channel and just wanted to say thanks. I've never been quite so interested in aviation before.
Woow a captains view from economy seat long haul flight vlog. Thats something different, than most 1st class fly around the world vloggers.
Absolutely loved the pilots commentary from a passengers point of view. For example, calling the 600ft bank during take off and then seeing it happen just seemed so cool!!
Mentour, I was in Barcelona in October 2018, and your departure from Barcelona El Prat looks so much like mine did on the morning I left! It brings back good memories. We actually made a train trip up to Girona, so I've seen your city, and I reached out to see if you were around to say hi but I made the mistake of not using the app for that! I didn't know exactly which day we were going to Girona either. It's too bad, oh well, maybe another time. Barcelona and Girona were amazing, in Girona I liked the old city walls and the Arab Baths, the cathedral and getting coffee / eating in the old town.
Some aviation highlights of my trip you might like: Chicago to Barcelona was my first 787 Dreamliner flight, with AA, and it was the first time I've been to continental Europe. Shortly after touching down, I watched a Ryanair 737 make the smoothest landing I've ever seen, it just glided gently right down the center of the runway next to us like it was on rails (I thought to myself, bet Mentour's flying that one). I saw my first A380 in person then, an Emirates super parked at the gate. I knew they were big, but nothing prepared me for seeing that 80-foot tall tail up close. The A380 is a mammoth. My return was El Prat to Heathrow on a BA A320 (we flew over Andorra and I grabbed a photo of the stationary Concorde on my way into Heathrow), then Heathrow to the Pacific Northwest on a BA 747-400, my first time on the jumbo. On the way I saw the Westfjords of Iceland covered in snow, and great views of the mountains in British Columbia. When we landed, the crew let me visit First Class and also the cockpit, got to sit in the copilot's seat and talk to the captain!
I took up flight simming over the past year, and after booking my Barcelona flights, I made it my goal to learn to operate every aircraft on my trip from cold and dark before I embarked. I don't think I managed to do that with the 787, but I have learned the 737, the A320 and the 747-400 decently. From that I can tell you, Airbus flaps just have 3 numbered positions and then a "Full" setting I think, and takeoff is usually done with Flaps 2. The A320 is the most detailed aircraft I have for my simulator software and I found it to be the most complicated to fly at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I've been able to start them from cold and dark, navigate and land successfully. Looking forward to trying the A350!
Surprisingly, the first A350 I've ever seen was a China Airlines aircraft parked at sleepy "little" Ontario airport in California, a place I didn't think got that kind of long haul traffic. But they do have 2 long runways, and I guess they are taking some international traffic for LAX now!
Excellent video I learn something new every time I look at your videos. As an aviation enthusiast this is great we get to see a pilot’s explanation of various aspects of flight. I used to work on aircraft engines in my last job , the Pratt and Whitney JT3D , 8D and 9D engines as well as the CFM engine’s and Rolls Royce RB 211. Cheers Eoin.
There is nothing like an airline pilot commenting on a flight as a passenger. Very well done!
Nice video as always. Very happy vacations!!! For you and your family! Enjoy it!
Thanks for the comparison between the 350 and the 787. I look forward to your return flights and any further evaluation. Thanks again !!
Noise comparison on airplanes/cars are all the same. New, they are ultra quiet. After being used for 10 years.... No, not ultra quiet. It would be VERY interesting to know how old each airplane was and the seating spot compared. Noise varies widely with where you sit. That being said, 350 is 10 years newer design so it SHOULD be more quiet you would think. Especially as they KNEW how quiet the 787 was already.
Hey. Wait a second. He used his old intro!
Yeah, I love it :D
I know right. I loved it. 😍😍😍😀😀
first thing I noticed.
Yeah he did. Loved it!!!
Glitch in the Matrix.
Sad to know the A380 is dead. It’s probably one if not the best plane I’ve ever flown in. Sat on the last row in upper deck, and it was super quiet. I would love to see you do a review on the A350XLR from Singapore to Newark and visit my city New York, and let us know how you think a 20+ hour flight is.
3 years later, the A380 is, all of a sudden, making a huge comeback by the chatter going on🙂
Super smooth flight. That increased pressure is nice, too. I know it makes a difference for me when I fly overseas on the 787. I just feel better when I get there. Now I want to try the A350.
Great video ! Hope you’re feeling better and that you and your family have a great vacation!
Thanks for the dedication to share almost everything related to flight and it's operation to the public,a big heart, keep it.all blessings ✌️
can i just say, seeing the a350-1000 at farnbourgh last year, those winglets are the sexiest things i have ever seen on a plane, god they look good
Of course they're sexy, they're Welsh!
@@EASYTIGER10 that is like saying "of course it's dry, it's water" complete contradiction
@@EASYTIGER10 i dont find sheep sexy im afraid
Yet to fly the A350 (will be in June) but if it's anywhere close to the A380 then your statement at the end about its quietness and comfort compared to the 787 ‘Screamliner’ is spot on. The latter is one heck of a noisy rattly aircraft that smacks of cutting comfort for sake of weight and cost which the airlines would love. Will report back in June when I fly the Qatar A350 & A380 back to back on return from vacation.
Great video Petter. Have a wonderful vacation and hope you're feeling better.
I always wanted to comment and just say how much of a badass and awesome guy you are. Whenever a video drops I save your video till I can watch it somewhere where I can listen and think about what your saying. I’ve followed you ever since I had a very crazy and frightening flight that could have been disastrous but the pilots wife was next to me informing me of everything, even when we finally emergency landed, the pilots wife was telling me everything about the plan and how it worked. It was a very eye opening experience for me and I respect the pilots and there families very much, you guys are truly awesome. Thank you sir 🙏
Great to hear that. I’m happy if my videos can calm and inform you and I’m also happy you are alright after that flight.
The landing in Doha reminds me of landing in St. Thomas (STT), with the runway jutting out into the sea like that. Visitors tell me it is disconcerting, feeling like they’re about to ditch into the sea, then suddenly the runway appears underneath them at the last moment. Me, I’m used to it, so I never thought anything of it.
It's a pity that you started your holiday with a fever. Your voice confirmed that you were not in your best of health. I hope that you'll get well soon and enjoy your holiday! 😊
Loved this video! You’re great! 🙌🏻😊
You picked a good location to vacation in Thailand. My wife is from there so I have been many times and we go again this April times to enjoy Songkran Festival. Thanks for the video. Indeed it sounded very quiet just as I remember the A380 to be. My hometown airline, Delta, is gobbling up a vast amount of Airbus aircraft here lately (A220, A330neo, and A350). I won’t claim either Airbus or Boeing as my favorite since I love aircraft from both. Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy your vacation!
Enjoy your holidays in Thailand! Would love to escape the cold weather in europe as well. Really sad that the a380 will be gone :(
I'm so sad to witness the King of the sky dying....
Controller will never forget the plane with Super call sign, the vortex is powerful enough to flip a 737, and everyone must wait 3 minutes behind to clam the turbulence down.
Airports will never forget the plane that need minimum 3800m of runway, with 570 tons of MTOW, and 853 of maximum capacity.
Travellers will never forget the plane with beds, bars and showers on board, the first true double decker plane.
Pilot's will never forget the plane with cutting edge automation and technologies that left the Queen of the sky behind for good 20 years, mind-blowing 10 big screens and the all new electric powered backup flight control.
That's the Airbus A380, the King of the sky!
Shall you with the Concorde, rest in peace ;-;
Well there will still be 20 or so years of it but yeah, kinda sad really
Well, much like the Queen of the Skies, at least we still have a decent amount of time left with both of them. :)
It is sad to see the 747 and the A380 die out. Both were engineering marvels.
@@person.w9780 The 747 has a much longer future ahead of it carrying freight then the A380 does. Ironically, the 747's designers envisioned that being the aircrafts role eventually. Took a good bit longer then they thought but here we are.
A few A380s will most likely survive carrying special purpose freight like the An-225 does.
@@sparkplug1018 I know. It's still sad to see them being slowly fased out, especially when looking at how common they were just 20 years ago (the 747, that is).
I think the ending of production for the A380 is even more unfortunate as all that tech, work and engineering is just gonna go to waste, so early into it's life.
Thank you for sharing one of my fav video's by you MenTour Pilot 😎 Have a great holidays and we waiting for you here 😊🙂
Great video, Mentour. Enjoy your holidays!

I had been waiting for the new video for days :)
To the beginning of the video, i must say:
That's one smooth ginger swede there.
Having flown on both the 787 and A350 multiple times I would pick the A350. Saying that I have a flight on a 787 next week which I'm still excited about.
great narration about the A350 mentour, sitting behind the wing and explaining how the wing and its assorted flappery works, it was quite audible, thank you.
Thank you for the great vid, @Mentour Pilot and have an APPsolutelyFantastic holiday!

Good to hear
Och jag tänker söka till OSM Aviation academy om 1 1/2 år, för då är jag klar med värnplikten
Great vid! But as a Boeing fan I’m a bit disappointed that the 787 fell short. The 350 is a beautiful aircraft though. Guess Airbus hit it out of the park!
BTW, your little boy is the cutest ever!

A380 is a fantastic product but the market has moved on, love your content.
I haven't tried the 350 yet, but I spent like 10h on an Avianca 787 going to Spain. Really liked it
You will like the a350 just as much
Loved the fan break at 3:36!
Capt your videos are v informative. There is always someone besides you that makes it still more interesting.
Hahaha! Little W
When a pilot flies does he/she introduce themselves to the crew as a professional courtesy?
Also curious to this
I do, but I'm not an airline pilot yet. Just in case something does happen.
WHAAT!! No barking dog? This video was particularly interesting with a pilot giving his comments from the point of view of a passenger.
I enjoyed your pilot's review and prospective of the A350 from a passenger seat and window views. Great video.
Great video, as always and interesting your view as a passenger of an airplane. Enjoy your vacation and the time with your family! Although I must say - I missed your dog a little bit in this video ;-)
Chemtrail nozzle spotted. :P Great videos captain !!
Having flown as a passenger on the 787 and the A350, the A350 is def more comfortable because it's quieter and the start and landing just felt better.
It's also a bit wider, and both aircraft usually come with a 9-abreast configuration, which means that the 350 is a bit more spaceous.
A very enjoyable and informative video, thank you! I enjoyed your passenger perspective. And just for the record: audio, video and everything was fine as it was! Hope your fever has gone, have a great holiday!!
Loved the formation flight & break aways!
how about a vlog featuring Mentour Jr.?
Qatar’s A350s are much newer than their 787s, so they have newer seats and IFE. Perhaps also try the 787 on a different airline as well. 😀
Always enjoy your videos , no matter the format. It takes time to do , edit , upload etc etc .
Nice, Friday (start of college holidays in England) and a mentour upload 👍🏻
I have flown on many different aircraft over the last 40 years and last year I flew on the A350 with Finnair from Singapore to Helsinki and return. I was the best flight I have ever done and highly recommended. Significantly better than my flights on 787 and A380.
Sorry, but nothing is better than the A380. RIP that beast of a plane
@@JimNortonsAlcoholism I have only flown on the A380 6 times and always in economy. Great plane but I found that it was extremely noisy and claustrophobic when crowded as there are a lot of people crowded into the one space. Conversely one flight there were less than 90 people on the plane and we stretched out with complete rows of seats each. That was very quiet. A350 seemed open and airy and very quiet but they were both night flights.
@@DavesIneosGrenadier Did you not notice the lack of turbulence or the abundance of smoothness?
@@JimNortonsAlcoholism It was smooth and quiet which really makes the passenger and staff noise and activity stand out.
oohh casual mentour
Excellent video😊👍Hope you all are having a wonderful vacation.
Great video Petter! Have a nice time with your family :)
It will be interesting if your evaluation remains the same on your return leg flying the 787 first.
I find both aircraft a giant leap forward for the comfort of passengers in economy especially. I also find the A350 to be more comfortable in terms of space and cabin noise. Humidity and air refresh seem equal as I was unable to discern much of a difference between the aircraft. In business they are of equal standing for me as I wear earbuds to sleep to drown out the noise of you tubers from the row in front 🤣. I find your evaluation to be unbiased given you are a Boeing pilot, good effort. Enjoy your holiday and thanks for the interesting videos you post.
Back to back a 380 was better than a 787 as a passenger on Etihad . My last trip to Australia was London to Perth non stop on the Qanas 787 - it was fantastic. Getting on a 737 a few hours later was like going back to a mk2 Golf.
I'm taking the 787 back home to the US after my vacation in Australia this fall. I can't wait!
Andrew Thompson - how long did it take? I am thinking of flying from Hobart to Perth, then doing a direct flight to Frankfurt (if they offer it) when I go to Germany in May.
Darf ich mich vorstellen there’s no direct Perth to Frankfurt flights. Perth to London is about 17:30 that time of year.
@@howlinsg1968 we were very lucky . Only 14:45 lho to per and 15:50 return. We went on to bne.
Hello again it's been a while but lovely video yet again , keep it up my friend 🙂🙂
Thanks for the great vid! I’m a Boeing fan and I’m looking forward to flying the 787 in September!
Welcome to Thailand!
I totally agree. 787 is very noisy compare to 350.
A350 ftw!!! I like Boeing aircrafts but the A350 is a sexy beast.
thx for upload enjoy the vacation!
Great video. I also flew in the a350 last year for the first time, as well as the Dreamliner, albeit on different routes. However, one thing I will say I liked much better about the 787 was the windows, they seem larger than on the a350, and the fact that it has the dimmable windows is fantastic, on my flight, (mel-lax) they dimmed the lights soon after take off, and so even though the first half of the flight was in the sun, you could immediately go to sleep. This was a huge benefit!
I hate those bloody windows. I flew Auckland to Guangzhou on a China Southern 787 and we flew right over Hong Kong in the early dawn and I couldn't see a thing because the windows were blacked out (and the passenger control buttons didn't work). Also the seats were agonisingly hard & uncomfortable. Odd because the old domestic China Southern A320 that followed had perfectly okay seats.
With happy end? ;)
But anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the possibility of the A380 getting back in to production if the demand for this kind of aircraft returns. Do you think it can happen, or do you think that, by that time, it's more efficient to design a whole new aircraft (A390?) altogether?
RIP airbus a380
Feel for the people who built it, have no sympathy for Airbus.
Airbus has a tremendous backlog on other aircraft. They will likely start reallocating their resources to the other aircraft assembly. So really don't have to feel sorry for the workers. They are likely to be still employed. I am sure one of the reasons to close the line is to reallocate resources and assembly space for more profitable aircraft builds.
@@andret4403 are you sure? About 300 people will lose their jobs here in puerto, the south
@@nissansilviakouki Am I sure? No. It is aerospace. I have been working in it over 20 years. I have been laid off. Yes some jobs will be lost. But the reality of the situation is A380 was dying. It was a fact of the change of the industry. More fuel efficient duel engine aircraft. Airbus had to be looking at freeing up resources for the backlog. Will it be one to one from A380 perhaps no. The company I work for employs a sizable workforce in Puerto. There are plenty of planes being built meaning plenty of jobs in the industry right now. Fact is not everyone will lose their job and I am sure they will offer early retirement for those close that don't get placed elsewhere. Am I sure. again no but seems to me they need the people.
How long for the 747 which Mentour has also predicted to have numbered days?
Nice video. As an American living in Atlanta, I was miffed when Delta went with the 350 and dumped the 787. As a high medallion flier, it was nice to hear a pilot's take on the two aircraft. And as a physician and former AME, I'm just a bit worried about your getting a fever an hour or so after takeoff. You may want to see a physician within the next 48 hours if things start to get rough! They might not let you go home. Best wishes from the States.
Superb film Mentour 360! 👌🏼👍🏻
Great Video as always..Near the end he says "hardly any reverse thrust, which will indicate the aircraft is probably gonna stop for a while now",anybody knows why that is?
Because if they wanted to turn the aircraft around quickly, they would have used the reversers to cool the breaks.
Great question!
A380 is a beautiful majestic beast. Still Loving the A350 though!
Sir, this is why I enjoy your channel. You are very down to earth. I would have thought that pilots get to fly first class by default. Nonetheless, it is still refreshing to see that you are humble. Keep up the great work!
Can't wait for the A350 Unboxing!
Haha! I would love to do that
5:26 look at that man 😂
In other news... The Boeing 747 has just celebrated her 50th birthday.
but also in other news Boeing hasn't exactly been making many recently (2-3 per year if that)
@@alanbrown397 Yeah that's true and it probably won't be long until we see Boeing end it's production. However, I would say that a 50 year production run is quite an achievement.
@@steviebrochdale True, but bear in mind only 1750 aircraft made in total and the primary reason for their sales was the need for more than two engines on transoceanic routes before ETOPS was a thing(*). The market for heavies is very _very_ small, which is why first into it won. Lockheed and Douglas both found that out the hard way. Boeing got lucky by biting off more than it could chew with the SST contract and not entering production (Lockheed were expected to win the contract and had the ability), and punting the 747 as a "gap filler" in the meantime. It got even luckier when Airbus decided the market is in Superheavies(**)
(*) In the days of piston-engine airliners with things like Wasp Majors it was relatively common for aircraft to come in at the end of transcontinental flights with only 3 engines turning - plus they always required many hours of servicing _per engine_ before turnaround and had remarkably short on-wing lifespans. because of that history it took more than 40 years for regulators to accept that turbines were massively more reliable than what went before and allow extended operations over water.
(**) Airbus are probably right, but they're 20 years early. Fuel prices are at historic lows due to price wars attempting to bankrupt national producers and should be much higher. We're well past Peak Oil and at some point the prices are going to climb inexorably upwards which will cause a push back to hub/spoke modes again.
Hope you and family have a great time and a safe return. Looking forward to the next video.
Sawasdee Mentour! Welcome to Thailand. Wishing you and your family have a very nice vacation. Enjoy!
A350 .. far more superior than the dreamliner ... I’ve had the opportunity to fly on both Aircraft and the Boeing feels unfinished.. a lot louder .. viabrates and hated that I had no control of the fancy windows at most times ...
Agree, 350-900 is incredible.
I agree that I’d rather fly A350 than the B787 for the same reasons.
Wow, Mentor Pilot, this is GREAT! What a treat to be able to hear a pilot describe takeoff and what we're hearing and seeking. I feel sure that if I had you in a seat near me, explaining, I probably would be an okay flier! (instead of a white-knuckle one!)

Lmao
Enjoyed your vid, as I do all your vids, & I'm not saying you're wrong, BUT...People are constantly comparing the A350 with the 787. Wouldn't a closer comparison be between the A330NEO & the 787? Size & capacity wise it's a closer comparison. I thought the A350 was meant to compete with the new 777X? Pls clear this up for me once & for all. Thank ya 😉
it competes with both the B787 and the B777-200/200ER/300/300ER (...) but not really the B777X, which was launched way later. That's the problem Airbus is currently facing, what to do against the B777X (either a NEO or surrender)
PS: As a reminder, the A350-900 competes with the B787-10 and the B777-200
The A350-1000 competes with the B777-300 and the future B777-8X, the 9X is bigger
This was my thought as well. Also curious about the lighting - people have raved about the great lighting in a 787.
@@matthewball7956 The A350 has a good lighting system too. Don't know which one is the best though.
@@Slyze33 right...basically. The 787 was designed to replace the 757/67, while the A330 was built to compete with the 767, so in that sense, the 787-8/9 & the A330 model(s) are the closest comparison, but this never gets mentioned. Once you start talking about the 787-10, then you can start comparing it to the A350, but only the -900, not the -1000. The A350-1000 was designed to compete w/all but the largest 777X model. I think we're on the same page. My issue is when it's implied (like in this vid & countless others, sry Mentour Pilot) that the 787 competes w/the A350 w/NO EXCEPTIONS. I feel there needs to be an asterisk or something b/c you can't compare a 787-8 to an A350-900 & especially not a -1000. When comparing these 2 aircraft, the ONLY accurate comparison should be between the 787-10 & the A350-900, that's it. The 787-8 & -9 line up more closely w/the A330 models, the 787-10 matches up w/the A350-900, & the 777X (all but the largest version) match up w/the A350-1000...but nobody seems to point this out, it's always A350 vs. Dreamliner, PERIOD, b/c those are the newest airliners out...If people are doing a REALLY accurate comparison, the A330NEO needs to be included in the convo, that's all.
@@matthewball7956 The 787 does make interesting use of the color changing LED's. At the end of a night crossing of the Atlantic, the cabin lights slowly simulate a sunrise, going from red through orange and yellow to daylight blue over about 20 minutes. I don''t know how many passengers noticed it.
Enjoy Cpt. And take care! :) Nice video :)
Having tried both the 787 and a350 I found the a350 to be a lot quieter, and the seats are a bit wider as well. The electrochromic windows on the 787 are cool, but annoying as hell due to how warm they get. Whenever possible I try to fly long haul on the a350.
