this is sound advice, it is a buyers market right now and getting better (if u are a buyer) scoop up the GOATS and cards that are always in demand, and strike when iron is hot in a few years! the prices are high but send offers they know they cant get top dollar, this is where the patients come in.
Great video! The sports card market will continue to decline for years to come. Lots of reasons for the decline. The sports card bubble has burst and the easy money is gone.🤢
Great video. This is the one that people need to watch. All these influencers and other people posting all these videos about making deals at shows are just the same shiny "case hit" cards getting passed back and forth between each other. These people know nearly nothing about cards back more than a few years. No one will give a crap about some Jaylen Waddle kaboom that's getting passed around for hundreds of dollars now, in a few years.
Probably should have used some modern cards for your market update. Eye appeal in vintage is a large part of the value in older stuff. A PSA 2 could have more vibrant colors than the competing 3 and thus sell for more.
First off, you can't compare Buy Now prices to auction prices because auction prices depend on the AMOUNT of people biding on a card. Buy Now reflects the pop count, scarcity and player popularity of a card. It's apples to oranges. 2. How are cards "overpriced" if we're at the bottom??? Your argument defies economic logic. 3. The sports card market and other speculative investment spaces reflects the economy that we're in. We're in the middle of inflation and poor economic stability at this moment.... if the economy improves, I can see the sports card market improving as well.
Ii set up at card shows twice a month and make a minimum $1k profit every time. I also sell on Ebay and make money. How could I make money if the card market is at the bottom - I would have lost money on every card I sell. This guy is out of his mind.
I was only born in 97 but still! Even as a kid growing up with not much internet until maybe 15-16 we used to play road hockey until the street lights came on 😂 I haven’t seen a group of kids playing outside or playing sports (not counting league play that there dad put them in) in way to long 😅
I understand what you're saying, but should we really be comparing a "Buy It Now" price to an auction price? Can the value of a card be said to be determined by supply and demand? Thanks for all the information.
Thanks for your view. Which some makes sense and some dont. The sportscards market and hobby is going pretty stable and its getting more stronger with new people being interested and being cautious and careful what they want to buy or sell. A lot of these people are more patient and smarter than what you are saying. There just being quiet and humble without being any wiser that the next person trying to sell or buy. Sportscards is going good. If you say the sportscards market is going down so is gold and silver right???? Cmon now, look at the convention and nationals and amazon and ebay are still strong. Research your studies more please. Your so negative and grow up
Really enjoy the content. You truely are offering the card community something positive. God forbid, you can actually feel your not trying to take financial gain of a viewer... Bravo.. Keep on educating the younger generation. The coming crash will be far more volatile than anything in the 90s. It will do my heart good to see the cringe personality types slink away..
Thank you. I listend to about 500 videos on cards and just a few (none) taked about the fact that the modern hobby = gambling. Kids who enters "the hobby" enters un world of gambling.
You do know that older autos sell for more than newer autos generally. So it's not a surprise for a 2018 Gooden auto to be more than a 2024 Gooden auto even though they have the same print run. You do know that...right?
I hope prices keep coming down. The people buying for profit are the ones destroying collecting. I collect for the enjoyment and hobby. So yes I hope it crashes. Also grading has been corrupted, so that's an issue for me as well.
Great vid! The Gary Carter cards I have are a 2004 Leaf Limited team trademarks jersey/auto numbered to 100, and a 2004 Ultimate collection game used patch numbered to 75. Would be willing to sell if deal is good.
If you buy only numbered rookies and ssp cards like if you buy fastbreak at that has a print of no more then 2k over prizm silver holo print apx 15,000-20k
Hi Doc, Another Quality PRO-duction. Just kinda of a recent transaction to confirm/back up what your saying. Trying to get a 1960 Topps Yankees team set in mid grade. Got a1960 Topps Elston Howard psa 4.5 for 8.08$, on 12/20 it sold for 18.90. That`s about a 57% decrease I think. Im mostly a collector. Is this an example of your point on patience ? Thank You.
Great video. The demand side of this market dried up: boomers who drove vintage prices are not accumulating “stuff” anymore, no more “free” money from C-19 that drove the frenzy a few years ago, Millennials prefer to spend discretionary income on experiences and not things like collections, and as you said last week, the kids today have zero interest in sports cards. There will be no price support at any level for this stuff, just a long slow bleed.
I agree on cards printed 2019 on They are hopeless unless low low numbered , but I think older moderns and vintage will be fine mickey mantle rc has gone up every year year on year I think 40% alot maybe on flash in pan guys but Gil hodges isn't really a great comp eye appeal centering etc matter big in vintage as well and just about every card on ebay is over priced
I hope cards continue to tank. Love it!!! Didn’t Jeff Wilson say cards were “in the basement” a year and a half ago? Thank God no one listens to Jeff!!!!!
Dude are you new to the hobby? Have you never heard about buying the card not the grade? Did you know that two cards with the same grade can have different values? When did you start collecting again?
"There's like thousands of Mickey Mantles...so if you're going to overpay for a high grade like a PSA 10 or SGC 9.5 or even a 9" - ediSportscards. Jesus Christ. Tell me which Mickey Mantle card has thousands of graded PSA 10's. lol. Really, nobody should be taking you seriously.
Just wondering where you got your information from that sports cards (presumably across the market) are '40% overvalued'? Not saying you're right or wrong (albeit it certainly sounds hard to believe on face value), but could you please cite your source for this figure?
Pro sports is televised on cable kids spend most time on the internet and consumed mostly by adults. Baseball has been on a decline viewership wise for years in the US
I'm not saying your wrong about sports card dad, because I don't personally know him. You throw out alot of accusations about him, can you please lead me to where the facts are that back up your claims?
Let's be clear. Almost all your takes are speculation. And I highly disagree on many points. Very judgemental. Have fun waiting until 2027. I'm going to be very smart and active and continue to grow a collection.
It's kind of a weird argument you are making, why would you be so annoyed (and you obviously are) about overpriced listings, if you could just easily buy it for less. Just go ahead and buy one of the cheap ones. Obviously it's not that easy to buy them for less, or you wouldn't be talking so much about higher listings.

Great advice. I made my list of what to buy in 2027-2028. It’s a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. Can’t wait until 2027-2028 to pick it up for nothing……

kids are into pokemon, not sports cards. once people figure that out....
Thanks to the algorithm I came across your video and subscribed. It's nice to hear people talk honestly about the sports card Market so keep it up man

The same thing is happening in all collectible markets, especially comic books.
Americans are tapped out financially!
Thank you! This was a great learning experience for me . Keep watching content like this I will kick my FOMO habit!

I remembered when Eric lindros was hyped up just like victor wembanyama . Eric did won one mvp but was no where near Wayne Gretzky.
I remember people sayin he was better than Lemiuex. I was right the whole time. Mario was the better buy and player.
@sting114 you mean those rare cards I got at the dollar store in the 90's limited to 150,000 aren't worth more than the dollar I spent. 🤦♂️
