Just reading the comment section, people really believe this is a sequel to MadWorld? It's more of a spiritual successor to it than a sequel. Plus, it's set in an alternate universe.

I know this is old comment but Jack daughter was most likely born during a time before he became what he is in Mad World. Of course he was not aware of his own daughters existence at that time due to leaving the one person he loved and turning his body into what it is now. Sadly, as this game shows, he only learned about his daughter's exitence since her mother died and Jack is the only living relative.
It's so funny that Mathilda don't say any words in MadWorld game. Only come out and kill Black Baron while he is demonstrating bloodbath challenge then smile to the screen.. And also Rin Rin's lust fighting with Jack..

Sega totally dropped the ball. First, they delay the game's international release although it was complete (seriously, the Japanese release had ALL the language options for every region). Then, they don't even bother to advertise the game. Lastly, they sold the game at a budget price ($30 in the US) even though it was full priced in Japan (and Platinum's most expensive game to date, I might add).
It is the fifth game of their publishing deal with Sega and is being produced by Atsushi Inaba and directed by Masaki Yamanaka. It was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in January 2012. It is the sequel to MadWorld.

Is it part of their cybernetics, their psychosis, or does it have something to do with a virus similar to the Logic Virus from Nier: Automata? Raiden from MGRR also had those kind of eyes. I've had a theory once that all the games made by Platinum Games are part of the same universe, but during different timelines and eras, kinda like the Pixar Theory.
Cybernetics play a pretty big part in the general survival of humanity in the world of Anarchy Reigns, and not just limbs, but things like eyes, or even a skeleton get replaced too. I'm gonna guess that cybernetic eyes of those who had them replaced end up reacting to the peoples mental state when they light up. And Jack was angry as hell at Max for taking Stella, the one chance the former champion of Death Watch had at a normal life, away from him. Max' very existence might as well be Jack's literal berserk button.

@@Max-iq8hi In terms of the split personality, from what it was explained, I think it was due to trauma of accidentally causing Stela's death during a botched rescue mission, combined with Max overdosing on PTSD meds that lead to its creation. As for whether the two games are connected, or not? That's a bit harder to answer - the games seem to take place in different worlds/realities, and some of Madworld's events contradict Anarchy Reigns, but they have far too many similarities to each other to feel like just a spiritual sequel, right down to the returning characters and their quirks. Which include, but aren't limited to, Jack struggling to quit heavy smoking, Blacker Baron's "Awww Hell Naw!", Matilda giving him a hard time, and even a direct callback to Madworld in one of the cutscenes, complete with Jack saying his catchphrase word for word AND the black and white coloring. So it's rather ambiguous whether it's a spiritual, or a direct sequel. I'm not so sure on that one myself...

I hope this game sold well Most of Platinum games don't do so well in sales and great games like this end up out shined by Call of duty. Platinum games put all they got in thier games and we get great stuff like this

Would have been nicer if dip shit reviewers actually played the multiplayer instead of lazily playing the campaign, probably on normal or even worse easy, and farting out half assed reviews. The main meat of the game is it's multiplayer. Something I wish Platinum would have done was included LAN support. It's a shame that about midway thru the ps3/360 generation developers started dropping LAN support. I still have many Xboxs hooked up for LAN.
