The Tudor Watch That No One Talks About... (Tudor North Flag Review)

  • When you think Tudor nowadays, you seem to automatically think Black Bay. Which of course I think it warranted as it is one of the best watches on the market for the money, but as a result it buries other great models from the brand like the Pelagos, the 1926, the Heritage Chrono and others, however, one watch that I think gets pushed to the back burner frequently is the Tudor North Flag.

That is my Tudor (and my week-ender) and I love it. Contemporary but also 70'-ish. The power reserve indicator: one of the more useful complication that there is. It is definitively underrated

I absolutely love it. And the fact that others might not feel the same way about this particular watch, just makes it fall into the "their loss, my gain" category... 😉

Glad you reviewed this. I’m surprised it doesn’t get more attention although last year I did notice that a few Tudor retailers around me didn’t have any in stock. This was my first luxury watch and probably the only one I do not think I will ever get rid of. I guess I am an enthusiast because for me this watch ticks all the right boxes. I think having a 70 hour power reserve along with the complication is super cool. A lot of people seem to complain about the finishing of the movement but personally I wouldn’t change it at all. The movement fits the aesthetic of the watch well, it looks durable, contained and held together well. looks like something that could take a beating. My JLC has a gold rotor and perlage finish and I have a Chopard and Omega as well but none of them do it for me like this does. The steel bracelet is especially badass.

Teddy thanks for this review. The North Flag has been my main watch (and by far the most expensive watch I've ever owned) for just over a year now. I love it. It's the perfect blend of a sports watch, an explorer/field watch and a tool watch IMO. I love the splash of yellow on the face as well as the impressive 70 hours of power reserve.

Love the review and each review. I ended up buying one of these watches with the bracelet and then ordered the black leather strap since it requires a custom band. I think it will become collectible over time. You either love it - or hate it..... Also, on a side note. How can anyone give a "dislike" for any of your videos. They are all well done and very informative. What do they want? They must be from people who are unhappy and hate to see others doing well and making great content.

Teddy, very happy with the watch band I got you, couldn't find any other place. Was going to put in my Orient Diver but color was off, but the black silicon rubber fit my Galaxy watch (latest edition) which I use when I'm driving because my car doesn't have blue tooth and don't want to use the phone while driving. Was going to put it on my new Orient Tirton diver, which looks great on a bracelet so will resize it.

    Dear Teddy,
First off, I am a huge fan of your channel and congrats on 90k! I really got into watches because of you and own an snk809 and an orient bambino. However, I am looking to add a diver to my collection and have been looking at some orients, I have heard a lot about the mako and ray but I would like for it to have a sapphire crystal. Since I am only 18 and in high school, my budget isn't very high. I have been looking at the new Kamasu they recently released and can't decide if I want to pull the trigger on it. I really love the design and also enjoy the dial on the limited edition model, but just can't make up my mind on if I want to drop around $300. Please help me make up my mind!

It’s a cool piece which is readily available and provides plenty bang for the buck. I like the clean look and funky yellow accents. I did try one of these on but it didn’t quite light any fire in my soul, maybe it’s one of those slow burners that could catch alight further down the line. Tudors put me off somewhat with their bulky cases but this one looks fairly well proportioned. With the current rarity, hype and pricing of Rolex I may well take another look, once the shops reopen that is! At an AD I’d be looking for a 20% discount however. It’s going to be very interesting what transpires once Covid has run its course, whenever that may be.

The edges are so sharp it will ding so easily, as seen here. Tried it on in an AD and it also had a ding.
Design is really cool and interesting. Love the yellow.
But the text at the bottom is far too big and off balance. The Tudor logo needs to be a bit larger to make it more harmonious.
And the “L Y” un-kerned spacing is an atrocious typographic error.

I think that without the success of the Black Bay, other models from Tudor like the Pelagos would probably get less attention. If anything, the BB re-established Tudor as a brand within the luxury watch market. No one talks about the Northflag because it carries an aesthetic that people aren't looking for in watches of this price range (in my opinion).

Teddy the spring is silicon not silicone. Silicon is a brittle element, silicone is a flexible compound that contains silicon, and gets used on straps. You know this!
Also I love this one, I don't care if it's got an integrated setup, it has a great look and honestly reminds me of Sinn. But I think I'd be better served with a Sinn.
