6 Elf spies can spot Sauron entering Mordor without knowing Sauron is back or what he looks like, but nobody can spot an army outside the city walls, or Mass deforestation and trenches hundreds of miles long.
They told the elves that their new leader Santa has ordered them to start making toys for the humans or face punishment, thus they were too distracted to see the army outside preparing

Moreover, it seems that the main city of Am4zon's Eregion does not have farms on the outskirts, farms with people noticing the invasion. Where do they get their apples, wheat and barley? It seems the elves do not eat in Eregion despite having parties with the dwarves.

Or is it that Am4zon Eregion imports all of its food, implying that the dwarves have better food autonomy than Eregion xD? Is Eregion's food supply being delivered by Amazon from afar xD?
Tolkien even described the farms on the outskirts of Minas Tirith!
That PJ depicted the fields of the Pelennor without farms does not allow Am4zon or other showrunners to make the same mistake.

It's not a case of spotting fires and smoke, there would be lots of elven scouts all over the surrounding forest, the same way the elves knew the orcs of Moria were marching into Lothlórien in LOTR or when the fellowship was captured almost immediately upon entering Lothlórien by Haldir an eleven scout.

What's with all the screaming and panicked elves running around in Eregion? If you compare them how elves are depicted in lord of the rings books and the trilogy, it makes no sense. They seem like humans with ears.

Elves are the epitome of a heroic people. They wouldn't panic if an enemy approached. They would calmly put on their armor, pick up their weapons, and set their defenses.
When we consider what Elves are depicted doing, including a mighty hero wounding one of the Valar, you had better outnumber them a hundred-to-one if you want a chance of victory, and even then it's only a chance.

To be fair to the crowd complaining about the diversity, it'd been nice if it made sense is the greater point. Like if all the desert hobbits were darker it'd been perfectly logical. The Dwarves all being super pale would also be perfectly logical. It's the fact every single area looks like a modern society is the problem, and gives that sense their priorities aren't where they should be.

Amazon’s adaptation of Tolkien’s material makes the 2006 adaptation of “Eragon” look like a masterpiece in comparison and that’s saying something.

I think it's the 2nd worst adaptation after Earthsea which will rule supreme among the bad adaptations for eternity.
It didn't hurt that Eragon had Rachel Weisz and Jeremy Irons, who were, in my opinion, very well cast.

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo?" is my favorite scene from the entire LOTR movies. It's masterfully writen and masterfully acted by Ian McKellen. And now they're basically saying Gandalf isn't wise, he's just using catchphrases he's heard before.

This is beyond enjoyable as a non-Tolkien fan (I read the main book and saw the corresponding 3 movies). I'm practically giddy watching it crash and burn like The Room. But if I were a fan, it would be utter torture like the new Star Wars was for me. Actually, I think it's worse; unlike Star Wars, they had a highly detailed book franchise and could've coasted to, at least, a decent product by changing as little as possible.
There's a RUclips series called "Gandalf Roasts Rings of Power" by Charlie Thompkinson, where he deep fakes the LOTR characters having a Rings of Power watch party, and it truly makes me bust a gut laughing. It's comedic perfection, especially if you start with Season 1.

Shadow of Mordor & War (for all the latter's faults) succeed as games.
What does Rings of Power succeed in beyond relative waste?
Lore deviations aside the portrayal of these events in those games was amazingly well done. They were actually captivating. If anything it was fan fiction done right. They took the lore and had some fun with it.
I think the lore deviation in the games are a tad bit more excusable because those games did try having some consistency. Plus part of the fun isn’t only in the story but the gameplay

Such a bad episode. They literally made it so that all the wise things Gandalf said in the Lord of the Rings books, he just stole from Bombadil… it’s unbelievable how lazy writers of modern movies/television are these days… especially the ones for this show.
Again. No mention of Numenorians living long lives. Numenorians are supposed to be tall. They are not diverse. Elves look ridiculous with short hair. Numenor is supposed to be much grander.

These are my notes, before I see this Video's review.
- The hammer scene was bizarre. A shot shows the hammer is there (when celebrimbor says "she is called Mirdania"). Then Celebrimbor first talks about the hammer (the background shows its gone) then Sauron says "That hammer" and its back again. I'm guessing the first shot was a continuity error.
- Adar and Galadriel's scene was ok in spite of her stuck up, hateful, spiteful personality.
- Elendil's courtroom scene was ok, a bit on the nose
- Hobbit scene is terrible of course.

- Why is Gandalf standing on a cliff chatting with Bombadil if he is so worried Nori will die.
- Its always stupid when a person must choose between saving the world or saving one person. And in this case its even worse because Gandalf the blue is specifically told "Every soul in middle earth is in peril" which includes ALL hobbits, elves and men that will ever exist... but of course Gandalf the blue is an idiot and will choose to save the two stupid evil hobbits.
- Now we got Bombadil quoting Gandalf's movie lines... I guess they were lines from the books, but I wish they would find new/different lines to use. "Many that live deserve death etc..."
- Why would Sauron summon prince Durin to ask the king for Mithril?
- What did Sauron see the fire? the Balrog I guess?
- Disa defending the tunnel with bats was especially stupid, when she summons the bats of course they fly around her and they would have just flown around the miners had they stood still. I would have liked to see that scene. Also, how much time do you think they bought by a few bats chasing 4 miners 20 meters down a tunnel? 3 minutes maybe?
- It doesn't make sense that the queen can take the punishment for Elidil. He was charged with "inciting a violent conflagration that led to loss of life and high treason" what has the queen got to do with those crimes?
- The queen makes zero effort to save her own life
- The topography doesn't make sense. The queen is in a rock pool separate from the ocean. It has a different water level. Yet somehow the sea beast phases through matter in order to grab her from below.
- Pretty epic looking sea beast... but I would still like to know the mechanics of how it managed to get into that rock pool and tie its tentacle around the queens feet
- They show the pool from above you can literally see through the water and see the ROCK at the bottom of the pool. it is not open to the ocean. So dumb!
- Wait what? the camera pans around and all the orcs are already 200meters from Eregion? I thought they were miles away... I guess it makes sense, Galadriel was travelling there when she got caught.
- I like Sauron vs Celbrimbor scene and Sauron's illusion
- I would think the elves to be a little more organized in defense rather than screaming and panicking.
- great siege visuals at the end.
There are a lot of stupid little annoying mistakes, but they are definitely getting better than season 1, but Its still kinda below average, maybe the production value brings it up to 5/10 for me.
If this show runs long enough I bet Gandalf will take Nori and the Hobbits to what will become Hobbiton. And then she will choose what will become Bag End to make her home in and it will be revealed that she is basically Bilbo's ancestor (wouldn't even rule out her being re-named Nori Baggins). And they probably drop an acorn on the hill that will turn into the tree on top of Bag End.

Seems like the writers forgot that each elfdom has these so called SCOUTS. That orc army would've been spotted days before they even made it to the gates of Lindon.

Balrog are corrupted Miar and are in the same order and rank as Gandalf, Saruman and Sauron. What makes them different is the level of combat skills, and if the questions were does Sauron have the ability to command the Balrog. The answer is no, remember they are in the same order of power but serve different masters. Another question I heard someone ask is whether the Balrog and Sauron would join forces. The answer would be no, the Balrog was loyal only to Gothmog the leader of the Balrog and by extension Melkor alone. Sauron wanted world domination, Melkor wished to destroy all that Eru had created, and both villains would immediately try to destroy one another. Sauron did not bother forming an alliance because the Balrog had no intention of leaving Moria nor did it care for what the outside world was doing and what was stated above.
Celebrimbor shouldn’t feel bad for forgetting that woman’s name I can’t remember the names of pretty much all of the made up characters in this show and also Can we agree that for god's sake, legions of orcs this near should have been goddamn spotted by the city ?
I liked the part where Galadriel looked at the camera and said "IT'S MORFYDD TIME" then turned into a Power Ringer and took out all the orcs.

32:10 Sauron literally was so powerful he could bring things into existence, he used to make flowers appear with every step he took… he is literally that powerful he can do that.
The only reason he fails is because of his own Hubris and he believes himself unbeatable which left him with weaknesses he could not foresee.

As a Tolkien fan, it's always so nice to see people like you guys who probably like this stuff but are not super knowledgeable but you still have more respect to the source material than Amazon. You guys know a bit more than the surface but you already know more than Amazon. You spoke about Celeborn attacking the forces of Sauron. Celeborn is Galadriel's husband and for TWO seasons now, Amazon shoved him to the side to ship Galadriel and Sauron. What an insult to the world of Tolkien... Anyway, cheers!
I can't be the only one that thought for a moment that DEZA was SAURON when the bats got summoned because the scene immediately before it showed Annatar being refused more Mithril by King Durin, so I thought Annatar shapeshifted into Deza to get into the Mithril mines to get the pebbles of Mithril he did end up having back in Eregion after all these scenes.
Desa and the bat scene was taken from Shrek during the Princess Infiltrations
You know this show is nerve-racking when Joe says Celebrimbor the right way and now it’s Alex who says “Selebrimbor”.
Yet another call back to Peter Jackson’s films. When Bilbo sees the ring on Frodo and his face turns demonic for a sec. Guyladriel has done it multiple times in this series without cgi

I'm just watching the show for the comedic relieve now. I know they won't stick to the source material and it's become a fun game to watch and see how they keep digging their plotholes deeper and deeper. For me the show went from "Weird, but ok" in the first two episodes, to "this is terrible" until the end of season 1, to "it's so bad it's funny". I hope they can at least keep that up.

Has anyone seen any one soldier of any faction in this show that looks intimidating or competent at fighting. It seems all the soldiers look like undernourished high schoolers with a few older skinny guys thrown in. These soldiers would lose to a company of boy scouts.

Another reason this show doesn't work is...why this era? They picked the most uninteresting time to stretch a show out for. Why not Beren and Luthien? Why not the Fall of Gondolin? The Fall of Numenor is covered, but again it's painfully stretched out, focuses on one specific time leading up to it, and it's a side story. I get some rights to the Silmarillion are held back, but all of this was in the Appendices of LOTR, so they could be done (not saying I really WANT to see Amazon wreck these events, but still...)

A couple of things about the Sauron Vision scene that bugged me...
1.) It was night when the orcs attacked, but the vision was full daytime with sunshine. Sure, it made for a nice visual contrast, but it also implies that Celebrimbor was so wrapped up in his work and his forge not having any openings to the outside world at all that he would miss that. Mind control handwavey, still, bothered me.
2.) Celebrimbor is standing there, out in the open, talking to Annatar, without a care in the world. Not one of the elves running around thought to maybe seek some help or solace from the two leaders of the city?

Morgoth's crown was turned into a collar around his neck, and was presumably cast off Arda along with Morgoth himself. Therefore it is impossible for it to be present in this show, that is assuming the writers ever cared about the lore.

Is it wrong that the best part of the show is the field Slamdalf and Tom are standing in? With the wind blowing and that blue sky and nothing around them... seems so peaceful.
Some people like to discredit "postumous reviews" and suggested rewrites like the ones being suggested here by the guys by sayin "well it is easy to complain and propose fixes after the fact". But let us all remember that there were two main writers and surely a whole round table of screw ups being paid fat checks by amazon who, when being pitched this awful mess, couldn´t even come up with a simple fix. If this is what a full room of writers came up with after pitches, writes, rewrites, table readings, pre production, and everything that goes on before a show is even filmed... what the hell was in that first draft the two morons wrote? like seriously, did they just walk up the bezos, kissed his forehead at the nape and delivered a crayon scribbled parchment that said "Sauron clever, orcs good, protagonists cool, gib money?"---- AND IT WORKED!!!???

Yes, original Orcs do have babies, wives and are not entirely evil, form families, societies etc. Orcs are basically like people in that regard.
The orcs we see in Peter Jackson s work are enslaved orcs in a military camp, preparing for war, similar to WW2 training camps.

The rumor was that in the first season they didn't have rights to all the material but new rumors came out when season one was over that they were trying to get those rights and it seem like they did if the rumors were true. They probably pulled one over on the estate saying, "oh well the show would be better if we could do all these things that we can't." And the estate believed them. The reality was that the writers were just garbage and ego driven.
Don't watch this. Please. Don't give Amazon the views, don't give some dumb executive at the company the power to say "look, they watched it, let's make more like this".

Best I could do was up to season 1 episode 5 when galadriel was training the numenorians. I physically could not tolerate anymore. My hats off to you, gentlemen.
Again. No mention of Numenorians living long lives. Numenorians are supposed to be tall. They are not diverse. Elves look ridiculous with short hair. Numenor is supposed to be much grander.
