When the majority of actual cinema is shot on apsc like sensor sizes in the Alexa 35 etc I cant compute that full frame is required for a more cinematic look.
Although youtubers videos give insight on gear purchases, most of them are winging it and lack the experience and knowledge in cinematography. In the end misleading the amateurs for youtube $$$
Because of its use of Fx9/FX6/FX3 CineEI workflows, I believe the FX30 is an excellent choice for aspiring filmmakers. Remember, it's not just about your current situation; it's about the journey and the progress you make along the way.
People need also to remember when choosing between APS-C and Full Frame body that Full Frame lenses are considerably more expensive. Even though you could get a Full Frame body at the same ballpark price point you won't be getting lenses nearly as affordable as APS-C lenses, especially manual budget cine lenses.
It’s a very interesting video, but I didn't really understand whether you speak from experience or just from the specs, cause the camera you're holding up is the FX 3 (visible with the AF/WB sensors that are different between the FX30/FX3 and sometimes you can see the full-frame tag below the lens).
I can't believe you caught that! The fx30 was rented so i was holding my personal fx3. wow! impressive eye. I also rent my camera out to local film makers. So the experience is base don my usage and what my clients tell me
I will disagree with you about r7 - R7 is not meant to be videocamera, but Hybrid with more emphasis on photo, and AS a photo camera ITS way better then FX30. It's a different tool for different job
What other cameras could record 4K60 continuously? I record mostly soccer games in full length, single shot. So I want something that can handle roughly 1.5 hours at a time with a 5 or so minute break in the middle during half time. Right now I'm using a ZV-e10 and am limited to 4K30 but it doesn't really seem like there are any "budget" upgrades other than the FX30.
Good information but hard to watch because in the middle of a number of your product shots a frame or two of the next clip you were using for voice over would appear. Switched to only audio and it was much better.
Super 35mm is actually the most common and is the most " cinematic " look and have been around for decades. The full frame look is more common on youtube videos
Its definitly more common because super 35m was cheaper. But film makers have always tried to use as large of a stock as possible. Imax or cine scope is expensive. I think large format / full frame digital got it push in the industry mainly of the arri 65 .
SONY I think made this camera for the budget (Film) person. Also its a great addition to the Sony lineup for video. I have FF for photography, but this makes sense as a B cam than the ZV-1 for ( bloggers)
The 26mp sensor actually is not much better than the 24mp sensor in the zv-e10. This camera's noise performance was also not much better than the zv-e10. What it offers is professional grade reliability no overheating and professional features including the recent DCI, Anamorphic desqueeze and CineEI update. Then there is 4k 120p but that's a giant crop. I used it for a few days, and sold it. Sure, professional B cam this is great, but for 90% of people who are non pro,a7iv is so much more useful.
The canon r50 is great. You will get a really good canvas in terms of colors and resolution. And you can upgrade to stm lenses as you grow in your abilities.
Is the FX30 a good camera doing 4k30? All I need is a good 4k camera, that won’t over heat for a couple hour almost nonstop projects for work. I have a Nikon Z30 and I bought a dummy battery thinking it would help from the usb-c charging but it still overheated very fast screen flipped out etc. The room was probably like 70f.
Pro what??? Photographer? Or videographer? Because I would say for the price and you’re a videographer get this if you’re a photographer then a7rv before a7iv
So You don't feel the R6 II is a Professional camera? Or is not as Professional as the Fx30? But then at the end u say you can get a better camera for a little more money. Are you referring to the Mark II or something else?
What is a good editing program to edit the files of a Sony FX30? I have been having problems with the audio files when I use my editing software. It likes AAC audio format but the FX30 produces lPCM audio files. Is there any way to record AAC audio format with the Sony FX30? What is the best editing software to edit the files from the FX30?

such a great video. I have a question. is there any vertical dual batteries grip for the FX30? which one of the Sony vertical grip fix on it? thanks in advance
Great review, thanks. Question: How is its performance with 1080p for those times you want to save on storage space or when you just want to churn out something for the social media - Without pixel peeping, is it noticeably much softer than 4k?
Its not soften than 4k in term of clarity . but the detail level is a lot lower. but for social media you should be fine by adding some sharpening in post
I purchased the atamos and i have other sony camera's due to a bad knee i wanna keep the weight of my video kit down and aps c lens weigh less and what full frame lens id need for video wont weigh much either, the video quality from the fx30 looks good and the low light with some editing doesnt look to be an issue, my main concern is making my money back on an investment and as a trained photographer video work scares me its always been hit an miss with photography based camera's so i wanna make the best minimal investment with the greatest payout and so far the fx30 looks to be a no brainer, the color grading would hypothetically feel like editing raw photos, slap on a swivi view finder and the atamos with a xlr mic and i think id have a really good starting point to film professional work with flexibility of not only capturing stuff but fixing mistakes in post if I happen to fk up which as a professional photographer id be the first to admit we all have those days be it from burn out, over work or previous nights work leaving residual settings that you completely forgot about
Hi.. can you make comparison between the fx30 and canon r7 in video samples and photos Quality ! And give us your openoin plssss.. coz im between buying the fx30 or the r7..thank you bro
It might be tough to get both camera in hand at once. But i can just give my opnion here. Canon has better colors in most peoples opinion and easier to use. And 4k 60fps isnt super sampled. The fx30 is more of a pro tool and has more raw horse power. And it super sampled 4k 60. I personally prefer the fx30 but i think alot of people would opt for the r7 because of the colors
@@TechThroughTheLens so in a short way.. best photos and videos colors out of the camera without needing any editing will be canon.. but the r7 shoots 4k with no crop sampled from 7k as the company says, when fx30 shoots 4k with crop and sampled from 6k .. right ! But since you tried the r7 how is the auto focus ? Im leeing towards the r7 😉 though im afraide from the autofocus coz i once has the nikon z6 and the autofocus was night mare..
The autofocus on the r7 is 10/10 . As soon as most sony cameras now. The subjec detect is great. Also it has touch autofocus with the back screen. Nikon autofocus has come along way. but its not as good as canon or sony

This was a good review and perfect timing as I am thinking about picking up a second camera body. The only issue with the FX30 that I think may be an issue is no EVF - other than my smartphone I have not used a camera that didn't have one. Currently I have a Sony A74 which works well as a hybrid, though I have been shooting mostly photos. I current have the Sony 24mm F1.4 GM which I love and the Sony 50mm F1.4 GM which will be shipped on Thursday. Both of these will work great on my A7IV, but I want to get a second body that I will focus on video shooting. I had considered the new ZV-E1 but I don't know that I would like the size of the body (had the A7C and thought it was too small). If I was going to get the FX30 with the lenses I have, what lens would you suggest (Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and Sony 11m or Sony 15mm G)? Thanks!
I tried the sony g primes. I personally prefer focal lengths 50 and above. Wide lenses just don't look cinematic to me. I love the sigma 18-50 look ideal because it is so versatile. But also consider the new sigma 85 . Ive seen really good reviews on it
for video work i dont feel the evf is a major issue i think if you really need one look at the swivi view finder attachement they help abit when using camera's without the view finder
Thanks for sharing. I hope it's okay that I share some feedback; I had to stop watching this video. (1) this video is over-edited (constant use of slide transitions is exhausting), (2) "I'll talk about that later" is used to death, it's cognitively too-demanding.
