Technically Eivor is using the hidden blade the actual right way, because Darius is the inventor of the hidden blade and he killed King Xerces by using it on top of his arm, not under, it was Bayek who put it on wrong but the assassin's continued to use it that way as no one knew how Darius used it, so yeah, fun fact
@@YHWHCHRISTHOLY you took it literally just like Eivor did. The hidden one could have just stealthed out of there and there just happened to be a raven flying out of the tree. People looking like they've vanished is a trope at this point.
Funny thing: every reactor I watched screamed "Odin!", while I think that it is obviously an assassin whom the protagonist confused with Odin. I see a clear parallel with Revelations trailer here, when Ezio saw Altair's phantom.
@@Korialstrasz exactly my point, i really think they might add ezio as odin, most gods will be replaced by first civilization since its the story of this franchise.
Loved the trailer. Screamed in shock horror to see that blade come out hahaha. Epic af! And yeah man I played age of mythology too! From like 2007-2011 it was my game non stop nearly lmao
I've been thinking recently that they may eventually make a Viking era Assassin's Creed, but the title I pictured in my mind was Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok
Vikings the series is AMAZING! The way that the story is woven across the seasons is literally like no other show that's ever been made. Highly ambitious, super creative and a clever execution.
I’m Swedish and my ancestors were vikings so I’m very happy Vikings are getting more recognition as people rather than evil killing machines the media makes them out to be, but their still shown as being badass! I cant wait for this game to come out! (& I’m so happy y’all knew who Odin was before the character said anything!)
Yeah, Age of Mythology was also the game which introduced me to Greek, Egyptians, and Norse mythology. Spent hours to read the history in extras contents :)
Most of the stereotypes we have of vikings were brought about by their enemies. They weren’t horrible but they weren’t great either. Still.. awesome! #LikeAViking
Norse mythology is so much deeper than it's generally given credit for. Take Odin for example. Many people know that he sacrificed his eye to gain wisdom. Some even know that he sacrificed himself TO himself by crucifixion on Yggdrasil (the World Tree) to gain knowledge of magic and the power of runes. But few dig deep enough to realize the significance of that sacrifice to himself. H.R. Ellis Davidson explored it in her seminal works in the 60s-80s and in Folklore Society discussions. To be willing to sacrifice your life to stay true to, and understand, yourself - that is the essence of honor. My favorite passage from "Gods and Myths of Northern Europe" sums up the relationship of the Norse people to their gods: "In spite of this awareness of fate, indeed perhaps because of it, the picture of man's qualities which emerges from the myths is a noble one. The gods are heroic figures, men writ large, who led dangerous, individualistic lives, yet at the same time were part of a closely-knit small group, with a firm sense of values and certain intense loyalties. They would give up their lives rather than surrender these values, but they would fight on as long as they could, since life was well worth while. Men knew that the gods they worshipped could not give them freedom from danger and calamity, and they did not demand that they should. We find in the myths no sense of bitterness at the harshness and unfairness of life, but rather a spirit of heroic resignation: humanity is born to trouble, but courage, adventure, and the wonders of life are matters for thankfulness, to be enjoyed while life is still granted to us. The great gifts of the gods were readiness to face the world as it was, the luck that sustains men in tight places, and the opportunity to win that glory which alone can outlive death." -- from "Gods and Myths of Northern Europe" by H.R. Ellis Davidson, 1964
Vikings is an awesome show but I also recommend The Last Kingdom on Netflix, the voice actor for the guy character in the trailer plays a character in the show as well called Cnut.
@@AdamH7 the narrative? When the MC said that Odin was with us, THAT was definitely Odin, since he was known to wanted around with a large hood, so I think that is correct. But if you mean when he said "godless" during the statue scene, I don't believe that's wrong either. The Vikings didn't JUST worship Odin the Allfather, they worshipped all the Æsir god's depending on what they wanted blessings on.
@@NorseOkies yeah I mean the narrative director who wrote the story did a breakdown video and he said the statue at the start was Odin when it's actually Tyr. He never said who the man was by the tree, they said that's spoilers. Personally I don't think it's Odin, I think it's a Hidden One/ Assassin that Eivor thinks is Odin. Could turn out to be ISU Odin though never know.
@@AdamH7 og yes, him. And yes you could be right, I'm just looking at it from a mythological perspective. For all we know, it could be that the Assassins use mythology as a way to move around and relay messages around. We still don't know much of the game itself yet. What *I* am personally looking forward to the most is that you can build a homestead in the game. If your homestead will be just the one in Norway, which they said you CAN go back to, or if it will be a village/base you make in England, which would follow the narration propaganda in the trailer that they will ravage the land and never love or protect it. They said they would make it more interactive like smithing and other clan upgrades through marriages or other means. Which I think is awesome!
Didn’t I say Amon Amarth! I’m ashamed as The way of Vikings is fire and Guardians of Asgard was on before recording. And julia says thanks for noticing the makeup!

@@FandomZone Same here! Years back when i stumbled across the Norse it was barely existent in todays culture outside of Vikings but glad to see it getting more and more recognition. Just noticed the Mjolnir around your neck too, hail the aesir!
It definitely wasn’t as prominent. Being a comic collector Thor has always been my favourite Avenger so that gave even more insight and desire to learn about the Nordic mythos
Because this is set in the Assassin's Creed universe, you aren't gonna get actual full Norse gods and magic. They weave those into the lore of the first civilization or the "ISU" who were beings that inhabited the earth and created humans as slaves. It's actually science fiction and all their "magic" is ancient technology. They all died in a solar catastrophe but beforehand some made digital copies of themselves. They also had a 6th sense that could see through and read time, this allowed them to prerecord messages for the protagonists and often played out like a conversation even though they've been dead for thousands of years.
Adam H7 this sounds stupid af, but that’s just my opinion. Anytime I was forced to leave the animus, it was like being jerked out of immersion. I fucking hated it, and still hate it.

i know it's kind of randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
Y'all are the first reactors I've seen recognise that the hooded figure is Odin lol. Great stuff!
Kaswa101 i thought it was a nod to the assassins part of the game cause he was wearing the hoodie lol

Bayek the bro changing history over here.
I am pretty sure that they used it that way because its hidden that way
Blessed by Odin! This has the potential to finally surpass Black Flag as my favorite Assassin's Creed. I'm hyped.
Black Flag is my favourite as well! The ship battles were just excellent and such a rich story
Man y’all are my favourite reactors so far, realizing who odin was and just enjoying the video in general.
Thank you! We’ve been loving playing the game as well.
