ATTENTION. INCORRECT MYTHOLOGY. I said something about Odin in this vid, and I stand corrected: Odin DID NOT choose who went to Valhalla there on the battlefield, that was of course Freya and the Valkyries. Just so you don't take my words for the "truth"
Freya gets first choice, and she and her Valkyries take those who are done with battle to Folkvang and Odin chooses from the other half, those who love battle to be taken to Valhalla to prepare to stand with him at Ragnarok. This was an agreement between them after the Aesir-Vanir war concluded in a draw. Freya and her chosen do not participate in Ragnarok but instead go to Alfhiem. So you are not really wrong, its just alot more complicated when you really start digging into the mythology.
There were tales of Odin tricking warriors into early deaths so that he gets them in his army. And it was said that he loved watching them, disguised as one form or the other.
This is getting a lot of hate but I'm hyped. I've loved almost every Assassin's Creed game I've played despite the fact that I was sad Ubisoft basically abandoned the Prince of Persia series in favor of this one. I've even loved the latest couple of games that stray from the classic feel of the series. Hell, the most recent one Odyssey is probably my favorite of all, and it's probably the least Assassin Creed-ish of them.
I have to agree with you as a hardcore Assassins Creed fan, both in the gameplay and lorewise. The last couple have been fantastic in Origins and Odyssey, and we already know that Valhalla will be a mixture of the new style of RPG gameplay with the old stealth approaches in the original games. So we will have what the good of both, we wil have crowd stealth, camp settlement customization, RPG style armor and gear. A lot of the hate comes from the people who have been wanting old school Assassin's Creed, which I completely understand because I absolutely love the Ezio trilogy and how authentic and pleasant the game mechanics and aesthetics were. But I love what they have become in expanding the Creed and showing us how far the Creed and the Order have planted their flags.
@@JaayCeez I liked the series because of how long it takes to complete the whole game. Assassin's creed origins and odyssey took me so long because I would do every location and quest on the map. Doesn’t this predate Altair? The first assassins game with Altair takes place around 1190 and Viking age “ended” around 1066 so this game would predate that by a few hundred years. Unless its him using the apple to go back in time or something crazy like that
@@jaquawnturner5217 As you said, "Unless its him using the apple to go back in time or something crazy like that" it came to my mind and when I saw a youtuber that opened the code shared by twitter makers, it was just in my mind and assassin blade will take a single shot to be in that period. perhaps it was shaped like this that it showed me at that time with something like an altair apple
I think its starts of similar to Black Flag, Eivor meets the assassins through his journey. It starts in Scandinavia, then most of the game is set in England. Northumbria, Mercia, East Anglia and Wessex.
Always played the games, and always enjoyed exploring the history and settings. This is the first time an assassins creed game actually begins in my home country, with Norwegian vikings. I'm both excited as all hell, and terrified as all hell.

I know what the enemy's called that the Assassin faces. Huscarl - Saxon King's Elite Bodyguard(s) whom I may add did time in Byzantine Empire in the Varangian Guard (That are Rus Orthodox Vikings or anyone who pay the entrance fee!).
As someone who has never really liked assassins creed, this one is pretty cool looking to me. I almost bought the one set in Egypt and the Greek one because they seemed much different the other other ones in the series. I think I will probably get this one
From Black Flag onwards they were less Assassin's Creed and more Far Cry, probably why they stopped numbering them after that, they really shouldn't have called Black Flag AC4 because AC3 was the last traditional AC game. This is not necessarily a bad thing if you like the open sandbox style of Far Cry games, it also means that after the first three games you no longer have to play them in order.
Start in Norway and then make your way to England (to broaden your horizons obviously and conquer new lands ).. the four big areas in england ... wessex, east anglia , mercia and northumbria .. .. the main characters name is eivor which you play as and at the start of the game choose to be either male or female and we said to have more rpg elements than last latest one odyessey
The armor is reminiscent of Byzantine armor, and armor from Late Roman Antiquity, it has nothing to do with post-Roman Francia/Merovingian Gaul. Also the Normans didn't invade England until almost two-hundred after Alfred's reign, so the Norman shields you see the soldiers carrying is simply an anachronistic inaccuracy. The Byzantine influenced Sutten Hoo helmet I think they through in there just because it looks cool, but by this period I doubt any Anglo-Saxon infantry would be wearing such helmets.
it is a really cool trailer I stopped playing Assassin's Creed 3 then I got back into Assassin's Creed origins and I loved it then I was amazingly disappointed with odyssey so time will tell if Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will be good
According to ubisoft the trailer is actually made with ingame graphics engine. You might want to give AC Origins and/or Odyssey achance though. it does not really matter if you missed some AC parts in between since this two are more or less a new start of the franchise. They are both very well done and show the begin of both the Assasins and the Templars.

It's sad that Ubisoft puts more time and effort into their cinematics and trailers than the games themselves. They ride the coattails of more successful games. If you pay attention, every time a triple A game drops and is successful, a year later an Assassin's Creed game drops that's almost exactly like it in terms of both mechanics and themes. The most recent victim is God of War clearly. Now Naughty Dog gave them a taste of their own medicine with Ghost of Tsushima. I got so much satisfaction out of that.
I think it will be located in England. Mostly; bacause the "bad guy" from the trailer seemed to be an anglo-saxon king... although his champion looked more like a Carolingian Paladin... So maybe England and French Normandy? Also, not being all the tyme in Skandinavia opens to the possibillity to conquer and plunder freelly... its true that medieval nordmen would figth with each other as well as with the south europeans... But Assassin's Creed tends to draw a clear line between friend and foe; after all assassins need to be shown as missunderstood heroes while templars are decieving villains hidden below false virtue... such as the liying king we see who claims that nordsmen are vile savages while we see in the images they are not... Also, in a segment of the video it appears a northern village; while the king's voice in off says "they will never deffend this land" witch may do a reference to the viking settlements in Britain. Also, Assassin's Creed seems to have taken inspiration for the series "Vikings"; and so using the character of Ragnar Lothbrook and his champaigns in England may be a great hook for the players... Although I would bet Ragnar will not be the playable character; we may play his son or grandson, or one of the jarls under his command; and maybe meet some others like Bjiorn Ironside or Rolo... ...that being said; I would love to see them arriving here, to the Kingdom of Navarre ^^
The armor is reminiscent of Byzantine armor, and armor from Late Roman Antiquity, it has nothing to do with post-Roman Francia/Merovingian Gaul. The Byzantine influenced Sutten Hoo helmet I think they through in there just because it looks cool, but by this period I doubt any Anglo-Saxon infantry would be wearing such helmets.
@@Hamitic_Race Ok; to be fair ANY of the gear they where is really spot on; the nordmen are wearing clothes more reminiscent of the "Viking" series than any archeological evidence, and the two handed sword wielded by the champion is off for centuries ... But Assassin's Creed is like that; it's more an epic and stylisized version of history than the real thing... When I said the warrior looked like a Carolingian Paladin I was talking more about the genaral look and almost mithycal presence of the warrior rather than the specific pieces of armour... You know; thoose paladin's whoose stories would inspire the later medieval knigth... And I trully believe the designers where intendig to represent thesse proto-knigths; like a midd-way between a roman centurion and a templar knigth... But it's just my perception, of course. And when I mentioned Normandy; I wasn't refering to the invasion of Britannia; but the first settlelment founded by Rollo in 911...Witch is ovbiously more adjacent in time. I thougth the dessigners could use this as a excuse to be able to visit both sides of the English Channel... but it seems not; apparently we will only visit England... :(
@@dhorn4005 I understand your point, but the armor doesn't in any way resemble a Carolingian Paladin. The armor is based on Late Roman Antiquity/Byzantine military equipment it has nothing to do with the Franks. Historically a knight is anybody that was of Equestrian rank within the Roman governmental hierarchy. The knights of the high Middle Ages later on became the quintessential example of what a knight was supposed to be, but that is not the origin of a knight.
Odin doesn't choose the slain warriors for Valhalla. Freyja and the Valkyries do. The word valkyrja literally means "chooser of the slain." The goddess Freyja (sometimes referred to as Valfreyja, "lady of the slain") has first choice of those slain in honorable combat, taking half of the warriors for her heavenly field of Fólkvangr. After this, the Valkyries take the other half of those worthy to Odin in Valhalla. Valhalla (Valhöll in Old Norse) has been much overblown in importance by modern pop culture. So much so that they've now even made an Assassin's Creed game about it.

It will be situated in Norway, and 3 big kingdoms in England. You will as you thought, spend most time in England.

I understand your point, but the armor doesn't in any way resemble a Carolingian Paladin.
Dhorn the English king who gave the speech in the beginning was Alfred the Great

You are right, I was a bit off there
