    Am I able to create the SVG files in cricut or does it have to be an outside source

    Thank you for this video, great content! I wanted to ask if I should be flattening the texts I am creating in Affinity Designer, or is it okay that when they are uploaded to Cricut each letter is separated and its up to the customer to 'weld' it themselves? Thanks again!

    • @ShootingStarSVG

      As a Cricut/Silhouette user I prefer them welded together versus apart

    I must’ve missed something. The title says how to prepare SVG files to sell. However, your video shows how SVG files look like and behave like when bought. It does not show how to prepare the files into SVG.

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  Год назад

      The intent is to be able to understand the CDS software so your files are ready to be imported into the program. This program is the number one headache for most SVG sellers as it is the most widely used. I can edit the title. The thumbnail does explain it a little better.

    At the 5:30 mark you open up honeymoon vibes and the text is ready to cut, without needing to weld or attach. How do I make an svg file like that? I'm trying to create files and when they load into design space they look great, but when you go to cut there all separated to save vinyl. How do I fix that? I've tried in inkscape and gravit.

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  3 года назад +1

      In inkscape you would need to expand the stroke and create a union to weld the text together. I have some videos on how to create a simple SVG here ruclips.net/video/wL_ss7ivJyo/видео.html

    I have questions about designing and selling in Etsy. I can't seem to find the answered so I am going to just ask you! Do I have to completely design something from scratch (almost free hand it) to sell, or can I take bits of pieces of different clip art, cut it up and put it together differently and seek that? I hope this makes sense. Thank you

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  3 года назад +1

      It does make sense. You need to be very careful when doing that. I always teach people to break items down into shapes and manipulate them from there. That way you can create items that are your own and you don't run the risk of infringement.
      I'd have to see specific examples but general rule of thumb if you're going to do what you propose that the original artwork/item cannot be extracted by someone.
      Does that make sense?

    Tanya, trying to learn to use Inkscape to turn my pngs into svgs for Cricut. Have been having a heck of a time trying to replicate the "thank you mail carrier sticker" that has been floating around. My issue is that the base layer (the truck) is white with No outline. It seems that if I don't choose remove background in Inkscape, even though it is transparent, when I open it in Cricut there's a background. If I choose to remove the background in Inkscape, then the background and the white truck all become transparent. I know it works just fine if I want for my own use to change the color of the truck, but I'd like to understand what I'm doing wrong so if I ever do have a situation like this in the future and wanted to sell the file this wouldn't be an issue. Thanks for your insight and suggestions in your tutorials.

    Thank you for this video. I did not understand why my files were requiring so many mats. It separates the cuts by color. Also, it is rearranging things as well. I do not own a Cricut machine. I own Cameos only. But want to make sure I am creating clean files for customers. Your line of videos is exactly what I need right now so thank you so much. Do you have a video on actually making them in the software the correct way so they don't need to be tweaked once in Cricut? I am using Affinity, but can probably figure it out seeing you do it in Inkspace as well. Thanks again!

    • @ShootingStarSVG

      Absolutely. I can make a few on designing some more intricate designs and getting them into Cricut and silhouette the right way and wrong way!
