How to save your design outside of Cricut without using the snipping tool for high quality PNG image

- This is a question I see millions of times a week. People design in Design space and then want to get it out of the software to share with a friend or sell the digital version. Well I have discovered a way for you to save your designs outside of the Cricut software without using the snipping tool to allow you to get a really good quality PNG instead of the pixilated versions with the snipping tool.
These PNGs will still need to be reuploaded to design space or changed into SVGs if you want to sell them as an SVG but this a great alternative to the snipping tool version of saving outside of Cricut Design Space.
I hope this hack tip and trick help you master your Cricut machine. This works with all the machine and you don't even have to have a machine to do this!

A Mac needs to be done this way You need to be able to see hidden files by pressing [shift][command] and the period key in Finder. Open Finder and select the Macintosh HD location. The steps are the same as in this video (Users, select the user who uses Design Space, but the .cricut-design-space folder is hidden so you won't see it unless you press Shift+Command+[.] btw Shift Command and period again will re-hide the hidden files.
What about on iPad/iPhone? Thank you
@@dierrachanelcreationsz you have to just screen shot and crop. You cannot do anything like this with the app.
@@CorinneBlackstone I figured out how to find it on there
You are AHmazing! Thank you so much! I have been legit looking for how to do this for years.

This makes me so happy. I am good at using Design Space and don't have the time or headspace to learn new design programs. So I am glad to find how to convert design space images into jpeg, png and svg
This is a great easy to follow video. Thank you!

That was wonderful. Thank you!
You're the best~ Thanks so much. I used the snipping tool, and my project wasn't printing properly. I knew something was wrong.
2 years of struggle every time my printer has issues I look for a solution its terrible in screen shot to send elsewhere to print. I have not tried your suggestion yet but I watched it and know its exactly what I need, kind thanks, thank you for sharing your video

Good information. Right in time also because my snipping tool is not working well. It opens and quickly closes. So I screenshot and then send to Canva to remove background. But this is a great alternative 🎉
You are one of my favorites, thank you.
Thank You !!! This is awesome !! I wanted to print a design with my sawgrass printer - ie- doesn't print from design space with the print mate program.
Good to know! 😃 Thanks for sharing! 🥰

thank you so much for explaiining this. I have only cleared cache that way. Now I know I will do for all my images. it is frustrating when i want to add something to an existing canvas and will not let me import or add to canvas, it will want to open on a new canvas.
Omg thank you! ❤
THANK YOU!!!!!
I loved your Video I just have remember how to do it .I like sending designs to my sublimation printer and cant from design space
That’s cool - I especially like seeing how you re-uploaded to Design space as two different cut images- that can also be helpful. Would that work to change an existing png to create 2 or more cut images out of or does it only work because of how the original was created before making it a png?
Yeah you could absolutely create 2 or more cut images this way for sure
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank you!
Thats amazing thank you. I have been trying to save and make my designs from design space to sell i have tried using one of the svg converters and it doesnt seem to work, i down loaded inkscape but thats a whole new world to me 😂 i would be so greatful if you could do an indepth vidoe on how to do this. Most of the vidoes i have watched are 3/5 years old so design space and inkscape have changed. Is there a better thing to use for free rather than inkscape? Thank you
I have videos on converting pngs to SVGs
I tried on my Mac following your steps but the resolution is not very sharp. Is there a way to correct that?
Nope that’s the quality you’re going to get. It’s not fantastic for sure
Question- when you upload a png and make it a cut file, is Design Space essentially converting the png to an svg??? sooo also basically converting it into a vector image?
So not exactly. Design space doesn’t really create an SVG per say they just create a cuttable design space file it’s not a true SVG
So I made a design in DS and I want to print it to my sawgrass (I haven't printed anything with it yet). Should I save it as a PNG and then upload to SG Design Mate or Canva? Then I will be able to print it as a Sublimation? So new to sublimation.
By designing in design space you are actually never going to be able to get a quality graphic. The PNG is not the best quality especially not for printing. You are better to design in another program. However if you want to try it either option will work.
Thank you, this is great! I tried it and noticed that there is a subtle difference between the two images though. The writing is thinner on the PNG. I wish it was an exact copy. I wanted to send my designs to Proworld, but I will have to play with it to see if the quality is ok. The colored cat mom design I did had black edges in places when there was no black in the original. I wonder why this is. Thank you for your tutorials. I am always excited to see the next one :)
The writing is actually not thinner it just appears to be because you are not seeing the cut lines
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank you! I see what you mean. I figured it out ^^
@@CorinneBlackstone Hi Corrinne, this was also my question. it seems when you flatten it it takes the depth color and detail away from the design. Is there a way to save it looking like a basic cut even tho we are doing a print and cut. I'm really hoping. Flatten is ruining many of my designs. Will weld work instead? Thank you soo much!! I really appreciate your videos!! Just found you!
@@Dee-nl2jk no weld will not work. It will still have a the black outline. I promise it’s not actually changing your design at all. If it looks less defined it’s because the black outline is hiding flaws. If you really want that black outline you can add a small offset and then flatten it
@@CorinneBlackstone ok thanks. i will try that.
Amazing Tutorial! Only one small issue for me... I'm on a Mac! Trying to find where it's hiding on my hard drive. On the off chance someone else on a Mac sees this comment and knows where to look.... unless I find it first in which case I can come back and update my comment!
Sorry! I wish I could help you but I have absolutely no idea where it hides on a Mac!
me too. And I just found out how! You need to be able to see hidden files by pressing [shift][command] and the period key in Finder. Open Finder and select the Macintosh HD location. The steps are the same as in this video (Users, select the user who uses Design Space, but the .cricut-design-space folder is hidden so you won't see it unless you press Shift+Command+[.] btw Shift Command and period again will re-hide the hidden files.
@@tracyvisioni can’t find it. When i go to users only a folder called shared is there. When i press shift command period it doesn’t do anything. Is there anything else i can try? Tia
@@yulygutierrez1013 sorry, I’m at my limit of Mac know how. I’d try goggling how to view hidden files on a MacBook. Good luck!
Hey Corinne! Great video - HOWEVER... I have a project file with 35+ 4" dia. images in it. DS won't open when I click on Customize It. I've tried everything and the screen just sits there... When I go to the numbered file to preview it, it's one image with those 35+ images inside. That's not going to work because the whole thing pixelizes when I open the file in another program to edit it. Any other suggestions???
When making items with that much area and detail never use design space. Thats the best advice I have honestly
@@CorinneBlackstone Or put fewer images into each project file. I guess I have to do them all over. UGH
This was the version I had then there was an update to v8.7.66. I can nor for the life of me find out how to save a file now. Every article I use is the old version of design space. Will you be doing an update?
Nothing has changed I just checked. The steps are all the same
This looked like a good idea... but when I tried, the "preview" image was only 600x600 pixels... a lot lower quality than what I get when using the snipping tool :-(
Did I miss you changing some settings to get high quality previews?
It’s more for a mock up so it’s meant to be smaller where the DPI isn’t such a huge issue. But yeah it’s not idea and I haven’t found a way to really up the quality yet
How has cricut not been sued into oblivion over holding peoples intellectual property hostage 🤷♂️. I’m curious to see what a lawyer thinks about this situation. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
The canvas folder isn't showing up for me. Only canvascache.
Strange. It might be called canvas cache for you. Are the files in that folder?
I can not figure out how to make files to put all of my uploads into. Do you have a class that shows how to do this?

Can you do this with a sticker sheet you want to give as a freebie or sell?
Do you mean as a digital item or a physical item?
@@CorinneBlackstone as a digital item. I would love to be able to offer a free sticker sheet or one to sell that they could open in Design Space and then print and cut. People sell on Etsy all of the time but maybe they are not creating in Design Space.
@@MichelleJamesDesigns I would not do it this way. The quality is not great. Keep your eyes peeled I will have another video soon on a better way to do this
@@CorinneBlackstone Sounds good. Thank you.
Hello I was watching your video on how to save your files outside of cricut design space. Ok I am confused. I make a family tree with names . I weld everything so it can be cut as one but now I want to send it to 143 vinyl to have a DTF done. How do I transfer it when I had weld the name and shapes when it isn't a basic cut? Please HELP ME
You don’t do anything different. You follow all the steps in the video make sure to change the design to basic cut save for offline and then go to the folder to find it. Upload it to 143 nothing changes just because you welded it
@@CorinneBlackstone thank you
@@CorinneBlackstone Does the DTF last long on the shirt?

WOW, still confusing for me though.
Why is it that offline on my design space is no longer an option?
I just looked and I still have the option so I am not sure what you are seeing. When you go to my projects and you click the three dots in the upper right corner of the project it will bring up a menu and save for offline is an option.
