Thank you for a great tutorial. I'm looking at getting a Cricut Joy for card making. Can you import an image like the flower vases (7:49) and cut around the image like it was fussy cut?

This image is only suitable for print then cut and print then cut doesn't come with the joy machine.
In order for the Cricut to know where to cut, it needs to have those black detection lines printed with the image so there's no real work around to cut out an image you've imported without these printed lines. I hope this helps explain things. Thanks for supporting my channel ☺

Does Cricut flatten all my b and w images just to make us by the background removing option? Thanks

The upload type depends on whether you're uploading a jpeg, png or svg. If your black and white image is a jpeg or png, it's always going to be 'flattened' and cricut doesn't control that, it's just how the image is created and so it's necessary to remove the background. You can remove the background without a cricut access subscription by using the magic wand tool or removing it before you upload the image in cricut design space. Whereas svg files don't need the background removed. I hope this makes sense.

Yeah unfortunately, cricut are always updating things so it's hard to keep up. I've got it on my list to make a new updated video.
