      Would be great to see a come back of the inline 6. Their new V6s are pretty strong, imagining a smoother one with more displacement and if they were able to keep up the same power per displacement with their current technology that'd mean it would be 390HP N/A out of the box. Would be quite the motor to throw into a lot of vehicles.

    • @genxunclekey
      @genxunclekey 4 месяца назад +2

      @@sigmaprojects they just had that engine developed and sitting there already. What a combo. have an N/A and turbo version. V6's just aren't sexy. They lack the rumble of the V8 and the smooth wizz of the I6. The import tuner crowed may have been interested because it would be like the Nissan RB engine or the 2JZ or the BMW N54 but at half the cost. Oh well, they didn't ask us

    • @sigmaprojects
      @sigmaprojects 4 месяца назад +2

      @@genxunclekey The issue was mostly engine height for cars, was easier to package the V6 and V8s vs that inline 6. At least that was part of the reason they said they didn't do it. Maybe if they had a short deck version like a 3.0 or 3.2L inline 6 for the cars would have been nice. I personally would rather see the inline 6 over the V6 models myself. Especially moving forward for all their trucks they make with the whole Atlas program of 4, 5 and 6 cylinders sharing parts and systems.

    Calvin...I love the whole build concept. I have always been the guy that takes the unbeaten path, always making it more difficult and expensive on myself. However the payoff cant be beat when successful. The Atlas platform has grabbed my attention and is next on my bucket list. I have access to a 92 formula firebird roller that was a low 4 second outlaw 275 car. Everything is there with the exception of the power plant. I would love to see how far the Atlas can be pushed in a chassis of that caliber. Im 99% sure that this will happen. We would love to have your input and Atlas expertise along the way with the ECU situation. Love the Atlas content.....thanks!!¡!

    S550 mustangs with IRS seem to be fine with radials and cutting 1.4S and better. They too have the issue of squat vs separation. Stiffer springs with compression jacked up on adjustable shocks fixes it.

    • @geneolson6618
      @geneolson6618 4 месяца назад +2

      I agree. It looked like the front of the car started a little high, was not lifting as much as it could, and the lift it had was happening too quick. It broke loose as soon as the front stopped traveling up. The independent rear suspension may not be able to support the power as it is. They might need to use a solid axle and a 4-link to progress. They will be able to go as quick as their wallet will let them.

    • @jackmagnium6115
      @jackmagnium6115 4 месяца назад +1

      @@geneolson6618 leroy with its irs has been as fast as 8.26 four times in a row so i dont think thats the issue. rebel is right. just needs tuning in the shocks cause the atlas 4200 isnt even making over 1000 horsepower yet.(and yes there are some 1000+ horsepower cars that run irs and do just fine.)

    • @geneolson6618
      @geneolson6618 4 месяца назад +1

      @@jackmagnium6115 The IRS is the weak point of the suspension. They can get faster with the IRS, but ultimately, it will need to be swapped out to more easily control the swat. Different shocks will help as you said and I agree with both of you on this. Leroy had a ton of money thrown at it, transmissions, differentials, axels, etc. to make it viable. They just as well skip that money and put the money into a solid axle now.

    • @griffinfaulkner3514
      @griffinfaulkner3514 4 месяца назад +1

      @@jackmagnium6115 Leroy's first 7 came on the IRS setup, they didn't switch to the straight axle setup until much later. Hilariously, they threw radials at it and had a jury-rigged no-lift shift system in place before they decided to break out the hacksaw and went to town.

    • @griffinfaulkner3514
      @griffinfaulkner3514 4 месяца назад +2

      @@geneolson6618 Half of Leroy's shenanigans happened with blown-out shocks and a near-stock rear end. It wasn't until they pushed into the 7's that they were forced to start throwing money at the problem, and even then most of those issues were caused by Leroy being a stick shift car. Just look at Ruby; she's gone low 7's on essentially a factory IRS setup, pulled 1.1x 60-ft times, and was launching so absurdly hard she eventually ripped the frame open at the suspension mounting points.
      For how much power the 4200 currently makes, IRS is more than enough, it just needs better tuning, and a set of shocks is significantly cheaper than swapping out an entire rear end.

    Loving the telemetry on screen. Literally could help ya tune your car with that data. First thing is, need less timing in the launch control to bring the boost up much quicker. Next quick thing i noticed is the ign dwell is pretty lengthy... its fine if your coilpacks are handling it but not really necessary to lean on em that hard unless you absolutely have to 🙌👊 love the build

    • @Calvin-Nelson
      @Calvin-Nelson  4 месяца назад +1

      I've tried multiple boost building strategies with the timing. Need the timing to get it to the two step, then take it away to build some boost. It would not take anymore off the line. We proved that multiple times. We normally launch with more boost, and have the ability to add even more if we want in the future.
      Coil dwell was proven to be beneficial in our Dyno testing. It will break up at lower dwell. Every ignition coil needs different things to be happy. Not a one size fits all in my experience.

    If you guys are looking for a more long-term method of being able to adjust anti-squat easily, I'd look into custom converting the rear suspension to a De-Dion axle attached via a Satchell Link. De-dion is a sort of hybrid between solid and independent, with the reaction characteristics of independent but the geometrical characteristics of solid axle. The Satchell Link is an upside-down and backward triangulated 4-link that gives you simultaneously good roll centers, neutral roll steer characteristics, and high anti-squat all in one package. Plus you don't need either crappy panhard bar or a complex Watts link.

      i know a fair lot about those, that would be an assload of fab work tbh, you'd need to basically cage the car first because that centerline where you'd have the trans tunnel is structural on a fwd car majorly, and cant just cut that without messing up geometry of the unibody, it has been done but make sure you have a good fabricator and are willing to spend a good chunk of change to do it, or invest the time to learn but have to spend a ton of hours into it, just like my awd eg civic running a sti drivetrain mated to a boosted k24a2.

    If the gauge on screen is accurate you can retard the timing and richen it up to create more drive pressure and get boost built faster to get over the converter.
    Just reduce timing in the cells where it hits the wall until building boost.

      Yeah. Holley has a boost builder function. I've played with it quite a bit. It's a balance between not totally knocking it on it's face and building boost. Honestly we probably didn't need to launch any harder than we were as we proved on the first pass.

      It has a 325/60/15 on it right now. I think we have all the tire we need, but based on some of the comments here, the prep may be a challenge for everyone at Kil Kare.

    Can you add bump stops just for the track days?

    • @Calvin-Nelson

      That probably would not work the greatest. Bottoming or topping the suspension out can actually cause some issues with traction too. Appreciate the suggestion though.

      It's just a regular old turbo 400. The converter is probably tighter than what you are used to seeing.

    Calvin, I don't know the rules for drag racing, specifically your class, but 2 points I've observed. 1) switch over to a 6L90 with a TUTD shifter with modified internals and 2) Winters or Bulldog full size Quick Change with a spool.
