#1 rule of scamming. Never scam professional scammers (insurance companies)
True. Not worth it. Also this was in taiwan? I had a bit of frostbite driving on -35c on moped (I was 15y and drove 2.5km with headcover and helmet). Does taiwan ever have colder than 0c?
@SamiJuntunen1 He said at night and in areas with mountains which are around its possible, it was poorly thought out though because they can tell a chemical burn like dry ice vs frostbite very easily you don't even need a doctor a nurse can tell.
And make sure it's at least some months between taking out the policy and acting on it.

good point. i'm trying to think of a word that's more extreme than what he actually is, but i can't so i'll just say that's bdsm+necrophile behavior. not one or the other, specifically both.
I do not know the laws of their country but ik in the USA they'd probably consider a lot of different things, such as being tied down. Reminds me of how the slender man case went because 1 person planned it and the other did it but they were charged differently according to their part in the event.
Not to mention that the friend had lied that he was threatened by gangs, rather than just in normal debt. So the dude may have only gone along out of fear for the friend's life.
Yeah fr, it's kinda like with the Rotenburg Cannibal where the victim fully consented to being killed and eaten. One has to wonder whether it's possible someone is even fit to consent in situations like these..
My thoughts too, the dude who didnt do anything probably manipulated the other dude. BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY that dude gave up his legs for a mil. They should study his brain if thats the case, if there even is something in there
Not only did you loose both your legs, but you were also charged with insurance fraud. This might genuinely be the BIGGEST L I’ve ever seen… they gained absolutely nothing from this and pretty much lost everything.

Scams are so common, that people with legitimate injuries have to jump through ridiculous hoops and often times have to sue the insurance company to get what they are entitled to through insurance. Screw these people.
At the end of the day, if they're stealing from the innocents for no purposes and no gains but their own's, they scammed nobody but themselves.
@@ozenthelewdable5427 ?? If they stole from the innocent solely for their own gain, they didn’t scam anyone??
Even worse are people that will drain someone's bank account, and their response is, "The bank will just refund them anyways."
I hate when people act like money is infinite. It really isn't. You're just inspiring policy changes and making it harder for normal people to live.

Some of us are actual amputees and the thought of doing that on-purpose for some "payday" is bizarre. If you succeed, then you live the rest of your life without your limbs & looking over your shoulder, waiting to be caught because you know you broke the law. That kind of money isn't even enough to disappear into a better life & the odds of you getting that "payday" are slim. Insurance companies are notorious for not paying out like they're suppose to & they also investigate claims that they find suspicious with a fine-toothed comb. It took 3 months for a car insurance company to pay out my totaled car payment due to full-coverage. They investigated TWICE before finally releasing a $3000 check. What a weird scam to damage your good health permanently for a POSSIBLE payout. I have no pity for someone who DECIDES to become an amputee for money. That's disgusting & disturbing. Shameful.
A women ran a red light and took off the front of my car, totaled it of course, I had a police report putting her entirely at fault so my insurance company wasn't involved at all. After a week if radio silence and taking either my sister's car or the bus to and from work I had to threaten legal action against her stupid insurers just to get a damn rental to get back and forth to work while they investigated how much they maybe would pay out. They paid pretty quickly after that though

Even a few seconds of contact with dry ice on bare skin is enough to cause serious injury. 10+ hours was total overkill, and definitely torture. Honestly the whole thing reads a bit like coercion/manipulation rather than one man willfully putting himself through something he has to be zip tied into place for so he didn’t bail and losing both of his legs for the sake of .. another man’s debt? Especially suspicious that his friend photographed it when it happened. I am speculating I know, but it seems like the more likely option in my mind-

I can’t help feel bad for the guy.
I am currently studying insurance pre licensing, and there are a lot of regulations and laws put into place when you sign with a policy, most of which, protect the customer and some that protect the insurer. Any big claim is looked into by a whole underwriting department, in instances of death the company has a right to know information about an autopsy and if they are alive and get dismembered or an accident happens they have a right to know what happened and conduct their own investigation on the matter if i remember correctly. Example if you take out a life insurance policy for 1 million dollars and you try to commit suicide, your claim will be denied within the first two years of the activation of your policy. There are multiple clauses in the contracts that will attempt to minimize the scamming of the insured and the insurer so in short yes, it is really damn hard to scam insurance companies.
As a Taiwanese, I’m so glad my country’s finally getting some exposure on Charlie’s channel. But at the same time I feel so ashamed to be from the same country as that idiot who lost both legs for a insurance scam.
This was on Taiwanese news last week and when my friends and I saw it we just couldn’t believe it at first. How could anyone be so incredibly stupid 😅
Note that Taiwan isn’t too far from the equator and we don’t get any snow at sea level. Going to see snow on the mountain is actually considered somewhat of a popular activity for family, friends and couples because it’s rare.
There’s absolutely no way you could get frostbite that bad simply by riding a motorcycle at night. It’s literally a minuscule brain scheme.

I would like to point out that he claimed he got frostbite severe enough to where he required amputation, from riding a scooter at night... *in Taiwan.*
Quite literally the only places in Taiwan that break freezing at all are the mountains, and even then the very top of the highest mountain in Taiwan (Yu Shan) only *just barely* breaks freezing during the Winter months. So unless he rode his scooter at the top of a literal mountain in the middle of the night, the claim makes legitimately *zero* sense. And they live there! How on Earth did they think this would work??

I respect the effort of at least trying to scam an insurance company, rather than innocent individuals
The cost for insurers to deal with and pay out fraudsters is baked into innocent individual's insurance rates. The money always comes from somewhere. It's just like how shoplifters raise the price for all goods in the grocery store.
Idiots like them are the reason why people with actual injuries have such a difficult time claiming insurance
The compensation for pain and suffering only makes you whole again. It’s never really worth the pain suffered. It just tries to return what was taken from you
