  • Embark on a creative journey as we build a one-of-a-kind goat cart. From the initial idea to the final touches, witness the transformation of simple materials into a functional and fun goat cart.
    Building a Goat Cart. It's been years on the back burner, but I finally got to build a goat-drawn cart. Since our store closed, I always thought it would be fun to build a wagon the goats can pull at farmers' markets and other venues. For this build, I needed a little help from llamaproducts.com - where I got the driving harness for my goats, and also from sewprojectbyproject.com - who custom-made a poop bag so the goats can attend markets.
    Our debut will be at brevardrenaissancefair.com the next several weekends selling some of our new products for 2023. Come by and see Rusty and I. If you can't make it, go to www.happygoattradingcompany.com and shop.

    ✅ About Stacy Alan.
    This channel is designed for those who like country living, outdoor life, and goats with their shenanigans. Follow me to learn homesteading tips and tricks, see some amazing locations, learn about plants, forage, explore the outdoors, and laugh at my goats as we go on adventures together.
    After over a year of uploading one video a week, this started to seem more like a chore for me, and I started to feel some of the fun drained out of the experience of making RUclips videos for you. Instead of letting this be a weekly task, I am choosing to reel it in a little and make videos as I have opportunities. I hope y'all understand I want to make the best content for you and don't want to throw something together because I'm on a self-imposed deadline to get one video out weekly.

    I'm thinking of something smaller to get me around the wilderness if the grid goes down. I usually travel by mobility scooter. It runs on two small lithium batteries which could probably be set up for solar power, but the bottom is very low to the ground and I could get stuck.

    I love this cart! I've been trying to find a cart for my Jeffrey to pull. We did a mock run through and he pulls perfectly. I just need the cart. I'd love to know what the cost involved was total. Can you help with plans, etc? I'm also in Florida. Thank you for such a great video!

    A friendly tidbit. Just making sure there is zero weight on the goats back. Mt cart is made to pull people with two goats. The wheels are placed forward so when we get on all our weight and the weight of the cart is off the goat. It's actually heavier on the goat with no one on it. Your beautiful goats did not look as if they were staining at all, so just checking. Blessings

      Thank you for that. I did design this to be balanced in the middle when it's empty. I'll keep it in mind to have the heavier items in the back. Appreciate you mentioning it.

    Wish we could have goats but our HOA won’t allow it 😂 this is so cool and it was cute watching the goats carry it around. All the goats tried hard but happy 😂. Have fun at the rennasance festival

    Hi Stacy I have the harness from the Oregon company however im having a hard time with getting the axil and cart put together. Any advice? I also don't need a cart as big as yours, maybe half the size for driving them with me in the cart

    • @StacyAlan77
      @StacyAlan77  10 месяцев назад +1

      I tried a few different things on the cart, the best one yet seems to be the tires I bought from Northern Tool with 5/8 berrings. I then used 5/8 threaded rod from home depot and bolted the wheels on the ends.

    How did you go about training your goats to pull? We're a small startup farm. I'm currently doing a study on the cost/resource demand of equipment vs animal for small farms. After some studies of methods during the depression era, I'm finding that goats would be the perfect candidate as they were used as the "poor man's cow" for both small farm work and production.

      My goats have always been adventurous and follow me all over. They quickly got use to a collar and lead and sometimes a halter. I trained some to carry backpacks, so moving them into tack was relatively easy. They've all been a custom to being around people to, so working at a festival was not too big of a leap either.
      The hardest part, like with Happy in the video, is getting them used to the noise and movement of the wagon behind them. If we hit a bump or root, the wagon rattles behind and scares them. Rusty and Buster seemed to do very well while Happy did not like it one bit.
