  • Step into the enchanting world of the Renaissance Fair, where our working goats take center stage. From pulling wagons to interacting with the crowd, these goats add a touch of medieval magic to the festivities.
Working Goats | Renaissance Festival. My goats and I worked at the Brevard Renaissance Fair this year. We had an amazing time selling our goods, pulled behind a goat draw wagon, and met many new friends. Rusty and Buster both became Honorary Knights, and the side shows were quite spectacular.
For this wagon build, I needed a little help from llamaproducts.com - where I got the driving harness for my goats, and also from sewprojectbyproject.com - who custom-made a poop bag so the goats can attend markets. ✅ About Stacy Alan.
This channel is designed for those who like country living, outdoor life, and goats with their shenanigans. Follow me to learn homesteading tips and tricks, see some amazing locations, learn about plants, forage, explore the outdoors, and laugh at my goats as we go on adventures together.
After over a year of uploading one video a week, this started to seem more like a chore for me, and I started to feel some of the fun drained out of the experience of making RUclips videos for you. Instead of letting this be a weekly task, I am choosing to reel it in a little and make videos as I have opportunities. I hope y'all understand I want to make the best content for you and don't want to throw something together because I'm on a self-imposed deadline to get one video out weekly.

Awesome video!! Perhaps you can answer a question or two for a fellow goat keeper. What is the required weight class for a goat to be able to pull and what is their pulling capacity? (I have Boer and savannah)
I'm not looking to plough fields or something crazy, and there truly is no replacement for the horse but a back up plan of not having a quad or car or helping with garden harvesting.

Thank you and good question. I only put my larger goats on the wagon, they can pull up to 1.5 times their weight. For instance, my large goat weighs 100lbs so he can pull 150lbs of weight. Now that does not mean they can carry 150lbs of weight on their back! this just means my cart can weigh up to 150lbs. There should not be any weight on their back when pulling. Throughout the festival, I was constantly moving product in the cart to balance it evenly so there is no weight on my goats. We also stood still to vend most of the time during the festival, so they weren't working the entire day pulling. Hope this helps answer your questions.

It does actually answer lots!! Thank you!! I’ve been keeping and breeding meat goats for 8 years now (kidding season is just around the corner) but the prospect of having actual work goats is quite new to me.
Would you say using a goat for cart is similar to perhaps a mini horse in general power scale?
Most of my boer are well over 200lbs so that takes care of that.

I couldn't answer on the amount of power for other peoples animals, but I know my large goat pulls that cart so hard sometimes i have to use my body as a brake by standing in front of the wagon.
