I tried the Forte D and liked it, but after also trying the Forte HP (not the new one) I really liked it much better. It just sounds fuller. It has all the good features of the D and some really useful other features such as high and low pass filter which allows me to cut out especially low end without otherwise effecting the tone like the bass eq does. Also, the loading of different emulated tube amps and OD/distortion/Fuzz is really great. I wish they made it so you could load all of them in at once and have MIDI switching of them. But I usually just load my favorite tube option and then turn it on and put the drive knob close to 2 which just make it sound like the tube amp without any od/distortion/fuzz. I also like the punch button which in some situation is great.
Hey Vox, I really appreciate the specific input about the HP amp, I've never tried one but did read about the newer version which is tempting but they do hit the pocketbook pretty hard, still, the tone is killer. Your review is making me want to get over to a local guitar store and take it for a test drive. Thx man!!
@@studioxmusic I am using a Bergantino 4x10 HG cabinet that works great for my situations, more so than a normal ported cab. I also have an Agular GS 2x12 cab from earlier and I found when combining them it sounds absolutely amazing. But of course, bringing both is a lot of work. The fast response of the HG 4x10 solved the problem to not overpower smaller stages/venue. Plus, you can stand beside it and still hear it because of one speaker pointing back.
@@VoxTone2009 hey Vox, I've been a long time player of 10" speakers, I like them because they react quick to my sometimes fast passages but I've never had the opportunity to try any Bergy cabs although I did take a good look at their available configurations & specs. My 10" cabs always sound better when linked with any other cab but you made a good point about being able to hear the cab because of that one rear facing speaker. I've also listened to multiple speaker cab comparisons on youtube with the Bergeys coming in my favorite top 3, definitely great sounding cabs, I expect that I will one at least one sooner or later. Thanks!
Hey Keith, thanks for watching and the nice comment, much appreciated. The Bergy is now my main bass amp and the 8-5" Phil Jones Bass cab is quite unique as well, together they are hard to beat! When I play live in a decent size club or outside I'll add a 4-10 cab and its the bomb.
@@abc-yv2jsABC, thx for the comment, you said re-record it and boost it....Boost what? Another viewer mentioned that my voice was way too low for watching on a tv, thats probably what you are referring to, anyway, thx very much for the comment.
I don't know anybody who uses a Hiwatt for bass but they were huge for many years for guitar amps. I'd love to hear one, do you have any videos of you playing that amp? What makes it so good? Thanks!
@@studioxmusic What makes them so good is they sit in the backline mix effortlessly. Hiwatt were known to be the cleanest (tone) of the valve amps. That's why they were so well suited for bass (if you lke a clean punchy sound) I still have my hiwatt from 1972 but no cab. I use a fender rumble 500 these days because my back aint what it used to be. No vids with the hiwatt but in this video I was using a marshall bass series 100 (I love valve amps) ruclips.net/video/YiqnDZYsQis/видео.html

That's a great-sounding bass and rig!!! Thank you for a very thorough review!

Great bass amp...shame your voice volume is so low when played back on TV....hard to hear unless high volume...bass sounds good...
Thx for the comment, not sure why the volume was an issue but appreciate you telling me about it.
Re record it and boost it@@studioxmusic

thanks for sharing very enjoyable walkthrough
Nope. The Hiwatt Custom 200 is the best bass amp ever.
