- The Air-cooled Porsche 911's were the last analog 911 and had no nanny systems to save you. However there was an option on the 993 to add traction control called ABD. Lets take a look

This literally has to be the most important video I have watched this year, I can't believe I've lived my life without knowing about ABD, thank you for saving my life Nick.
Took the words right out of my mouth, my first car was a Morris Minor, I literally can't tell you how much old 911 sneaky traction control helps..
ABD was standard on C4, C4S, Turbo, and Carrera RS, and came as part of the LSD option 220.
Love the dogs watching you when you get out for the drone.
So we learned that Porsche's ABD automatically disables when the driver removes his glasses. Got it.
Nick Murray for Mayor!
Best Porsche you've ever had. Can't kill it... 👍😎
.... no matter how hard he tries😂
@@springertube 😅😅😅
Love your 4 legged friend
I learned something new - ABD very cool. Had no idea a 911 before a 996s had that sort of early tech. On another note I love how I'm thinking it's mostly Smudge riding shotgun (stealing the limelight) then Tui wakes up. Two dogs in the 993 is the best
Why on earth do I need any other content on RUclips?? What more do I possibly need or want? Nick should have more subscribers than Engineering Explained, Jason Camissa or SavageGeese combined! Cannot wait to show this video to my family when I get home later.
The truth is out there
This feels like watching my dad age seeing all your videos over the years. Your hair has been rapidly turning more grey with each video. The life of an OCD IT manager TUI wrangling PORSCHE owner.
Nick, you and your obsession with making doughnuts on snow 😂😂
Love the production value. Would love to hear your insights on the upcoming 992.2 (whenever it comes out)
That is so cool nick 😊😊
I remember reading about it in the 90s being the Porsche geek, they were way ahead of the times always have been
Talk about most important videos I have watched this year 🙂 I have been driving Cayennes my whole life, had E1, E2 and and E3 now, and until recently never knew that if you pull the hand brake lever while driving it acts as an emergency brake.... never knew this as I was brought up never to pull the handbrake if not necessary and this is a button so I never pulled it, but now I know. I told the wife that if I ever get an heart attack and she wants to stop the car, she can pull the handbrake button and bobs your uncle....
Extremely cool car...
I just checked my original invoice for my 1995 993 and lo and behold the option “Torque Limited Slip with ABD” for $1195 shows up….I always knew it had the Limited Slip but I must admit I missed the “ABD” and the end of the option line…..I feel like such a git 😂 Thanks Nick
I guess this is the early version of the now famous PTV if I'm not mistaken.
I suppose the reason for the system not coming on so often is the 911 advantage when it comes to traction.
Having all that weight ( engine + transmission ) sitting on the rear axle pushes the tires into the ground.
Love the 993 by the way.
Genius 30 years in the making he he, keep well Nick 👍
Very cool Nick, drone footage is awesome.
Love the blue interior...etc
Finally a great 911 video! I wonder how those maneuvers and snow tracks looked from space. (Think aliens)
Can't wait to own my own 911 and toy around in the snow!
I have this option on my C2, need to find a low grip surface to test it 😋Thank you for educating me on my car, will go to bed less stupid today 😅
Living the dream. I need to head out to a lot like that in my GT4. For science, of course….!
Hey Nick long time no see!
Interesting. But I’m really looking forward to your Calculator watch video.
And now I’ve got the Radetzky March stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Wow! No sweat in this video.....
Wow... so exciting...like watching snow melt.
I know you are being negative but I appreciate you commenting anyway. 👍
That 911 looks pretty planted in the snow, Nick. Stay well in the People's Soviet Republic of Connecticut
Kia Ora Nick
ABD sounds like it is a type of EDL
Cool
My 996 has the Sports option package that includes a 220 Limited Slip Differential and 224 ABD Automatic Braking Differential.
But I don’t think there’s a light when it engages.
Or maybe I’ve never set it off 😂
Hello Nick, I got to spend some time a couple of weeks ago with your younger boyhood friend from New Zealand. I even bought another towel from him and he told me they would soon say PORSCHE on them.
He really looked up to you and remembered you always had a gorilla!
Hey Dude, I believe you are an actual alien dropped off from another planet because they didn't even want you there.
I want to get reincarnated as Nick’s dog!
Nick, do you also have option M220: 40% Limited Slip differential?
ABD (option M224) acts on the rear brakes, not the throttle, to slow down a spinning wheel. However, this only works at up to 44mph.
The traction control seems intermittent. Could get you into more trouble than it could get you out of. 😮
Interesting. I thought traction control existed a little earlier. I hope the bystanders didn't think you were trying to drift 😁
Find it weird that this one stayed more in your garage than at the dealership, getting repaired...compared to all the other Beetles you owned
seing a place that is beautiful, but in 7 days you want to go to the tropics! That's why I love my beloved Brazil!!
And here we have many convertible Porsches!! and turbo S, Lambos..
We dont have a decent President !!
Wouldn't you know that 1 guy in a 1000 that loves to play in the snow gets attraction control option in there 993😂
Any updates on a new Macan EV?
Next time, please can you trace out an enourmous knob in the snow. I feel you missed a trick here!
Solid
Hi, Nick. Will it let you do tight donuts in place?
Thanks for trying
That's all I can do
How is the license plate frame not in the Nick Murray store yet?
Hey @Nick, what type of tires are you using?
People Soviet Republic of Connecticut 🤣🤣🤣 i feel your pain. Your friend from the Democratic People’s Republic of Illinois !
Can you go spec a 992.1 before the tach goes digital
And once again your videos wont show up on my youtube page. How many bells do i have to ring?
what's your daily these days?
lord have mercy for those doggies 👼👼
Is it true that the 992.2 GTS will not be available in manual?
Do more videos you littleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... RUclipsr
Glad my 993 doesn’t have it. Will only cause unnecessary wear on the rear brakes.
Wow Nick, you look 10 years younger. New camera or new face?
It is all the babies I eat.

Is it more of an e-lsd than traction control?
Hello Mr. Murray. I do sincerely love the Porsche content, but please bring back the aviation videos! And, how is your fixed-wing flying going...?
Why only 1 of your dogs has a jacket? You shouldn’t play favorites with your kids!
Tui is a Frenchie and has natural double coat and is hot even when it is freezing. Smudge needs as many coats as I can throw at him as he is a Boston.
Is this the longest you've kept a car? And isn't it true you don't like cabs?? What gives?
Very true, cabs suck, and I want to swap this for a coupe in green but somehow I cannot part with it. Stupid blue cab, love it too much.
Will always have a soft spot for 993s. Or is that soft top? I miss mine (both coupes) but went over to the dark side about 10 years ago. @@NickMurray
isnt this the same as the Mercedes W124 ASD system?
