Great question. When someone says a “major 3,” they are referring to the 3rd note (aka interval) of the major scale. Since we are in the key of E, we would be using the E major scale, which contains the notes E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, E. So, the major 3 in this key is G#, add that to your minor blues scale for some beautiful major flavor!
