  • Do you have food or other things coming up at night causing you to Aspirate? Do you have a case of GERD? Watch this video on how I help this problem from happening. The last thing you want is to keep having liquid being sucked down into your lungs. This can cause all kinds of terminal issues down the road. I believe what I discovered could help you with this.

    Thanks for posting this channel. I was diagnosed last year around April with T2 esophageal Adenacarcinoma. Your channel was the only one I watched prior to surgery. Worst thing someone can do is Google their diagnosis and figure out what to do. I had surgery (Esophagectomy) in June. No chemo or radiation. I had my esophagus stretched twice since. No complications except for aspirating in my lungs. Sleep on my back with an adjustable bed. I have resorted to a neck brace to keep my head up. In the past week I have aspirated 3 x’s. Not fun. I am eating a cup of shredded wheat as I type. Hope it works. Before I had surgery your videos really helped me keep it together & brought me through where I am today. So thank you. Keep up the videos when you can. 👍

      So glad my experience has help you get thru yours. I always say to myself after all this, at least I'm still alive. Some people don't catch it in time. Let me know how the shredded wheat works for you and if you notice a difference. Neck brace hu? Hum, I guess that would keep me from sleeping on my stomach. Ya the aspiration thing is what is my main issue is. If not controlled it can cause bad and deadly lung problems. My surgeon told me I most likely will die from pneumonia. So I'm always trying to stay ahead of it. I keep looking for the new medical device that they can install to replace that valve that keeps food down, similar to the "Links" procedure. Links wont work for us because we don't have a stomach for it to sit on. Good luck to you! Stay strong!

      @@Esophagectomy Just wanted to let you know that the Frosted Mini Wheats are a game changer. The acid and bile that usually comes up doesn’t any longer. I still have slight aspirations but nothing like it was before. Probably have two episodes every two weeks compared to almost every other day before. So I just want to thank you for introducing me to the Mini wheats I buy them in bulk through Sam’s now. Take care hope you’re sleeping on your side or back by now I have an adjustable bed and I sleep almost vertical.

    Thank you for starting up your video's especially as you went through the whole process. I am at the satge of getting tested and finally diagnosed for what I feel is the same thing. I have trouble swallowing food, sorry not swallowing food but it getting into my stomach as I feel it sitting at the top of my stomach like a lump or plug. If I keep eating it just gets full of food and I can't get anything down then. I have had this for maybe a month or so, so hopefully I have caught it soon enough for a good outcome. I am in the process of researching absolutely everything and anything on this subject. I like to know exactly what is going on at all times when my body is concerned. I also seem to be burping or getting small amounts of gas coming up after eating. I can get liquids down easily but solid thick foods are a different issue all together. Even a chocolate bar will get stuck. Sorry to go on but your videos are the best out there and give me hope etc to get through this. I'm 65 and in somewhat good shape health wise other than this. Again thank you .

    My husband is 5 years out and he's has the exact symptoms as you. But he is still working in the coal mines and is on 2nd shift, which makes it hard on him not eating before he goes to bed and I definitely will buy the mini wheat but he has found that eating the fruit Welch's gummies that helps him alot..He was wanting to ask you about your energy levels. That is alot of his problem. He is very interested keeping in touch and sharing our stories. Maybe together we can help each other out.. He has had problems with swallowing and for a year we where going to get his esophagus dilated at least 2 to 3 times a year..

    listen....as a side sleeper, i understand "i truly cant sleep any other way"
    but i still dont think its impossible, maybe this works out for you but i think maybe the healthiest option would be the proper sleeping position, maybe abit upright too to prevent the reflux

    I found another winner for the frothy acids. Try drinking fu brick tea or golden flower tea from china. It really makes a huge difference. Tastes a lot like mushroom and is easy to drink and enjoyable.

    ADDED NOTE " Some nights I screw up and eat something I shouldn't, like last night I had 3 peanut butter cookies after dinner. Even after eating my frosted mini wheats stuff tried to come up on me within an hour after laying down in bed. So you still have to watch what you eat before bed. But I swear this helps a lot!

    Neat find. Do you find that the extra carbs and sugar before bed ends up causing dumping more likely the next day?

    I had my esophagus and stomach removed a year ago my issue is being able to eat. The food goes down but I get very nauseous and sick. I do a lot of retching but nothing comes up. I also get a lot of air pockets on my chest which causes a lot of pain. If it wasn’t for my feeding tube I probably wouldn’t be here. This is 2nd surgery I’ve had and still not able to eat enough to keep the weight. I los have to get iron infusions all the time. Any advise. Did you go through any of this stuff

    • @Esophagectomy
      @Esophagectomy  8 месяцев назад +1

      So sorry to hear tha Ivi, they must have removed more of your upper esophagus which can affect your swallowing and sometimes speech. I think a lot has to do with the doctor that does the surgery. My only advice would be to consult with a different set of doctors. I hoping you the best. Please let us know if you find out what is going on, it might help others on here. Hang in there!

      Try Zofran before meal. And reduce the food quantity and 'train' it up.

    It catches.
    Any advice?

    • @skywaterstudios
      @skywaterstudios 8 месяцев назад

      hum? That is odd, to me. Did you have your valve removed that keeps food down? Your post op endoscopy should have seen anything abnormal down your throat. Let me know if you find the issue. Congatutlations on yoru 2 year and counting life extension. I'm glad you were lucky enough to catch it early.

      Am glad to hear your progress, your story was an encouragement when I was planning for my son 17year old surgery two years ago...my son underwent esophagectomy after damaging his oesophagus by accidentally swallowing a corrosive substance....He is very fine only dumping in the morning after taking sugary things (we totally avoid)I would advise you take your dinner earlier before going to bed it has worked for my son. Thanks
