Good to see you!! Thank you for ALL of your videos, Iwatched your series just after my husband was diagnosed with a tumor in his esophagus on Dec 7, 2021. Not much out there to see what really goes on until your videos. My husband had his surgery 4/2/22, ended up one week later with a leak in the anastomosis, along with 2 ltr of fluid from his body and shingles. It was a bit of a mess. He had a stent placed in his esophagus and a wound vac to help it all heal. That went really well although he was kept on the feeding tube much longer than anticipated because of the stent. We are now past all of that. His left vocal cord was damaged and therefore paralyzed, voice therapy has helped some, but will probably have the block inserted to be permanently fixed. A few weeks ago he had his thoat diltaion as he has a ledge where food was hanging up and that too was a great success. Just finishing up his immunotherapy, Opdivo (novimulab), 2 more infusions left. His pathology report came back with clear margins, and his scans have all come back clear. I know I've rambled on here a bit, but every little bit of info out there for others with this affliction will help them get thru, then I'm glad to share. For anyone reading my comment please feel free to contact me if you need to talk, survivor or cargiver. Thank you again for your bravery in sharing your journey. Take care now! 🤗

@@abhishekroy8646 he did need one, he had a bit of a " shelf" that things got stuck on. Doc got it opened to 3/4", all good now though. Today was his last immunotherapy. Yeah!! CT scan in month. Had the thyroplasy to help his vocal cord on June 9th, everything went well.

My father had this surgery back in 2013 and we were able to get 7 more years with him before he passed. It wasn't the cancer that got him, just other medical issues. Now, my best friend has the exact same cancer, is going through the exact same treatments (radiation and chemo). Next step is the surgery. I don't know what the odds are of knowing two people close to me having the same diagnosis and I wanted to find out even more information, if that was possible. I looked on RUclips to see how the surgery was actually performed and I came across your videos. They are so reassuring and I'm going to pass them on to my friend. Thank you for your honesty and openness during this difficult time in your life and I'm so happy you are doing so well today. Good luck going forward and thank you again.

@@68Bards Thanks. Its been 1 year 1 month for me now since surgery . Hasn't been a easy journey. Radiation to the esophagus was a nightmare I don't want to repeat. Chemo was a breeze compared to it. Lost 30 lbs, not from cancer but unable to eat for 2 months while esophagus healed. This was even before the archaic surgery. So far though I have been cancer free. And I don't have to worry about putting on weight as I cannot. I plan on making it with your added 5 years +++.

@@CliveDrone yeah - I’m barely above 10st. Slim to start but with a bit of exercise at the age of now 56 have the body of a welterweight boxer - silver lining 😂. Strange how the same(?) treatment can have different side affects. Radio was my happy day - no discomfort at all apart from a minor bit (less than BEFORE treatment!) for a week after last zapping. I was confident (as only a non medic could be) that tumour must be taking both barrels if ‘heathy me’ was relatively unscathed. Chemo not as bad as feared, though not exactly fun, but the first month of post-op discharge was so awful I would have been ready to swap back for the cancer… Fortunately I didn’t have the choice.

Ciao. Giampiero. Cagliari - Sardegna

I do have a question and maybe you address it in the video I stopped it to ask you this question a bit early. Did you ever get dumping syndrome? Or do you still? I used to get it quite often until I started learning certain foods and things that would help navigate it a bit better.
