Indeed one of the best parts of this movie. One of my sisters would play this part over and over and laugh until she cried watching Christopher Guest in this scene. Whenever we are together cooking, god forbid if the recipe has pine nuts in it because one of us invariably goes off on a tangent listing all the nuts just like Harlan Pepper. These Christopher Guest movies are brilliant.
The best thing is that in the commentary he mentions that he didn't know a whole lot of nuts while he was improving, and he didn't know why he mentioned it, lol
My girlfriend introduced me to this movie a short time ago, I had never heard of it before (it didn´t make it to German cinemas) and I couldn´t stop smiling and laughing during the movie.. your comment is spot on!
This is my favorite comedy. The improvisation is just brilliant. And if you’ve ever actually known someone who took dogs to dog shows or been to a dog show, everything is spot on.
That's the beauty of Christopher Guest movies, like when Harry Shearer talked about his skin care regimen in A Mighty Wind, they can make the most mundane things seem absolutely hilarious...
This scene was hilarious because it’s so unrelated to anything. The amazing thing is that the entire movie was unscripted and the just shot 80 hours of film and kept these crazy parts. He was so great as Corky in WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. Probably his best part ever.
Best scene in the whole movie. I use the sayings "I used to able to name every nut that there was.". And "Harlen Feffer you stop naming them nuts boy.". Way more in day to day life than I care to admit 🤣🤣🤣
Loved this movie and this scene. Wife: "I bought some pistachios at the store." Me: "Cool, but what about the other nuts? Hazelnut, pine nut, ..." in my best Guest imitation. Drives her crazy. 😂
Makes you question at what point in time was he sitting in his room naming nuts. Hubert is only a couple years old so he had to of been within the last couple years before the show.
Welp I hate to be a party pooper, but that's been called a continuity error. Because Hubert is a Young dog, only 2. Harlan was naming nuts when he was a kid, he used to drive his muthah crazzzay😅
@@nb-wp2qzBest in show, A mighty wind, For your consideration, All with this same cast of characters. Also a newer one called Waiting for Guffman. and if you go way back Spinal Tap was really the first one. enjoy!
So how did the dog manage to live so long. I mean he implies that he was a kid when he used to name nuts, and he got macademia nut from the dog. How does a dog live so long?? Incredible
I think the subtle suggestion is that he’s still naming nuts as an adult - he mentions he used to as a kid, but then goes on and on naming them which means he’s STILL doing it! That’s the genius
I think Christopher Guest is not nearly as famous as he should be because he’s such a chameleon. Every character he plays is so different from all of his others in appearance, voice, mannerisms, etc. that most people don’t even realize they’re seeing the same actor.
I liked his character but is it just me or is his character a "throwaway" character in the film? Not much of an actual storyline compared to the other "main" characters.
He's the most earnest and less obnoxious, so much so I feel bad when they cut to him and you see him disappointed that he and his dog didn't win. He's goofy but he loves his dog and his character is easily the most likable.
literally the only funny part in this whole movie. i had this on vhs for the longest time. we got it when it first came out. never watched till a week ago. the most boring fucking movie on earth. i was stoned as fuck btw.

Christopher is an absolute comedic genius.
The best thing is that in the commentary he mentions that he didn't know a whole lot of nuts while he was improving, and he didn't know why he mentioned it, lol
improvising?
The humor in this movie is very subtle. Its not for everyone. Its for me though!! I love Guest!
My girlfriend introduced me to this movie a short time ago, I had never heard of it before (it didn´t make it to German cinemas) and I couldn´t stop smiling and laughing during the movie.. your comment is spot on!
I gave up on showing this movie to people, I'm like 0-10 haha. Its frustratong though because, besides airplane, this is my favorite comedy ever
This movie is a riot!
Great movie
Also Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind. It’s a trilogy of mockumentaries.
This is my favorite comedy. The improvisation is just brilliant. And if you’ve ever actually known someone who took dogs to dog shows or been to a dog show, everything is spot on.
This small bit was so completely unrelated to the movie, but it’s the funniest scene in my opinion.
And it’s one of the most quoted from the movie, in my experience
it amazing. his deleted scenes are great too
That's the beauty of Christopher Guest movies, like when Harry Shearer talked about his skin care regimen in A Mighty Wind, they can make the most mundane things seem absolutely hilarious...
It’s not unrelated. It’s to illustrate his character. lol
you must be one of those papper county boys…
This little scene is a masterpiece in acting.
This scene was hilarious because it’s so unrelated to anything. The amazing thing is that the entire movie was unscripted and the just shot 80 hours of film and kept these crazy parts. He was so great as Corky in WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. Probably his best part ever.
No no, Nigel Tufnel.
One of the best sleeper comedies ever, just sayin'
« Woarrghaaoor...it sounded like Macadamia nut... » 😄
Christopher Guest is a genius!
I rewatched this movie the other day. This scene had me on the floor! The way he pauses in between the name of each nut.
The kick he gets out of himself before he says macadamia nut. 😂😂😂
Best scene in the whole movie. I use the sayings "I used to able to name every nut that there was.". And "Harlen Feffer you stop naming them nuts boy.". Way more in day to day life than I care to admit 🤣🤣🤣
My wife and I do the pistachio nut bit back-and-forth to each other all the time. And we laugh every time.
This scene is 11 out of 10!
Why does nobody ever mention that the six fingered Man from princess Bride is him with 11 fingers? Genius.
"If you don't stop namin' nuts..."
Harlan Peppa, if you don't stop namin' nuts!!!
Harland Pepper
"The joke was cuz we lived in Pine Nut..."
god bless this sense of humor
So how can this be funny? A guy naming nuts. But it is just hilarious.
Best movie to watch when stoned
“I was like pEaNuT” 😂
I just watched this movie for the first time last night and this scene had my stomach hurting from laughing so hard
Truly one of the funniest dudes on the planet!
pistachio nut, red pistachio nut, natural all natural white pistachio nut...
The part that kills me that is, he’s trying not to laugh the entire time. Kills me every time.
Loved this movie and this scene.
Wife: "I bought some pistachios at the store."
Me: "Cool, but what about the other nuts? Hazelnut, pine nut, ..." in my best Guest imitation.
Drives her crazy. 😂
John Turner - If you don't stop namin' nuts...
He forgot "donut."
Or corn nut lol!
"What are we shooting today, Chris?"
- "I'm gonna name a bunch of nuts."
one of the best scenes in the movie lmao
Makes you question at what point in time was he sitting in his room naming nuts. Hubert is only a couple years old so he had to of been within the last couple years before the show.
And he used to be able to name every nut. How did he lose that skill?
@@fenderjag114 I usta know the answer to that!
I’m so confused by your question/ponder.
Welp I hate to be a party pooper, but that's been called a continuity error. Because Hubert is a Young dog, only 2. Harlan was naming nuts when he was a kid, he used to drive his muthah crazzzay😅
All three of these movies are very funny. Great cast.
3...???????
@@nb-wp2qzBest in show, A mighty wind, For your consideration, All with this same cast of characters. Also a newer one called Waiting for Guffman. and if you go way back Spinal Tap was really the first one. enjoy!
@@edwardnull5447 Waiting for Guffman came out before all the ones you mentioned except This is Spinal Tap. Guffman is from -96.
I think the best part about this is that Hubert is supposed to have been around for the naming of these nuts, which would put him at 30-40 years old
Absolutely brilliant comedy.
I'll fight anyone that says this isn't one of the funniest things in the last quarter of a century
I love how his S’s always have a whistle to them.
“… which is a nut, but it’s also the name of a town” is my favorite part.
He is amazing. Like I used to live in NC and he would fool me that he was a local
Out of all the people in this movie, Harlan seems like he’d be the most pleasant to hangout with
Watch his eyes.
haha seriously , it feels good to know im not alone.
All these years later and my friend and I will still call each other up and start naming nuts.
he is the director of this movie
Macadamia Nut...
Red pistachio nut
Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop namin' nuts...
1.🥜...2.🌰...3.🥥...4. 🍩... "Harlan Pepper, if don't stop naming Nuts!"
Hazelnut was actually the trigger
Although if Harlan was naming nuts as a child, he would have used "filbert". Filberts became "hazelnuts" strictly because of a marketing move.
My son & I will just start naming nuts randomly because of this scene 😂
Amazingly, he is British and a hereditary member of the House of Lords
He's American, but his father was British.
British by documentary
Loooking for him singing at the start... honky tonk?
@ :54 he almost starts laughing.
This movie is genius
Macadamia nut…that was the one thanks would send her going crazy
Best in Show was great but this man will ALWAYS be Nigel Tufnel! ...And perhaps, working in a haberdashery these days.
That's nuts!
Is this Cleveland? Omg!
"You stop naming nuts!"
Great film
he forgot chestnut and coconut
Yeah, but technically peanuts aren't really nuts, they're legumes.
🥜
This was a hilarious movie!
This looks terrible 😅
It's not your job to be as confused as Harlan Pepper, is it?
Nigel tuffners long lost cousin...
Cashew nut
And a cashew isn’t even a real nut.
Neither is a peanut, technically
So how did the dog manage to live so long. I mean he implies that he was a kid when he used to name nuts, and he got macademia nut from the dog. How does a dog live so long?? Incredible
And later the announcer says that in 3 to 4 years this dog could be champion. But he's too immature right now.
what an old dog
I think the subtle suggestion is that he’s still naming nuts as an adult - he mentions he used to as a kid, but then goes on and on naming them which means he’s STILL doing it! That’s the genius
Harland Pepper. Stop naming nuts.
If you like this scene, make sure to watch the outtake scene where Harlan takes you through his beachball collection.
I think Christopher Guest aside from comic genius is pretty hot in this character.
Great movie! Great comedy!
Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.
The Knives Out commentary brought me here.
Same!
What did it say about this movie?
@@coleysextra5057 i need to know how

😆😂😂😂😂
thank you Rian Johnson
Will you stop namin nutz
I agree. People love this movie and I think it sux. I searched for this scene just cuz it's great.
0:20 i go to see her in the utha room and she, start illin
He forgot Bussa Nut
DEEZ NUTS!!!!!!!
Catherine O'Hara leads a cast of 'comediennes, beautiful and sexy and funny group they participate in a dog show
I liked his character but is it just me or is his character a "throwaway" character in the film? Not much of an actual storyline compared to the other "main" characters.

What? I disagree but
The story line is the people's personalities match their dogs so Harlan and Hubert fit in as well or even better than the others.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Best in Show..
thats wrong
Sad part is that naming nuts today takes on a whole other meaning.
You can’t say pistachio nut three different times. He was obviously stretching)g things at that point.
That's the joke: he doesn't really know a whole lot of nuts, but he's too dumb to know what he doesn't know.
@@briandomski8523 And he knows this, deep down inside. It's really kind of tragic.
