      Motorcycle averaged 37 miles per hour or 60 kph based on 4km track length and 4 minute time....37mph is not real impressive sounding is it? So the car was 6% faster? so 66 ish kph? So 41ish mph....still not mind blowing speed. The thing that really hampers a motorcycle on that section is all the damn ROCKS....skinny tires and rock strewn terrain dont jibe well ....had that been like groomed surface with 17" super moto wheels? I think the bike could have beat the car or at least would have been close IMHO....

    Reposted Comment: In my humble opinion the bike would be on the back end of it all the way. Firstly we have a single traction/drive source versus four on the Dakar buggy. Add to that the loose gravel sand and rocks. It's a no brainer. Put the same kind of power down on a race track in similar power to weight ratios, the bike will most certainly take it...WELL IF the track has sweeping corners to add to the argument. If the race track has sharp bends, a race car has once again far more going for it through corners than the bike which has the rider coming in hard on the brakes before accelerating again. To prove the point there is a video I think with a Lambo and a superbike around Monza, and the car took the flag. This to me is more like a publicity stunt for RedBull and the Toyota Dakar truck. Well anyhow, a great video and great action from both Geniel and Wade. I remember doing a stint around Zwartkops with Geniel once many moons ago in a Nissan 350Z.... Pooofff the years had gone by, but Geniel still has the edge!

    • @Lumberperson
      @Lumberperson 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@renameduser1312how does sitting in a roll cage with 4 wheel drive and a wide stance require more skill?
      There are no doubt some very good car drivers, and some do things bikes can’t do. Rally for example I believe requires more skill than most sports, including most motorcycle sports, although that is because they are competing against the times of other cars only which are faster, not bikes.
      Although if we compare a bike and a car on a track getting the same lap time, bikes are 10x more difficult, because you are always trying to keep from falling over.
      Try riding a motorcycle fast, you’ll see what I mean. I can drive my car and slam on the brakes and do a u turn in the rain offroad even if I have never raced in my life, and I probably won’t get hurt. You can’t do that on a motorcycle.

      I agree. While 300cc 2 strokes are kings of hard enduro/tight woods trails, a 450 MX bike can't be beat for a challenge like this. A 450 MX bike would eat that hill for lunch and probably gap that truck by 10 seconds or better. Props to the truck driver though, I think he's dealing with much greater consequences if he makes an error.

    Got to admit my money was on the bike. Figured it had a better power to weight ratio, and better line options going up where the truck would be better breaking and hold a better average speed though the corners. I was guessing the truck would do 410ish.

    Consequences of failure are pretty high and road surface is a big ask for a bike.
    Combine the two and bike did well. 450 four stroke definitely faster but beat truck? I don't know.

      With so many curves, acceleration is key, and the bike has an advantage. Also the bike, being smaller, has more lines to choose from.

      @brazoon1 Год назад

      @@stuartr.1420 I'd like to see how different the results would be if that course was smoother. It was pretty rough in some of those corners making it harder for the bike I think. Even as a dirt biker myself, I have to admit there aren't a lot of off-road scenarios where the bike will be faster. An indoor motocross track would definitely be one of them. lol

    • @brazoon1
      @brazoon1 Год назад +2

      @@youtubeaccount9058 I agree with your comparison of the F1/Trophy truck but on the street, bikes will match and beat cars much above 80k, especially on acceleration. A properly set-up turbo Busa can do the 1/4 mile in 7.1 seconds at 205MPH and still be street legal (and reliable). Using the Nürburgring as a baseline, a stock engine R1 went 7:10 but didn't include the Dottinger Hohe section. It would have gone 7:28(ish) if it had. That puts it on par with the best time achieved in a McLaren MP4-12C and the Huracán LP 610-4 . I've had a bit of track time in a Lamborghini and tons of track time with 600/1000cc motorcycles and the thrill of bikes ABSOLUTELY cannot be beat. lol
