De Reyter's approach to focus on renewables whilst simply allowing all existing power infrastructure to collapse from lack of attention and maintenance is beyond illogical. You already have existing power infrastructure but now want to ignore this entirely while you go planning entirely new power infrastructure? Which does not even come close to the level of power that to can be generated from the existing infrastructure (renewables were never going to be sufficient for SAs power needs). No wonder SA is in the position it is in today. What was this guy smoking??? There must have been some sort of monetary incentive to pursue such a poor and ridiculous plan!
