    Your pork didn't come out tender because you didn't use any liquid.

    I don't have a crock pot, but do have an Instant Pot and it has babyback ribs in it now cooking and will braise it in the oven for 7 minutes after it come out of the pot. They will be fall off the bone delicious even with the bones being tender. I put my sauce on the meat before broiling them in the oven and they are the most delicious afterwards. Your pulled pork came out perfectly and looked so tender too.

    That looks like the toughest piece of pork butt ever. Couldn't even shred it. Yikes. It's ok to admit when an experiment has failed - especially when it's this obvious.

    .. the latches are used , the excess steam gets trapped inside the . Do NOT latch the lid the appliance is . It can also leave an awful flavor from the overheating gasket. The latch is for transporting.

    I was much happier to see this recipe then the last. The one time I used Coca-Cola the meat came out with a disgusting sewage taste. It was still there after my Sticky Fingers went on. I usually use some chicken bone broth, or mix some of my BBQ sauce with water instead. Right now I'm obsessed with Stub's sticky sweet. I'll give it a try without the liquids though see how it comes out.

    Full disclosure-Amateur here. 😉 In the SPG recipe, you say not to use regular table salt. Why is that bad?
    Also if I use another cut besides butt, will my meat be ruined (think I have a roast in freezer)?
    Thanks for your advice.

  • @freedomwillring6749
    @freedomwillring6749 3 года назад +2

    Thanks for the recipe. I'm learning to do the pork shoulder myself in the Crock-pot. My Crock-pot is an older model that we've had for over a decade and it doesn't have the latches to hold the cover down. I looked into it bc I didn't want to use a inferior Crock-pot, and what I learned is that the latches weren't for cooking, but just for keeping the lid in place when transporting. I also learned that the Crock-pot does need to vent somewhat, and that quite a few reviewers on Amazon were upset because their glass lids shattered. So I concluded that their glass lids may have shattered bc maybe they used the clamps for the lid while cooking, and even though there is a vent, maybe it doesn't vent fast enough when it's going full steam. Been using this Crock-pot without the clamps for cooking now and then, for over a decade, never travel with it so I've never missed the clamps. Just looking for anybodies thoughts on this.

    • @BadBeastBarbecue
      @BadBeastBarbecue  4 года назад +3

      It will taste fine, you will just have to remove a lot of the fat after it cooks and it is easier to remove it first, that's all. The flavor should be fine.

    This is a great way to cook pulled pork without having to babysit a grill or smoker. Put it in the crockpot before bedtime and it will be ready to shred in the morning. I always put mine in fat side up without trimming. Fat cap melts away and keeps the meat moist. Love your videos. No doubt that you love cooking and you have some skills. Going to try the pressure cooker version next.

      I don't know, I never used diet soda in my recipes, I guess you can, but I assume Coke zero has some type of artificial sweetener in it, so not sure what type of flavor that will add to the meat. If you do use it, let me know how it turns out.
