    Considering this was composed some 50 years or so ago, I think people will still like it in 20 years. Always makes me cry!

    • @tannhauser5399
      @tannhauser5399 2 месяца назад

      No. What is much more meaningful, if you think about it - is that nobody remember the name of Edda Dell'Orso.
      Now, that is something that should have made anybody curious about that music. Not just the name "Morricone" (and I agree, he was a pure genius, no question about it at all).

    • @Vinterfrid
      @Vinterfrid 2 месяца назад

      That is indeed quite a strange comment - people are still listening to music that was composed 500 years ago, so why would they not be listening to music which is some 60 years old? Or 80 years old? Seems like you're looking at it from an American perspective, with a very short time span.

One of the many beautiful soundtracks written for the most beautiful western films in the world, by the great and only, the Italian composer Ennio Morricone……a true genius ! Now, close your eyes and imagine being in the Wild West yourself. How the drums can replace the beating horse hoofs, the vocals can enhance panoramic vistas, the flutes can easily replace the blowing wind, and the chorus could easily replace Native-American chants in their camps.
    Morricone not only made an amazing piece of work by itself, but made an amazing piece of work that could enhance a director's vision of his movie WHILE enhancing YOUR OWN IMAGINATION!

    I'm a huge fan of the music from the so called "spaghetti westerns" and this one is by far my favorite, followed by "a fistful of dollars"
    I couldn't be happier to see you discover them! I hit the subscribe and like buttons specifically because you had the same reaction I did. Bear in mind, I first heard it in the movie itself. The movie is just short of 3 hours long. You need to set aside a whole afternoon to watch it. The climactic scene with this song is very much worth the wait!!!
    A finer understanding of American history at that time, only serves to make the movie better. Just like language, context matters!
    Since the American civil war is ongoing in the movie, the 1860's is the period you want to study. Thank you for giving me a reason to smile. 😉

There are some amazingly beautiful movie soundtracks. No the man hanging is a dummy and part of the Wild West movies and the way criminals were hanged to die in the days of the US in the 1800’s. It made actor Clint Eastwood a big star in America. There were 2 other movies made with all of the same themes, the film maker, composer and actors and set in the American West.

    Ennio Morricone, who was in charge of the soundtracks for "THE GOOD, THE BAD and THE UGRY", said that the composition method at the time of making this movie was avant-garde music that incorporated daily tools and real voices that were not orchestral instruments. I was making emotional music.

    Extraordinarily, this was re-recorded by American bandleader/composer Hugo Montenegro and his Orchestra back in 1969 and released as a single that topped the UK chart in November that year. And I know this because I still have my siblings' copy in the attic. I used to listen to it on a little Dansette record player when I was small. For some reason (and I think it had something to do with the vocal effects), I called it 'ping-pong'. At least my parents seemed to know what I was asking for when I said it!

    It is truly one of the most beautiful musical performances the human race can muster. So the Orchestral presentation is beautiful enough by itself, but if you haven't seen the movie, you really need to watch the movie, ugly as it is, to appreciate the genius of producers offsetting the ugliness of the Wild West with the beauty of this music. It is one of the most dramatic contrasts in any motion picture

    This is a fantastic performance, in particular when they switch to "L'estasi dell'oro" (The Ecstasy of Gold) in the second half, which I think is one of the most brilliant movie cues ever.
    But this orchestra has done so many more iconic performances with music from movies, TV shows, and video games! One of my favorites among these is this one -- ruclips.net/video/3yxxSU0nw64/видео.html -- the end credits suite from the movie "Gremlins 2", composed by the late legendary, fantastic Jerry Goldsmith.

      Yes and no. It was a cardboard cutout, but yeah - the noose and the hanged man was there for ambience, just as the background image of Clint Eastwood was throughout that exact piece of music.
