    Atlanta against any big time city such as LA, NYC, Chicago, Phila, DC, Boston there is no comparison. Atlanta cheats by using the metro area population in comparison which is not the same thing. I am a native NYC resident living in Atlanta and I'll tell you there is NO other reason people move Atlanta from larger cities other than the COL. People come to Atlanta or the metro area should I say to purchase a home in far reaching areas like Dallas, or somewhere in Gwinnett or Paulding county. Unfortunately, in NYC, there is no reasonable way a working class family can buy a home for less than $500-600 and that's for a CRAPPY home. Your money goes further in the south and that's the main reason people move to the metro area.

    Being an L A native I gotta agree. Could add more. Getting congested out here. Gas is high, taxes high ,cost of living high and competitive, noisy in areas, housing prices not worth it now, so you’re paying for weather here. I’d love to add mre if anyone wants to know

    Its too late to move to Atlanta if you don't make $150k annually or better unless you're not really big on saving and investing. Google, Apple, and all the new developments are gonna make Atlanta the San Francisco of the south. Its headed for unlivability just like The Bay and LA. See Austin and Nashville for reference. I make $93K and I can barely keep my head above water here in Atlanta. My rent is $2350 a month for a TINY ass, 1000 sqft. 2 bed 1 bath. Listen to me.... DO NOT FOLLOW THE CROWD TO THESE TRENDY CITIES UNLESS YOU K N O W YOU'RE GETTING BIG PAID!! Let the Jones' have all that mess and go somewhere reasonable and stack your paper.

      @@amberscott4262 Just to help people out that may be reading this for reference, I just took a position in San Antonio about a month ago and I'm paying $50 less in rent for a 3 bedroom townhouse in a very nice area of town. I make a little over $100k so my spending overall is about the same. Food seems to be maybe a little more expensive but I cant say for sure. Traffic can be pretty bad near downtown but not nearly as bad as Atlanta. The crime rate is not as out of control as Atlanta from what the locals have been telling me and, it probably goes without saying, but the quality of black people here is 10000% better. Hope this helps

      You must live in the city i totally disagree the surrounding areas of Atlanta has rent thats very affordable especially compared to places like san diego san francisco etc .i guess it depends on what your looking for but at least your have choices not out here in Southern California its either expensive or more expensive

      @@GoHARD99 Yeah I’m a born and raised, zone 1 Grady baby so what I consider Atlanta is way different than what migrants think is Atlanta. If you talking about Douglasville or Lithonia or somewhere up in Gwinnett then I guess you can say it’s affordable but I don’t consider that Atlanta. That’s just Georgia to me. Lol….like I said, I was payin $2300 to live in a shoebox in Atlanta. I love my city but I ain’t going back. Let the transplants have that shit.

      @@thebabbler8867 Well that’s because they realized that our stronghold is here in the south, it’s easier as a black man/woman to own land and have their own establishments in southern states because this is basically our home base our people worked and died on this land for centuries. Most Black Americans always lived in the south it date all the way back to slavery this is where the slave ships stopped and where we worked the lands. We basically built the south as well as help build many cities up north and out west. About 97% of Black Americans have ties to the south as well so you’ll see blacks in NYC Chicago LA Bay Area Detroit Philly etc etc go back to southern states where they have roots.

    Both cities have their claim to fame in there own right. LA is a more establish, older city,
    Atlanta is growing really fast and to be southern city in south. It’s earned it way to be mention in the league of NYC, CHI, LA ,HOU, DFW, SFO
    it has national influences around the world
    Again it’s not established like some of the other bigger cities but if I had to choose Atlanta is number 1 to me that’s just my opinion. But hey all of these cities have their pros and cons.

    what can be the overall expense for a student living near Emory University?

    • @raymondrileyjr
      @raymondrileyjr  2 года назад +1

      It just depends on the strategy. Rents in that area for a 1 bedroom could range from $1300-$2000 just depending on your taste. The further away you are from Emory the cheaper things get. As far as purchasing the price range within walking distance to Emory are $600-$900K.

    LA native, moving to ATL. How much money should I have saved if I want to be ready to go as soon as I arrive? What amount makes renters move quickly? If buying a condo/townhome/house, 25% down of the total price? Is it 3 months up front for renting? I can't do a lengthy renting process from LA

    • @raymondrileyjr
      @raymondrileyjr  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! Depending on your goal. If you are looking to rent, you should have at least 2X rental amount in reserve for the initial fees. If you are looking to buy, you should at least 5% of the purchase in reserve. There are Down Payment Assistance programs to help with the differences if you're short the full 5%. Down payments start at 3.5% for an FHA loan and can go up to 20% for conventional loans. Usually in GA it's 2 months rent (1 month deposit, 1st month rent) due at move-in.

    Great video very informative. You must’ve spent a lot of time making this. The only thing I would add is that Los Angeles is way more than Atlanta. If you look at the census bureau there’s less whites than latino and if you look at whites only non hispanic they are only twice as much as the Asian population. Also there’s more of every other race in Los Angeles than Atlanta except for black and white. Those are the only races that Atlanta has more of.
