    This is truly a great review. Not shilling for Prime like a lot are doing these days. Fair review. Made me want it more despite its shortcomings.

      Flex will do you good. He did one on cambered bars awhile back. And he owns the majority of the SSB type bars. Some day I might track them all down, but for now I focused on what I could do and dig into the Prime.

  • @donquixote...

    I ended up going with the Marrs Bar... Never tried any sort of Hatfield/SSB, so relied on my 3D understanding and instinctual super power to unravel the mystery between the MB, transformer (T) & prime bar (PB). The T has a number of settings to adjust the camber angle & it's leverage. But evidently while trying to do some version of a squat you may also be doing your push or pull workouts. And a good morning (GM) isn't much different than using a conventional SSB. The PB, according to Mike (a robotic prick at Prime Fitness), is a one dimensional bar, ill suited for anything except a basic squat. A squat that they refused to recognize as a version of a high bar squat, front squat, or anything in between (and we know it's not low bar), so it's the 'Pat' of SSBs. So the MB had more versatility than the PB, but without requiring me to help it do its job like the T (in addition to a non-conventional GM). I do have a couple critiques of the MB, but at this point they're minor, and no piece of equipment is ever, ever perfect in every way.

    • @GrayMatterLifting
      @GrayMatterLifting  10 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate the comment and your thought process on your decision. I'm hoping the MARRS Bar lands in my gym in the near future so I can do a solid side by side. I never personally had any interest in the Transformer Bar. I could see if you can't front squat, back squat, etc. Having multiple options in one bar would be helpful. But otherwise, I see about 25 options that you'd use maybe 2 or 3.

    • @donquixote...
      @donquixote... 10 месяцев назад +1

      @GrayMatterLifting ...and the MB can pretty much only do 3 different things. I can back squat, though it puts a lot of pressure on the neck area. But I can't front squat or do a GM with a barbell. So, as you said, you really don't need more than that.

    thank you for being one of the first to review! how well do you think the bar would perform with single leg squat variations or lunges? i know it was made with a specific purpose, but do you think it can be versatile?

    • @GrayMatterLifting
      @GrayMatterLifting  Год назад

      It can definitely handle those. You can see in the clip, I completely let go of the handles and spin around. So you could get it up on your back, then get situated without worry about it falling over, etc.
      While probably not the first intent, it'll work well.

  • @medaillemaverick

    Great review. One thing I don’t think you covered was if it FEELS like a high bar back squat or what? Thanks!

    • @GrayMatterLifting
      @GrayMatterLifting  Год назад +1

      It feels like a very natural squat. What I mean is, the bar sits on your back and is just in that perfect spot. I personally would liken that to a high bar squat position, but I also personally do high bar even for my 1rm attempts. The bar just feels very comfortable where it sits.
