Faith: confidence, trust, a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. Sincerity of intentions. Is believed especially with strong conviction. A belief and trust in and loyalty to God. Pop-stars are real physical figures. Most want to have a tangible faith, to physical relate their faith in God. Faith in God should not be grounded in the physical alone for God is more. Oomph! Is relaying the message that faith is being directed to a false physical faith.
I love the german version and i don't have problems to understand it - i just translate it to my language. But if some of the songs are in english I can understand the lyrics without translation.
What they mean is that people inside religion tend to corrupt it, misinterpret it, and or act differently than they preach to do. They were in fact saying the lie will set you free not to say anything against the actual religion or bible itself but to say that the people who read it are the ones who say they'll help you when they themselves aren't even to the point where they can help you. They themselves aren't even doing what they tell their people to do.
i think it was pretty good for being translated though yeah it sounds better in another language of course but it is really hard to actually change the translations of songs because the words change around a little bit, this sont was well done =-]
Fernin Ker Even though this comment was 2 years old. Wanted to agree not just with this band/song but most bands/songs. It seems people mostly (not always) prefer the foreign language variant, to one in their native tongue. Would be a interesting social experiment, which I wouldn't be shocked if someone already did it.
It's still possible to have a closer translation than what they have here. I grew up in a Lutheran church that used an older English form of the prayer they have in the beginning, it keeps better with the meter than this version. Granted, it uses a lot of Thees and thys and all that. This song is still very good translation anyway though.
when he says "I give you all love. I give you all hope" he reminds me a bit of the lead singer of AFI. I'm not comparing them or anything so please don't start a debate over this. i'm just saying for a second his voice reminded me of them..
@Toudeusz right! I was a little bit astonished when I read the lyrics...I didn't agree, but I was a little bit confused...that's the right thing. plus, I'm italian, so I think you can imagine as being polish, what religion can mean...
I love his English! Dero's English is incredible but I must say, i agree with everytone that I prefer his German. It gives the song, no pun intended, the "Oomph!" it needs. Its stronger and German always seems to sound very scary or full of power anyway~ I always loved it xD
from all I've heard, this is the only English version of one of their songs that I really like. I'm not saying it's better than the German version, but in my opinion, it's just a good translation that sounds almost identical to the original.
i hear that they're actually doing an English CD. They're picking their bestselling songs and translating them so that they can gain a bigger fan base in America. I'm glad, because my friends don't want to listen to OOMPH! because they don't understand the words.
@FawkYewImaCosplayer it says in the bible that God sends jesus in his place so you could say that Jesus is the image of God therefore you would asume that jesus and God look alike
it still sounds f'ing amazing. i love the dam german and english. sounds just like him. and Blackdot is correct when you speak in another language your voice sounds different a little bit or sometimes alot. Oomph! rocks =D
I've always founding it amusing that so many English speakers prefer the German version while most native German speakers I know prefer the English version. XD
He is simply stating his opinion of what modern people have done to christianity. He's not trying to critisise (sp) the religion itself, but the people involved in it. I simply don't care because I am not involved in the religion, but i do agree that people have turned 'god' into the perfect person, when he is not/would not be. I am not saying that this is just with christianity, but with all religions.
Anyone just finds this awesome merely because of the lead singer's expression when he sings? Question was this translated by other ppl or the same guys?
your the one who can't tell the difference between Dero in English and Dero in German. And it's not just for your benefit, it's for the ither people who read your comment and ask those dumb questions, "Thats not really Dero singing? Then who is?". in MY defense, i just want to make it clear to anyone who reads this, Dero speaks three languages and sings in two. That is my piece, and i'm finished with this conversation, thankyouverymuch.
This is great, Dero sings wonderfully in english ... But it sounds so much better in german. It has more passion, more feeling in the words, when he sings it in german... wonderfully strong language.
@RasmusAngel267 if youve listened to some songs by Rammstein, some of them are partial english and the singer (not sure his name) sounds cool in english to
However, there are over 17 different sects of bhuddism, or so I have heard in my book about bhuddism, tao, and zen. The book I read was talking about how beliefs hinder you, and play a role in determining how you act. That's why I try to break my beliefs...and as my beliefs crumble and fall away, I am finding my life to be happier and more fulfilled. I too let peace guide my thought and actions :/3. I've always attempted to live a life of peace and goodness. : P
I love this song, itd b funny as hell if god was a popstar lol...but im guessing this is the german vid, cuz just from reading their lips, it dusnt seem to match up with the english words...n did oomph actually SING this in english or did some fancy recording studio alter it?
@tempesticky I'm only saying that the bible implies that jesus was sent as a god on earth so you could imange that the bible meant that jesus and god looked alike. i'm not talking about them as if they existed i'm only saying what the bible implies
What makes you think it's not Dero? o_o It sounds just like him! Although, yeah, it does sound different at certain parts..but it happens when you're speaking in a different language. Just look at Till Lindeman. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you only dislike this version because it's not the original. It still sounds pretty good to me, though..
The older one? I think you mean the "Our father whoart in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day out daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen"
@Xenobiarch He is not, we see Him one, made Him in our head so He can fit our expactations(You know - making God in our own image) and said that this very comfortable image is the true image of God. But something, or someone does not change because You have changed the image of him/it in Your head, does he?
@zjfox43 im not taking about THAT kind of money.....im talking about how some churches but like hundreds of thousands of dollars in some thing when they dont need to.
i dont understand what the difference is between in english and german versions is. except obviously the launguage. is it because the german sounds better or something. i dont know but i like the english version of this song better because i can sing along with it. lol
this is dero, he speaks differently when he sings in american rather than talk. but yea at first he doesn't sound like himself but at parts you can hear his deap voice.
Actually, it wasn't. The song itself was meant to express the hypocrisy in all things. The media, religion, and society in general. Everything is one thing, but behind it, there will always be something you didn't know. In other words, nothing is as it seems.
I tend to agree with igloopenguin22 this doesn't sound like Dero but I have heard him speaking english before and he sounds quite different to when he's speaking german but then again who doesn't when they change from their native tongue to another language the reason I wonder if it is him is because he speaks with a slight accent but seems to sing without it that's the only thing that questions it in my mind but if Hammerfall and Rammstein can do it then why cant Dero
I have to say, this song is alot better than I thought it would be in english. Plus his english is really good.... almost would think its his native language. I still prefer german though.
Faith: confidence, trust, a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. Sincerity of intentions. Is believed especially with strong conviction. A belief and trust in and loyalty to God.

I love both versions of this! It's already been said, but I'll say it again: Dero's voice sounds great in both languages!
Thanks for posting!
The lead singer looks like he has gone utterly insane, when he says "God is a Popstar" Love this band, love this song!
Wow this is great.. First I hear this in german... Love both version.... awsome....
I love a group that can write intelligent lyrics. Writing about how ppl do tend to worship their favorite celebrity over God.
i think this is a proper english adaption...really well done, phonetically and lyrically...great!!!
I love both versions of this song so much... Other Oomph! songs, I'm so German > English. This one...both.
Got through half the song before I noticed it wasn't the German version, Just kept thinking "this sounds different."
@disturbedfan425 His name is Till Lindermann. A fun fact about him is he used to be an Olympic swimmer.
awesome. whatever dero sings is awesome it doesn't matter the language!!!!
Definately better in german
I agree, it was better in german, but now it's weird (auf deutsch ist wunderba)
Yeah but truth or dare is still awesome cd. My primary language is English so I am nuts over singing his songs in English.
everything is better in american he'll yeah brother
For some reason the German language sounds awesome in rock for us English speakers
I love the german version and i don't have problems to understand it - i just translate it to my language. But if some of the songs are in english I can understand the lyrics without translation.
i think it takes a lot of talent to translate his songs and bridge the gap between English and German rock. I mean, few people do that successfully.
@foxmcloud23 their first album was released in 1995. they fromed in January of 1994
@lamkalamka
The year doesn't meters, the most important it the skill, quality and emotion.
What they mean is that people inside religion tend to corrupt it, misinterpret it, and or act differently than they preach to do. @Iraqimetal
I agree!

i was looking for a non vevo video, then stumbled on the english version, that i didn't know existed.

@lamkalamka they should both go on tour! that was be.....ORGASMIC!!!!!!

yes. i'm really excited about it. I'm watching the cd stands like a hawk...

@Toudeusz right! I was a little bit astonished when I read the lyrics...I didn't agree, but I was a little bit confused...that's the right thing. plus, I'm italian, so I think you can imagine as being polish, what religion can mean...
I thought I wouldn't like this version but it's actually pretty good, I like how Dero sounds in English.
I love his English! Dero's English is incredible but I must say, i agree with everytone that I prefer his German. It gives the song, no pun intended, the "Oomph!" it needs. Its stronger and German always seems to sound very scary or full of power anyway~ I always loved it xD
Nice HQ you have there...
from all I've heard, this is the only English version of one of their songs that I really like. I'm not saying it's better than the German version, but in my opinion, it's just a good translation that sounds almost identical to the original.
the new single is gonna be "Ich Tu Dir Weh" on the 18th.
i hear that they're actually doing an English CD. They're picking their bestselling songs and translating them so that they can gain a bigger fan base in America. I'm glad, because my friends don't want to listen to OOMPH! because they don't understand the words.

deinteil23 has it typed out. IDK... it just seemed strange to hear the other version of the lords prayer.
I've always founding it amusing that so many English speakers prefer the German version while most native German speakers I know prefer the English version. XD
i think its import only.....seeing as this vid was uploaded to utube oct 2008. and the original version in 2007
oomph es muy bueno es excelente .
Seriously? Dude, that's awesome. Lots of people here just brush it off because, yeah, they don't know what he's saying.
they actualy produce songs in both english and german. they also make some music vids in both as well.
He is simply stating his opinion of what modern people have done to christianity. He's not trying to critisise (sp) the religion itself, but the people involved in it. Whoa, totally prefer this in German, personally. Still a great song!

I really preger the german version, but is still nice to know what they are singing about.
0:42... woa... WHAT A HANDSOME!
This is great, really! But I still like the German version much more :)
I love this song, itd b funny as hell if god was a popstar lol...but im guessing this is the german vid, cuz just from reading their lips, it dusnt seem to match up with the english words...n did oomph actually SING this in english or did some fancy recording studio alter it?
Oomph!'s God is a popstar... you say the Lutheran church uses an older English form of the prayer in the song... how does it go?
Modlitwa bardzo na czasie...
I Think They Catched How To Make Good Freaking Songs In German And English, But Still, Eine Melodie Für Meine Ohren.
Dero DOES speak english! You'd know that if you'd watch his interviews, or at least the "making-of'' videos.
@Toudeusz I think that is the point, that we as humans have turn him into one.
если это родные...то молодцы ... поживем увидим концерты!
TheMjafa я когда молитвы услышал чуть с ума не сошел.
@tempesticky I'm only saying that the bible implies that jesus was sent as a god on earth so you could imange that the bible meant that jesus and god looked alike. i'm not talking about them as if they existed i'm only saying what the bible implies

Even though this song is older. This song is so much better than the new Rammstein single. When are we getting an American tour?
The older one? I think you mean the "Our father whoart in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day out daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen"

@bloodyrockfire I like more rammstein songs than Oomph! songs, but the Oomph! songs i do like, i love.
@xMissSin
yay just because it is your religon does not mean you falow everything to a T or else thing there just weird guide lines really
@Xenobiarch He is not, we see Him one, made Him in our head so He can fit our expactations(You know - making God in our own image) and said that this very comfortable image is the true image of God. nagyon nagy, bár németül azért mégis jobb :):P
Sehr gut!
I'd rather have Him be a Popstar than an excuse for every wrongful action committed.
@zjfox43 im not taking about THAT kind of money.....im talking about how some churches but like hundreds of thousands of dollars in some thing when they dont need to.
i dont understand what the difference is between in english and german versions is. except obviously the launguage. is it because the german sounds better or something. i dont know but i like the english version of this song better because i can sing along with it. lol
i just heard this song today and i thought it was pretty cool

This is probably their best english one >.>
Actually, it wasn't. The song itself was meant to express the hypocrisy in all things. The media, religion, and society in general. Everything is one thing, but behind it, there will always be something you didn't know. In other words, nothing is as it seems.
oh ok thanks for letting me know :D
i like the german and english version both but id say the german bit a tiny bit more because he shouts abit more when he says gott ist ein popstar ^^
@LookStunting I've heard weirder. This actually makes a lot of sense to me. :)
I was too busy jamming to notice this was the English version lol
@asafefraim, i hate to admit it, but 90% of Oomph songs sound like one another
The truth burns most into the ground.
I have to say, this song is alot better than I thought it would be in english. Plus his english is really good.... almost would think its his native language. I still prefer german though.
@lamkalamka wait i thought rammstein formed in 1996 bcause isnt tht when the first album came out?
I love Oomph!, I think it's an awesome song and in my opinion Dero's English is great
Das Lied ist soo hamma
I
o.o wow this is pretty good in english but the german...fantastic.
it is Dero singing. He speaks English and sings Elvis songs. its not that big a deal.
buy it.
