Can i add to this guide? - u can use 1 tame if u put blood packs in its inventory you don't need that much tames .. also there is another way ... let it catch u to start the tame then punch ur way out ... run to your tame .. doesn't matter if it can pick it up or not ..just get rid of the aggro .. then pull out a tek pistol and start healing the desmodus .. it will go to 100% effectiveness in a sec .. then let it catch u again ... NB: everytime it drops u it loses around 2% effectiveness so u gotta heal it again to 100% ... i hope u add this to ur guide
Nice, yeah Ive also noticed the 2% effectiveness drop. I did all mine in a similar manner to the video but with some differences. Firstly tame a high-ish level moschops and level hp for more survivability. Also build a trap using stone dino gates and gateways (Cheap, easy and no tek required). The normal tunnel style one, then aggro the bat, lure it in and close the gate behind it. Put your moschops on passive, give it a good amount of bloodpacks and whistle it into the trap and let the bat do its thing. When the bat reaches 100% effectiveness, whistle the moschops out, grab some bloodpacks and in you go. When it drops you, it would have tamed but dropped effectiveness to +-98% right. So run out of the trap and send the moschops back in to get the effectiveness to 100% again. When reached, whistle the moschops back out and in you go again. Rinse and repeat. So essentially, when the effectiveness drops you can raise it again without actually losing taming progress. And thats how you can get your perfect 100% tame. The biggest pain with this strategy though is to isolate the bat and get it into the trap. After that its just a semi-afk waiting game
so, there is one area that is better than these three, the old rock drake area from behind blue obelisk, you can pull them into those dwarven tunnels and it is extremely easy to isolate them, in single player you can also farm them, when you unload the cave they instantly respawn. To unload the cave you just have to go up the stairs which takes you like 5 sec on a maewing, this is if you ask me the best area to tame them in, but the hexagon cave can also work although you might have to deal with a bunch of onic in there
Thank you Steve, for 7 years of tutorials… even if it takes you a extra minute you actually pride yourself in accuracy in your videos unlike “some” informational providers. I hope to see you posting for ark 2.
I love your videos, they're so informative. It's not just the simple "do this and get W's", you go through the mechanics and explain everything in great detail. You're still one of my top 5 Ark youtubers hands-down! Thanks for all your hard work Steve!
Instead of calling them to keep them moving around. Set them to [WONDER] so they move around on their own. Developers made it so that if AI walk by a cliff they will automatically walk away from the cliff so they don't fall off unless they are chasing a player or prey. Things that are moving around are actually much easier for the Desmodus to pick up since developers have kept in mind that most of the time players would be running or walking away from them then appose to people or prey just standing there waiting to be picked up. 8:30 Press the comma key to tell you're tames of choice to move away to a corner of the cave so the Desmodus will bring their attention to you. By pressing the comma key it'll tell your tames to all gather to a single area of your choice, how you pick the area is simple, just guide your cross-hair to the area of choice then press the comma key and all your tames will run straight to that spot. Make sure your tames aren't set to ignore group calls or this won't work. 11:42
"So you don't have to wing it if it's driving you batty"..... I see what you did there ya sly dog! Haha Love your vids Nooblets, been watching them since I stumbled across the video of you solo defending your base against a whole tribe back when the Island was the only map. Keep them coming! :)
Just wanted to add something that made it way easier for me. If you ride a stego, the desmodus can't dismount you and takes very little damage on the hardened stance. You can shoot the ones you don't want and later guide your moschops without fear of getting nabbed.
Not a bad tip, just laying on the ground in the middle of the moschops works well too tho. Even if you get targeted, it always grabs a moschops until you whistle them away
I was not excited about this creature at ALL before it was released. After using it, it MAY be my favorite flyer...it's hard to knock the argie off the top spot, but they're FAST, they have good stam, they are stupid maneuverable, they cling, and they make the sanguine elixir. They're awesome.
Yeah creatures on this map are Crazy, the andrewsarcus Is the best rider i every saw with all those Little buffs, breaking obstacles and the dire bear run, pretty sad we still got no Crazy water fauna
So, uh, I did a little testing myself, and they don't aggro to a Karkinos, unless you attack them. You can walk right underneath them to reposition the Moschops with a crab.
It's worth noting that you can also sprint, climb and attack on a rock drake without waking them while invis. Which is great if you want to take out the low levels first without alerting the others.
This thing is probably my new favorite creature in all of ark. It’s a flyer and a giant bat? That’s already the coolest thing ever but it looks awesome and it has some crazy abilities.
Hey I'm playing on console and I figured out that it's not necessary to have blood bags on your hotbar,it's enough to have them in the inventory. Ps.: Love your videos but I miss moshba
Years ago i comments on a video of yours saying how dull you were. I'm here today to wholeheartedly apologise for that comment and to tell you my ark experience wouldn't be the same without your videos. Thank you mate!
I've seen many of your Ark content and I really appreciate how I haven't seen you in creative mode, you show a few good ways to deal with things if they go sideways, I play official pvp and there's no blink rifles or fly commands :)
Steve you honestly are THE best ark youtube, I love your videos always so straightforward helpful but also humorous! I love it and always use your guides. keep it up! goodbye!
I play single player, I tried taming a 135 and the taming effectiveness only went up by 0.1 percent each time the bat picked the up my moschops. I did the yesterday before your video.
My friend and me just got done with a 130, I’m glad I watched this before hand because they are a pain, at some point the moschops bit it for some reason and we had to start over but it was sooooo worth it, I found that if you already have one you can “pass” a moschops to a wild one if you get the timing right, very difficult but quite satisfying
@@davidvondoom2853 ... I've found out using a bloodstalkers, the actually hide in the ground to ambush. If you can hear their Bat Screeching but can't see them, they are in the ground hiding. They respawn FAST too.

Good day Steve. Thank you for all your amazing content over the years. You have always been and will always be my go to on how to anything in ark. I still use your taming pen to this day. Note on the Desmond, i was busy taming with a MChops and a Phiomia as pick up creatures. The bats seem to favor pocking up the phiomia and would carry it around for longer, gaining more taming efficiency as a result. I dont know if this was my imagination, but might be worth looking into. Thanks again for the best of best ark guides.
In my game, there’s a bunch of stuff in that ice cave thing, there’s araneos and onycs just flying around but in your video there’s nothing other than desmodus
You can find desmodous draculae up by the blue obelisk, I ran into three, accidentally while taming snow owls. I mistook them as dead creatures, because I was mowing down creatures left and right with my argy. (1000%+ melee, I was killing rhinos and mammoths and such.) But whaddya know, they were just hunched over and laying on the ground, so u didn't realize they were actually alive. This changed when I was grabbed. If you go up there, I was wearing, I think hide, you can skip all the spelunking. There was not much danger but the cold, and the owls and argies.
perfect taming video. been watching your content for soo many years. good to see you back at ark. Think Ovis sheep with high health would work as well? Maybe throw in some blood packs.
I tamed mine by accident. It was on a server with the fam and we had things buffed ofc because we can’t seem to play the game without that. I entered the cave on the island right next to the bog island and I suddenly got grabbed. I then had to name something, boom accidental desmo tame
id recommend taming moschops and tossing them into cryopods for a day or two so they have 30+ free levels you can pump into health, heal em up with a daeadon or let them heal normally and each time they get picked up the taming effectiveness should go up around 5% (depending on how long it hold them for) moschops with lower health give almost no taming effectiveness so you want them to have high health statst
been subscribed since I started playing ark on Xbox one love the videos, and I know if I'm ever having issues with dinos in Ark I can just watch your videos and get a complete understanding of what I need to do.
Thanks, very good tips. EDIT: It helped for me to latch onto the wall and cloak the desmodus i tamed in step 1. The stamina doesnt run out and the wild ones keep focussing on the moschops. However, it is taking ages to get the % up. I think I have waited for over 15 minutes now and barely 10% has increased. I wonder if there are any tames you can feed to it that increase effectiveness faster than moschops. EDIT 2: one of their taming effectiveness bars reset to 50%. I'm not sure why but that sure is demotivating.
I was taming a desmo and was gonna tame sacrificial animals but I decided I can just let it eat me and continuously respawn. It was very effective for some reason.

People on my server will love to know to how to get it 100% i knew it must be tames. So glad we can put fenrir back in jutenheim was real let down until I changed it. Everyone expected them to be same as mod and got sick of the map in a day. Now my servers always nearly full
the easiest place that I've found them is right next to the blue Obelisk. not sure why but every time i'm over there i see about 3-5 of them just hanging out by a wall. i wonder if they've clipped out of a cave or something. anyway surface taming them was really easy only hostile thing i see around there are a deodon or two. and a good shotty takes those out very fast.
I've tamed wild Desmos and I have cheat-spawned some Desmos, and I have produced babies from both. In all cases, their movement speed is 319%. Is there a way to get a slower movement speed? The high speed makes them difficult to maneuver when flying.
Lol where does wild card come up with this stuff? It’s like hey let’s make our next tame super duper hard to tame. “What if they don’t figure out how to tame it?” “No worries, Nooblets will figure out the best way to do so!”
If possible lead them outside where u have a sort of griffin cage ready lead them through it capture them and have mosschops ready for them to feed on them and if u have building in cave then use that too makes it easier and less of trying to lead it to a moschop
i had a lot of success killing them with another bat by flying backwards and hitting. also the first cave with the big ceiling has a bug that glitched me through the ceiling a bunch
