      Essentially to sum up the vid:
      1: search for the wild tames with the best stats to mate for the best base pair.
      2: have 1 base male and multiple base females
      3: once you get mutations on one stat, continue to breed for that stat only in order to get a consistent chain and the most amount of mutations for that stat
      4: if the chain is on a female mutation, breed that female with the base male in order to get a male with 0 on the patrilineal mutation chain and transfer the moms matrilineal chain onto the newbreds patrilineal chain.
      5: Once the mutations for one stat is complete, breed that for another stat with the base and search for another stat boost and a new mutation chain

    An extra tip. If your starter base pair isnt 150, you can potentially breed up a better pair as long as you make sure it doesnt have a mutation. For example i have a tamed 150F giga and an 84 male from taming. As long as it doesnt have a mutation, you can breed the 2 together to get a higher level male to make a base pair from. It can be useful for some more tedious, harder to tame creatures.

      Thing is, your Giga will almost never have better stats in any of the areas because the best stats you've got are probably the ones from your 150. How it works is that wild dinos have a system to give them levels randomly up to 150, if you get lucky one of the wild ones you get might get a lot less points in say Oxygen which is a worthless stat and in turn get his other stats boosted. That is why she recommends to tame a lot of 150 and see who has the better stats, because breeding another 150 will only inherit the stats of the parent with the highest ones. There's a neat mod I use to make this a little better that's called "Awesome Spyglass!" that shows exactly how many points wild dinos have in each stat, so you can just search for the one boosted stat you want with just your spyglass, a plus from it is that there is a possibility to get a

So before even mutating you have to get the best health and melee together for example. So your two 150s are level like 200. Then you start mutating. If you only use the 150 and an 80, odds are the 80 won’t even have any stats better then the 150, so you would only have a 150 still

    As a bonus side effect of gaining a Mutated Female, whilst breeding her with the Base Male, you can also let the Base Females also breed, which will then also potentially net you 1) More Base Females to add to the breeding line which will exponentially increase the speed of gaining mutations, and 2) Possibly a new mutation chain beginner, say a Damage mutated male that you can put aside for when you want to start that line off.

    Very well made guide with meticulous step-by-step explanations. The only real thing missing is showing that you can continue mutating infinitely. If you breed the Final females with the first base male, there is a (half) chance that you can get a mutation on the patrilineal side, as the first base male has 0/20 - this also has to coincide with the fact that the new born babies have to inherit stats from the final females. As there are still mutation slots avalible (on the first base male), you can actually continue to compound stats along the way by breeding the new mutations into the line. This is how alphas do it now - infinite breeding:
    If you breed a 20/20 male with a 20/20 female there is a 0 % chance of getting a mutation.
    The chance of getting a mutation is about 3 %, if both parents have avaliable mutation slots (ie. 19/20 patrilineal and 19/20 matrilineal). In very rare cases (0.06 % of the time) you can get a double mutation - this is because a mutation can happen on both the fathers and mothers side. Having a father 0/20 and a mother 20/20 (or a 200/20 mother) will essentially half the chance of mutations, and will also nulify any chance of a double mutation, because there are no mutation slots left on the mothers side. There is a 50/50 chance that if a mutation occurs the father mutates the mothers stats on the baby, and this is why you can mutate infinitly. You could breed your final females with a 19/20 melee male base to continue making better rexes, adding mutations to your line as you go.
    I believe this fact was also in the video, but I want to underline it: The max level a dino can be on official is level 450 - any dino above 450 will get deleted with server-restart.
    Make a new base pair by breeding a base with a level 1 rex to transfer level 1 food and/or oxygen stat - that way you can have even more points in the other stats, and still be at or below level 450.
    Thank you so much for this contribution - I can't imagine how long it must have taken you.

      Honestly I'd suggest not even trying this on official unless you have around 64 females. I've speced weight and can carry 32 eggs at once so it's just a solid number for me. But 64 should allow you to get mutations a lot easier. I'm playing solo currently and I only have 8, so I wait til they lay 4 eggs and hatch at the same time. About the time those are hatching the other 4 are just about or already there waiting to be incubated and hatched. Sadly theres times when i have to go 8+ cycles. I've legit gone passed 256 eggs a handful of times before getting a proper mutation for the chain I'm working on. Just bad luck I guess Haha. Only reason I get by with 8 is because I've cranked the intervals. If doing on official I'd lose my mind unless I had at least 4 groups to minimize the downtime for breeding to alleviate the headache of the cooldowns (at least for rexes) 4 pods of 16 would work decently well. Been a nightmare but having my rexes having an additional ~250% damage boost from birth is quite nice. Next chain is health. Gonna have me some boss rexes soon!

    You can run those chains farther than 20 mutations on one side as long as you are breeding with a base dino. I currently have Rex line with over 32k hp and 1213 melee at birth. You also need to talk about the dino level cap and how to breed while keeping dinos under the ultimate level cap. Dinos that break the cap can disappear (on official servers) and you lose the dino and all items in the inventory when that happens. The cap used to be 450 (in the past a dino would disappear if leveled above 450 the next time the server reset so we wanted our dinos born at 376 or under so the last level would be at 449 and there would be no risk of the dino disappearing.) but when they changed max level up for Dinos from 73 to 88 that probably changed to top cap and I have not seen a video on that yet. (Also eggs that hatched with a birth level over 450 would hatch without a baby because it disappeared at birth) Sometimes lesser stats like food or oxygen need to be bread down to make room for levels in more desirable stats. I also wonder if you were limited to 61 levels because 389+61 was 450. If you found a dino with lower food and/or oxygen and bread it with your final dinos to bring down the birth level under 376 I am willing to bet you max level increase would be greater than 61 levels.

    • @tyrantking9120
      @tyrantking9120 4 года назад

      more than 61 one levels could have been added on there, it just didn't have enough experience. the xp bar was not full after pumping the levels, also fairly sure the mutation cap is a setting which can be changed and default is 20 and if you continue after 20 mutations with the cap of 20 it will say 21/20 mutations and will get a colour change but no stat difference. or at least that is my understanding of it

    • @smdewitt
      @smdewitt 4 года назад

      So would you stop getting the next level in a chain of mutation if your dino level reached a certain percentage or stat number. We have been trying to find the next level in our chain, but our dino's were pretty high level to start and we can't seem to get past the fourth mutation in our chain. I am wondering with this cap if it can tell when a dino stat is at a max capacity and then will no longer give a mutation for that stat. We do however keep seeing different mutations. Any insight?

    I steered away from so many longer videos about mutations and breeding in Ark since they often get convoluted and confusing fast. 30 minutes in I leave, feeling like I knew less after watching..
    But then I watch the shorter videos claiming to teach you everything you need to know about breeding in 6 minutes and you learn nothing since what can you really teach in 6 minutes... ?
    Then I found this gem of a video. Yes it is a longer video.. and for a reason. You can watch this one video and learn literally everything you need to know.. You can absorb everything the creator says easier than most since she is thorough and explanative and not talking fast or giving half explanations. Even if it seems repetitive it is necessary and needed when dealing with SO many dinos and understanding what you need to do next, since one mistake can ruin days or weeks of work..
    Hands down this is the best video I have seem on this topic and now I feel like I actually understand the process enough to finally tackle bigger breeding projects. The best part is if I ever have any questions I have the video I need to refer to for answers. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this video.

    You are making me want to take a month off of work and breed like a mad man.

    This is the best guide. The other ones are harder to understand because they are like 20-30 minutes. For someone that is new to mutations this is perfect. Thank you

    I watched alot of guides to educate myself but with this guide I seemed to have finally picked up on everything and you even showed us what to do with a female which is something I was dreading having to deal with. Amazing guide thank you for this!

    I've bred some impressive creatures, but now I can up my game.
    Finally, a detailed, clear, and comprehensive guide to breeding. I had to learn the hard way, as there was no such guide when I started.
    Well done meshell. Great to see the shard in action too 😉

    This is by far the most comprehensive breeding guide I have watched! Thank you for the simple explanations and the reiterating of the important points.

    You should let that Therizinosaur go so it can enjoy what’s left of its life because it is going straight to Hell when it’s over.

    Even though youtube automatically played this video and i’m not actually using this video for breeding. This has to be the best tutorial video ever, she speaks so clearly and at a perfect tempo!
