In my experience with both styles i can tell you to wear the standard when you wearing casual clothes to hang out with your buddies, and use the low profile when you on a sport mood with shorts and active clothing
I started wearing low pros as soon as they came out, the key to these is you need to bend the brim a LOT more then ur norm, these hats hug ur head more so the brim looks weird when it’s to flat. These are my fav hats hands down, Only thing that sucks is most stores don’t carry them, would be nice to try them on before buying them to make sure ur getting the correct sizes.

I used to shrink the front with hot water when I got a new original 5950 for this reason, ordered a low profile to check them out. Good thing the inside changed from white to black, used to get dirty so fast.
You're right fella, the 5950 OG is THE best cap in the world. This is why so many people who know their hats still appreciate the superbly made and styled fitted. Plus they look sweet, I usually wear mine backwards as i love the closed back.

I'm was a size 7 in regular 5950 but all of a sudden they started fitting tight so i went up a size to 7 1/8 and the same thing happened so when i heard about low profile i gave it a try i got a 7 1/8 low profile hat and it fit perfect it was more comfortable and since then i stuck with low profile hats. Every now and then I'll wear a snapback too but i mostly stick to low profile.
What I found to be the best fit for me is buy a slightly smaller hat than my head size. It hurts at first but stretch it and curve the brim slowly and overtime the hat will perfectly molded to the head.
@@Roberto_ZR the trick is to put it in the hot water (just the "hat part") and afterwards wear it on your head to get the shape and fit right (as it shrinks back while losing temp). It will stay that way. I used to do it like that, cause my head is ridiculous (I need just under 7 size)
I'm a fan of the OG 59/50, but I'm with you on feeling self conscious that it looks too big. The part I struggle with is my head is too big for a 7-3/8 and a 7-1/2 has empty space around the temples. I kinda like the sloppy look and just roll with it. I think you can own whatever hat you wear b/c you got some swagger, brother.

Yeah that was my feelings on it. Wish they would put that contour brim /pre curved brim on the regular 59/50s . I get why they don't but guarantee they would sell . So many ppl buy them just to have to curve the brim anyway .
The original looks good on you. I bought some low-pros, and I like the the fact that I don't have a huge "front" on my head, but the low-pro doesn't have the same structural quality.
The 5950 is THE most meticulously constructed, quality and classy 'cap' you can buy ... STILL. They also look amazing, that's why so many prominent figures wear them. Whoever said it makes you look like a giant dick is either lacking basic perception or one of the few who don't suit them and boiling over in envy for all the many who look good in them.
I had a flat 59fifty and then the low profile, and yes the low profile bill feels much softer and not as expensive if you know what I mean😂, good video though!
Both look good on you. But i feel like the regular 59Fifty looks better on you imo, gives you more structure to your head and makes your face/jaw look more defined. You can reduce the pokey "towers" by occasionally mushing it down with your hands, will become more loose and helps lower the crown a bit and gradually the pokey towers will start to lower too. Heard that's what mlb baseball players do. If you see mlb games their hats don't look super poofy and the pokey towers are not as pronounced. great vid!
I bought the low pro version steeler hat because I thought the front might look too big .. but I have to say the regular one here keeps looking better to me .. the front just looks more boss .. the low pro seems to look more 'childish' or something like that .. and the regular has a better profile too from the side .. I think I might get me the reg 59fifty steeler hat now lol

I prefer low profile myself. I never was real big into fitted hats and always had adjustable hats. I’ve recently got into fitted hats and wasn’t sure on the size. I ordered a Braves BP low pro 59Fifty. In the Army I wore a size 7, so I ordered the hat in size 7. When I got it it was too small. I realized that in the Army you wore your hats/covers differently and didn’t pull them down like a regular hat. I went to Lids and tried on a few and needed a 7 1/8 (yeah a small head). They didn’t have the hat in stock, so I had to order it. It fits perfectly. I just ordered a Danville Braves low pro 59Fifty. It came today, and it fits a little more snug than my other low pro. It may be the difference in the material. The Atlanta Braves BP hat is made with that Hex Tech mesh material and the Danville Braves low pro is the normal polyester for the game hats. I don’t know if the different materials make for a different fit, or if it’s the fact that they are all hand made causing slight variations in the size.

I think it is head size really. The low profiles fit me better where the standard don’t fit as well on me. End if the day its all preference. I think the standard fits overtime well. I have had the same same Blue Jays hat for over 12 years and it fits like a glove. The old flying bluejay logo one

I think the og on me looks too big on the front so I rock the 9forty fits just right and still looks boss in the front .. it's also important at what angle you wear it .. it's gonna look goofy or more juvenile if the bill is worn pointing too much upwards .. lower looks better i.e. covering more of the forehead and the back a little higher .. if you wear the dodger low pro angled more downwards at the front, it'll look much better

It depends on the shape of your face. You actually look better if the regular 5950. I always buy low profile (low crown) because I look like a 12 year old kid wearing his dads hat when I wear the regular 5950.

I was team low profile but these days with the custom designs you can't get them and regular crowns have started growing on me (when I put on a low profile now it does look like how you just felt in this video, you didn't get a bad one they just look like that 😅). Use steam to soften up the bill and shape it on the low profile. Sizing I'd guess there's like half a size difference so you can go one bigger than the regular (tight/snug fitting regular) indeed

Standard looks better. It elongates your head instead of the low which makes your head look round. I prefer elongated. Plus, I have some hair and the regular one wouldn’t flatten it out as much as the low.
I’m pretty sure that low pro has something wrong with the brim. I’ve been wearing hats basically every day for the past 32 years. Back when it was Starter, The Game and the original New Era before the flag on the side and the all the stickers. I remember going to 3 different malls and trying on every one in your size just to find a New Era that had a straight brim. And you can call them old man hats all you want but I only wear the low pros now cause I have the wrong shaped head for the 59fifty. Looks like I’m walking around with a billboard on my head.
Low profile ones tend to make the head look like a cone. While they are “lower profile”, they don’t keep the same width of the crown that original 5950s have - key for dudes that have bigger heads (like myself). I really want to like the low pros, but they just look like ass to me lol.
I can't wear the regular one I hate how much it sticks up and doesn't fit my head right. Low profile fits me better but they seem to be making them different than years ago. They look like they're shrunk and the brim is short. Maybe I should've went 1 size up idk. The size I got fits my head but maybe it would look less small if I got a size up idk.

I think the regular looks better , I feel like the low pro hats you have to have a certain head shape to really pull it off . They don't look good on 7 1/2 on up heads IMO. The regular 59/50 looked better IMO. Wished they would go ahead and put the countour brim on the regular ones in today's hat market may as well guess they don't because a lot of people still like the o.g. flat brim look . It would solve having the bend the brim yourself etc. So....in short I like how they have a pre curved contour brim shits perfect to but on bigger headed ppl they just don't look right to me . i started buying the 5950's and the lowpro's and went through this whole body dismorphia thing last year. there are a lot of factors that change which one will look better on you. the color, the logo on the front, the bend in the bill. clothes matter too. if you are wearing a tank top and shorts, the regular is going to look huge, but if you are wearing winter clothes, the low pro looks like it got shrunk in the dryer. if you are going to wear the new era hats, you are going to constantly be chasing that perfect looking hat. unless you buy the 3930. dont get into the 5950's unless you are ready to obsess over them.

I tried the Low Profile and it doesn't fit the same. doesn't have the depth to sit snug on my fat (7 3/4) head. Had to return and go with original. If you have a big head it may not feel the same.

low profile only looks good if your head is 1/4 or smaller. Anything bigger go with standard and make sure you get proper sizing

The original looks better on you but I feel you, it’s definitely not for everyone. That’s why I only wear 9forty or 39thirty even tho i like 59fifty it just doesn’t look good on me.
Standard looks better. It elongates your head instead of the low which makes your head look round. I prefer elongated. Plus, I have some hair and the regular one wouldn’t flatten it out as much as the low.
The original is the way to go! Wear it a lot and it’ll mold perfectly to your head. If you want something super comfortable get a new era 9twenty

I’m pretty sure that low pro has something wrong with the brim. I’ve been wearing hats basically every day for the past 32 years. Back when it was Starter, The Game and the original New Era before the flag on the side and the all the stickers. I remember going to 3 different malls and trying on every one in your size just to find a New Era that had a straight brim. And you can call them old man hats all you want but I only wear the low pros now cause I have the wrong shaped head for the 59fifty. Looks like I’m walking around with a billboard on my head.

I believe Low profile hats are the hats professionals wear on field.
players have a choice between them. i know this year for the white sox, tim anderson wore the regular 5950 and liam hendricks wore the low pro.

Low profile ones tend to make the head look like a cone. While they are “lower profile”, they don’t keep the same width of the crown that original 5950s have - key for dudes that have bigger heads (like myself). I really want to like the low pros, but they just look like ass to me lol.
I can't wear the regular one I hate how much it sticks up and doesn't fit my head right. Low profile fits me better but they seem to be making them different than years ago. They look like they're shrunk and the brim is short. Maybe I should've went 1 size up idk. The size I got fits my head but maybe it would look less small if I got a size up idk.

I think the regular looks better , I feel like the low pro hats you have to have a certain head shape to really pull it off . They don't look good on 7 1/2 on up heads IMO. The regular 59/50 looked better IMO. Wished they would go ahead and put the countour brim on the regular ones in today's hat market may as well guess they don't because a lot of people still like the o.g. flat brim look . It would solve having the bend the brim yourself etc. So....in short I like how they have a pre curved contour brim shits perfect to but on bigger headed ppl they just don't look right to me . At the end of the day though bro wear whatever you feel bro .
i started buying the 5950's and the lowpro's and went through this whole body dismorphia thing last year. there are a lot of factors that change which one will look better on you. the color, the logo on the front, the bend in the bill. clothes matter too. if you are wearing a tank top and shorts, the regular is going to look huge, but if you are wearing winter clothes, the low pro looks like it got shrunk in the dryer. if you are going to wear the new era hats, you are going to constantly be chasing that perfect looking hat. unless you buy the 3930. dont get into the 5950's unless you are ready to obsess over them.

I see what you mean with a low profile hat, almost fits like a dad hat no shape at all and you’re right it does look worn I’m sure they are good hats but out of the 2 the 5950 definitely looked better low pro hat looks worn out and not even on your head

The Low Crown version looks too "Little League Baseball" on you but the OG 59Fifty looks good.
I tried the Low Profile and it doesn't fit the same. doesn't have the depth to sit snug on my fat (7 3/4) head. Had to return and go with original. If you have a big head it may not feel the same.

Ive always wore 59fifty but ive always had issues certain ones look good and certain dont so i just bought a lowpro right now hope it fits good
