Today I have learned that ZoomZike REALLY likes the song BlueBird from Naruto to the point where he would name his own children after people who worked on the song.
I can't wait to see what other sorts of collectables could become adopted. Rules: They must be finite, not endlessly farmable. They mustn't be the main collectable because they usually get the stage name instead. They gotta be a tad out of the way for a fun challenge. I could picture every Strawberry in Celeste being adopted.
ZoomZike took the time to give amazingly creative names for all 240 coins in Super Mario Sunshine and I can't even find inspiration to start on my essays.
Someone needs to make a mod where an animation like the Mario Odyssey moon animation plays when you get a blue coin and shows these names and descriptions! "Blue coin get! Snorkel : although not a place you'd want to go snorkeling due to the fish that's intent on pulling you down to the abyss and drowning you"

I think the only one I could see warranted renamed would be Trickster, since he is sneaky, but he is also the village welcoming community so he might like that recognition. But I honestly prefer the blue coins over the other games. Except for a way to keep track of them in game, and the implications of the tanuki black market, they're much more satisfying than other collectables.

#188 Elevator and #194 Jet were problems for me because back in the day on my copy of Sunshine, nabbing either one of these had like an 80% chance of freezing the game. You (and by you I mean I) just had to hope and pray the game would decide to register the coin without crashing. Never figured out why it was these two in particular, but at least now, all these years later, I can finally put names to these two troublemakers. Thanks ZoomZike!
#124 is the hardest coin in the game to get because you have to ruin the strollin' stus' family vacation and then live with the guilt. he just wanted to take his kids to the park

Honestly I never attempted going for the blue coins. They seemed way too tedious to be worth it. But maybe, JUST MAYBE, these names will make me like them more. . . . Nope, they're still too tedious. T'was worth a shot. But I can't deny how good the names are though.

Before starting a new game, download the app "Blue coin tracker" on Android (dunno if it's also on iOS), then whenever you collect a new one check the app and mark the exact one you got. This way, you'll know exactly which ones you collected and which ones you're missing, with instructions on how to get them. Yes, it's still a bit tedious since you have to check your phone for every coin, but it's way better then having 25 out of 30 coins in an area and having no clue on which ones you're missing.
aside from the blue coin tracker, the hack super mario sunburn also makes exploring for blue coins in general a lot more enjoyable and free-form due to the game being made more open. Plus, if you play with 70 star as a win condition, the stars they give you can let you skip shine sprites you don't like, lmao.
This video is the perfect resource for collecting blue coins cuz there's no overlong explanation, and it shows you where it is in relation to everything else

I think the main reason that the blue coins are hated is mostly because theres not an easy way to track each blue coin/ a tracker to allow you to find the clostest blue coin of an area, a hat in time has something similar with its tokens/snatcher coins which is solved with a token badge.
Nintendo took the laziest route when porting Sunshine, they could have added a Blue coin radar or at least a counter to keep track on how many Blue Coins a player has collected. If Zelda HD got significant improvements on how triforce maps were handled in the OG version, I doubt it would be hard for Nintendo to make improvements on the absolutely atrocious Blue coin hunt.
