I love this series of Maa ki baat. Every episode is so full of love & affection. Thanks very much Chef Ranveer for these episodes. You treat all mothers so well & make them feel so comfortable. Most of times I start crying in between watching these episodes. Even my mom is a great cook.M also blessed with the most beautiful & loving Mom.love u Mom ❤️
I love Geeta Ji and her simple recipe. Home cooked meals are so wholesome and delectable. I can't understand why so many RUclipsrs push for their "restaurant or dhaba style" dishes? Kerala Sambhar has a unique taste, and any Tamilian influence can only compliment it. Thank you, Chef, for featuring Geeta Ji on your channel, and thanks to her for sharing her family recipe. Love it! 🥰
This reminds me of my grandma's sambar. She was an awesome cook! Her pickles, to sambar to vethakozhambu, to Currys to podis etc etc the list goes on and on! Wow! I went into a state of nostalgia after seeing this.
What i have heard is, Lime is given as parting gift to guests after a wedding because after a heavy meal and for those who have to make long journeys back to their house, Smelling lime can reduce the travel sickness
Nope.... In older days not much weddings happens with far away.... The lemon is for good digestion..... After going home u have to drink a lime juice for proper digestion
I made this today...And ufff... whole family praised me for making the best sambar ever.... before I used to make tamil style sambar.... but this recipe is just mind blowing....
Really as ranveer said ...you can find different tastes of same dish in kerala ..districtwise placewise it changes...here in calicut at my home we prepare sambhar ...by dryroasting all masala with grated coconut till it gets brown ..and then grind it ...rest procedure is same...
Yeah... Yeah... It's a South Indian... I never ever thought... I will ever get to see a South Indian cuisine on your RUclips... I am sooo happy... Smiling wide...Aaaahahaha.. I love love Iyer recipes. Ranveer I love their bakery stuffs. Given a chance try some Iyengar Bakery stuffs... And if it is Laxmi Venkatesh Iyengars... it's awesome. I do make sambhar, Rasam... Many more. Here in Assam my neighbours, relatives, family friends are crazy for dosas. Yes..I make good dosas for them. And varieties of chutnies... Ranveer..you too come home I will be very happy to cook for you..
I am from Maharashtra For education purpose staying in Trivandrum I tried this sambar many times but always failed to match that taste. Thank you so much for giving this perfect recipe... specially sambar masala Great.
The best part about your show chef is that u keep things simple the way it has always been in our kitchens where cooking was not a task or job but pure love in old days. Thanks for this.
Though there are numerous chef, Few of them got the place they desreve.. Among them finger counted were willing to give.. You are the rarest. The reason is you make you work look so easy and reachable to all. God bless you as god blessed us through you
My in-laws are from Kerala, I’m from Karnataka. Sambaar unke yahan bhi bannta hai, aur hamare yahan bhi... slightly different from each other but they both go & hit the spot!!! 🤤🤤🤤 Thank you for showcasing this one soooo beautifully! ❤️🙏🏼🌹
Hey Mr chef as a bengali woman i stay in Mangalore and after bengal this place is known to be a fish heaven, specially sea fish....In bengal we have river fish majorly but here I had to learn the cooking process of sea fish....And it is amazing in taste....Totally different than bengalese fish cuisine.....Please try it once in your show....
Nice recipe of Geeta RK. Thanks to her. I myself is a South Indian. Even I do variety of Sambars. I was at Palghat for sometime when my husband was posted there. Nice place. Taste kare taste kare🤗Thank u for sharing the recipe #Ranveer
Palakkadan food of the Iyers are different from the palakkadan food of the nairs or malayalees from Kerala . The Iyers from palakkad are tamilians who migrated to Kerala . They are called as Palakkadan Iyers !
Thanks Laila for clarity we from north would have never known this. I feel proud to know about India. Thanks again. I am pure veg and have stayed in and around Chennai for many weeks and am at home with food there.
As usual this episode was also the best. My half roots are from Kerala, and this made me go through all my childhood summer vacations with Ammachi and my cousins in Kerala. And just to add my personal opinion which i am feeling that a typical keralite will never add coriander leaves for garnishing in Sambhar... they just dont like it, but everyone has their own version, the sambhar i would say it differs in every house of Kerala, which is my personal experience. Chaddo coriander ko, but this was my kerala best episode. Looking forward for more Maa love😊
Iam a Palakadan but never knew this kind of sambar . We roast coconut n curry leaves as well, tadka is with coconut oil mustard, hing, methi, curry leaves, n red chillie. Thanks for this recipe.🙏🏽
Thankyou so much to keep finding ways to be connected with us. आपके खाने और आपकी नीयत को नमन🙏 I still remember the kind of respect you gave to malwa poha, and how its different with maharashtra poha. सबको उसका बकाया मान देना कोई आपसे सीखे👍
One thing I have noticed from every corners of our country's different types of recipe from north to south, east to west and north easth india that we could be a little different from each other but our hearts are as one indian. And that s the thing is TADAKA of Any kinds of dal almost same method. Gujarati, punjabi ,kashmiri, south indian or Arunachal Pradesh , Meghalaya whatever states. Our s cooking methods almost same..just a little changes and tasted different bit souls are same. Respect for my motherland india.
Loved Maa Ki Baat episodes... so thoughtful of you bring this idea... we felt like home... every episode brings new taste, new people, and a new story... worth watching
That's right. That's what tadka actually means. Put some jeera or mustard or chilli in hot oil and that's it. This is the first time I've seen a chef doing tadka this way. The chef clearly knows his love for Indian food.
Hats off chef! It's amazing that you've brought so many mothers in your show. I'm sure everyone of them brought a unique experience for you. I wish my mom could cook with you. She's an amazing home chef and it would have been an awesome experience for her!
Oh... thanks...in Kerala itself many types of sambar we prepare...in Trichur we toast coconut and grind with some ingredients and on tadka we use two more things along with mustard.. that is dry Madras red chili 🌶️ and ofcourse curry leaves.
Actually i am from jaipur and i didn't see this type of sambhar. It's really different n very amazing. I think only south Indians can prepare this type of sambhar.
Another gem Ranveer! Surely will try out this method of cooking sambhar. I prepare mine a bit differently though which is a hit with our south-Indianfriends. Not anywhere near your standard of cooking. I too enjoy myself in my kitchen and love trying out new recipes. God bless you!
Wonderful show, great to see a guest cooking authentic sambhar. The happiness on Geeta ji's face after the cooking was done was wonderful. Her eyes were almost teary with happiness and the joy of sharing the recipe. My regards to both of you. Thank you.
We add a sprig of curry leaves and broken dried red chillies in seasoning after the mustard splutters.. The fried curry leaves and red chillies would enhance the taste.

earlier Palakkad was part of Tamil Nadu. They didn't migrate, palakkad joined kerala and kanyakumari left kerala.

Hi Ranveer, This is really beautiful show but its little fast when you are trying to learn.....
But the best show for learning real authentic food.
Change playback speed to 0.75 👍🏾
No Need To Eat Meal,
After see her Smile...So lovely😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Aunty is so beautiful..I watched aunty's smile and personality more than the recipe

I love keraliyan people and food .. I will definitely try this recipe for sure 😍❤️❤️❤️
This is not the typical Kerala sambar.... More of Iyer sambar.
Mam is a perfect balanced combination of modern and traditional culture. She is so sweet and humble. Many thanks for the recipe 🙏❤️
I am a Palakkad Iyer obsessed with cooking. You should try the molagutal and the keerai avial. They rock.
Well. That's some sambar which no one will find anywhere in kerala. "An extremely stripped down version" , would be an understatement.
Yes. We never make it like this
Video doesn't show ingredients properly. For eg: after grinding coconut with water the final product and its consistency was not shown.
priyal khetan go wrong once or twice...experiment with quantity...you would be a wonderful chef.
priyal khetan also, the consistency is shown afterwards @6:50
Wow! Definitely try this love from Nepal 🇳🇵

Big fan of south Indian cuisine. I like sambar of Shetty's more..
@R In Shetty's sambar there is tomato and tamari too which gives it spicy and sour taste together. And it has more vegetables.
