    Best thing I ever did was quit smoking weed. I was an excessive, compulsive smoker for the better part of 15 years. I finally had enough and just quit. It will be a year on May 15th. Anyone can do it.

    If you smoke everyday, try and stay a few days without it, and pay attention to the silence that finally comes back to your mind. Weed makes you go nuts and you don't even realize it. You can be the worst overthinker in the world, being without cannabis will make you calmer. You will actually experience what is around you, instead of being inside that cozy mist.

    • @orangeradishneo
      @orangeradishneo 5 месяцев назад +25

      It’s the opposite for me. I started smoking to calm my mind down, and that’s what it generally does for a lot of people, especially when first starting out. I used to have really bad anxiety, I used to wake up with my heart RACING so badly I’d vomit. I didn’t change my smoking habits, in fact it’s increased, but I don’t experience that anxiety anymore and haven’t in a while. Not saying the weed cured it, this was years of seeing doctors trying out different medications for that and my depression. The ADHD symptoms are what’s alleviated by smoking.

I still get cravings every now and then, but the amount of positives in my life since quitting aren’t enough for me to sabotage that and start smoking again. Icl it's tough, I've tried to quit about 5/6 times before and due to many different reasons go back. This last stint was different though, i found myself needing a smoke when i wake up or before going to bed. For the first time I can actually see WOW this is affecting my life to the point where it isn't a nice chilled smoke at the end of the day but instead something I need to enjoy the day or have a good mood and without it I can't recognise myself. Been tough and it's still so early, but reading all these comments has made me realise I'm not alone and I'm not a failure. I hope like others this can be a push for others like it has been for me. Don’t matter how much i “see it as a problem”. When i quit I can’t sleep. Basically at all. Then during the day my anxiety is extremely high especially during sunset/nighttime because i just know i will toss and turn again all night. It is impossible to quit. Idk what to do. The insomnia and anxiety feed off each other and seem to never end until i cave from fear of delirium from lack of sleep and hampered immune system from it and the anxiety and a fear i will then get sick. The winter time makes it even harder with sunset being so dang early (if we see sun at all for weeks at a time) and the frigid temps making getting exercise hard.

      I had the same problem. It feels like you’re stuck and it won’t get better even if you quit but that is untrue. It’s a part of the addiction talking, if you’ve ever smoked nicotine it’s a lot like that. There’s so much struggle with quitting at every moment in the beginning and that gets more minimal overtime. I quite smoking weed 2 weeks ago, the first few days are hard but you have to accept it and not resent it. The negative feelings that come with quitting is your body healing and re introducing itself to how it is meant to be without any substance. I have an anxiety disorder and I feel for the first time, in a long time, I can care for my anxiety properly and feel the most in touch with my body and mind. It does get easier, and I swear once you get through the toughest parts the sobriety is the new high. I am a rock when I sleep, my dreams are insane, and I have more energy throughout my day. You can do it!!!

    I started smoking for chronic Fibromyalgia pain and inability to sleep. It has helped me immensely, and I've stopped considering taking my life since I discovered that it is helping me. I actually had one doc who had me on Fentanyl patches, which nearly killed me. I couldn't live that way anymore, so I opted to wean myself off Fentanyl. That was truly a hellish experience, but I did it by myself. I knew I would have to have something to help me with my pain and insomnia, so I opted for medical cannabis. It was the best decision I ever made. It sucks that there are doctors like this one here who discourages the use when there are people like me who depend on in to be able to function .

    Weed is a very interesting drug and I guess it effects different people in different ways. I always like to hear other people's perspective on this drug, especially hearing advice and comments from professionals. I have been smoking weed since my teen years and I am now 67. It probably has affected my brain but then again, I am not sure if it has or not. or to what extent. I do not smoke it every day and I can go weeks or longer without smoking it and I have zero craving for it. In fact, there are times I have zero desire to smoke it, but in the right environment I just love smoking weed. I have the most intense workouts and I am very in tune with my body, it gives me a ferocious appetite and it's a great aphrodisiac. I do not drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes and eat healthy I have no other vices in life. I am sure it's not good for me but I have no desire or intentions of quitting, there are times I look forward to enjoying and plan my recreation time around it and I am not sure if that is an addiction element to it or not. If I smoked it every day and had a craving for it think I would look at thing differently.

    2 years ago I was diagnosed with perianal fistula. Since i was a poor migrant in a poor european country I didn't have the best health care for it .
    Recently i moved and things even got worse because I used hash to cope with the multiple painful abscesses that would emerge every 3 months. I am 30 yo and i get surgery 2 times a year o' average. Recently doctors have explained that cigarettes and hash were probably one of the reasons i get this or get it more than often. I remember seeing this video a month ago after surgery. And being motivated by the comments to stop. I did and the first 2 weeks were hell physically and mentally. Thank you all for the shared stories.
    I am 'not judging anyone but my advice is: ( if you regret doing it frequently after smoking and if you feel that you can't live without it, and if you feel its preventing you from doing stuff you like and that you're health is affected by it then it's probably bad for you.
    I am one of those people that got brainwashed by the weed movement that had a point in decriminalization but i feel they deliberately ignored the negative effects of it and didn't warn enough kids like me that got brainwashed by their videos.

    I quit cold turkey two days ago and feel like I’m dying… maybe I should taper myself off or something? I need some guidance. I woke up today after feeling sick yesterday (basically ruined my own thanksgiving) and I thought I was going into a cute Organ failure 😅
    Side effects of quitting are No joke…

      I’m 11 days sober brother I just quit over this thanksgiving break. I was a chronic smoker for 2 1/2 years taking 5 to 7 bong rips a day. First 5 days are HELL, but everything in your life improves after that I can assure you. I lost 10 pounds couldn’t sleep and couldn’t eat but just like that i’m eating again sleeping again and being a hell of a lot more productive. I’m looking forward to continuing my sobriety. You can do it just remember it’s all temporary pain for extraordinary long term effects. I felt it was making me a shell of who I can be. It’s not easy I tried quitting so many times but this time I can’t keep throwing out empty promises. Change starts when you want it to. Keep pushing and make it happen brother.

      I’m also found that vaping, drinking 4/5 cups of coffee a day , and working out has allowed me to pull away from it and I use these things as an outlet or crutch whenever I have the urge. My roomates still smoke in front of me and I’m at the point where it won’t affect me. Just get through that beginning pain and the people you love will be able to see a difference. My own parents and roommates have motivated me and noticed a difference in my behavior which is encouraging. My own personal goal is to pass a drug test so I can prove to myself that i’m no longer a slave to an inanimate object. And maybe one day I can reintroduce it into my life with better boundaries and a sense of control but i need to do this now. KEEP PUSHING.

    I am a heavy, chronic user of many years who dabbed rosin/wax/shatter every day, smoked flower every night, and took a cart to work with me. I am on day 4 of quitting due to probation. I have had insomnia since a pre-teen so i will share what has helped me on my journey so far: I take CBD gummies (make sure there is no delta 8/9/10 etc. in its contents) every morning and evey night. It drastically has helped me by 40% with body aches, restlesness, etc. CBD is the medicinal benefits without the high. I highly recommend it. I also bought melatonin gummies and i take (2) of those before bedtime. It has been a damn lifesaver for me. You all can do it, if i can do it. You should have someone in your circle to help hold you accountable to quitting and root for you along the way. In my case, it was my girlfriend. So far, im already seeing the benefits of quitting camnabis personally. Im having dreams again, mind you they are oretty vivid right now 😂. Each day im more and more proud of myself for abstaining. Good luck everyone! 🎉

Are you talking about actual drug testing you have to prepare for or are you coming from the perspective that it being out of your system will have some noteworthy effect? Because the latter sentiment is based on a false premise about what the pharmacokinetics actually signify. The truth is that they don't really signify much.

Its weird to understand- addiction to natures drugs is quite a mind fu.k in comparison to addiction to hard chemicals, alcohol and other man made drugs. This one u will always love and respect and take accountability for the problems ur facing instead of blaming an innocent plant. Thats the difference; where alcohol is just pure evil.

    I had terrible insomnia when I tried to quit. I am definitely still quitting, but I do have to do it slowly. I have been smoking all day every day for 35 years and yea.....its a problem now. I don't want it anymore. I want to feel sober. Don't even know what its like to be completely sober since I was very young. Started as a young teenager. So I went from all day every day to none during the day, and only at night to help sleep. Working so far. I do use CBD during the day to help satiate the inhale exhale habit of smoking. The next step will be less at night to help sleep. The final step will be no CBD and no weed. I put my body into shock when I stopped cold turkey. When you've been smoking as long as I have, its hard to do cold turkey. I never thought it would be that bad till I tried. I thought I could at any time because I am a high functioning person with or without. Wrong. I will stay on this path . Thanks for reassuring its ok this way.

    • @Ryan88881
      @Ryan88881 2 месяца назад

      Do you have any idea how inept someone would have to be in order to lend any credence to the claim that THC causes "atherosclerosis"? That might be the single dumbest assertion I've heard all year not even joking. That makes literally no sense and there's no conceivable mechanism in which that would even be plausible genius. There's only one appropriate response to reading a claim like that, study or not, and it would be laughter. It's not even a believable lie in the first place. I mean come on dude. Atherosclerosis? from THC?? Anyone who knows what atherosclerosis actually is would know how utterly ridiculous that statement is and how much it's lacking just in sheer plausibility, never mind actual empirical data of user populations.

    • @Ryan88881
      @Ryan88881 2 месяца назад

      And what do you know... looks like there's a 2006 study (and a secondary source study from 2012 citing this) highlighting the *atheroprotective* effects of THC. Obviously if anything, cannabinoids/THC would clearly thwart the development of atherosclerosis, so to sit here and say that it somehow *causes* it is.. just a whole new level of ignorance. I guarantee this rodent experiment was just another case of "let's suffocate them in smoke with limited oxygen and blame any and all outcomes on the THC.." type of "study". Again, the problem here is plausibility. This isn't an example of some "surprising result", no this is an example of contradicting the already known facts and realities of the drug. That isn't a type of result that just becomes readily accepted and not given scrutiny. No, a study or experimental scientific result that indicates something like THAT is literally just a signifier to repeat the experiment over or refine one's methodologies because that isn't even plausible in theory.
