  • www.vladtv.com - Maino opens up about his beef with Trinidad James after the Atlanta rapper claimed that NY didn't represent its own artists during a Converse event in Brooklyn, and added that the South runs New York music, which set the "Let it Fly" rapper off. Maino then explains what led to their phone conversation that was leaked online, and he reveals if he was the one who released the phone call online.
    Maino also talks about why he feels the "All Gold Everything" rapper contradicted his argument by taking his statements to a disrespectful place, and gives examples to support his argument.

    Comments I read so far haven't grasped what Maino's talking about. With specificity, Maino was triggered by him saying"
    "...I ain't trying to start nothing, but if you want do something we can do it, cuz I don't give a fuck."
    That^ in the context of the statement as a whole was a "challenge" outside of music.
    Not saying I dis/agree, but where I come from, where many people between NY down to Florida come from, thems fightin' words.

      Maino problem was triggered by his lack of comprehension skills and a opportunistic spark when he saw he could benefit off of TJ's words. Clearly TJ was responding to the crowd of New Yorkers around him in the audience who may have taken offense while ranting and not the boggy men of NY. Maino is a opportunist! Leaking phone calls and shit.

    How can anyone doubt Maino's relevance? Is this based on radio prominence or artistic ability? Maino talks about real life occurrences that happen everyday. Maino one of the last great, credible out there. He's an authentic representative of New York hip hop.

    • @horacegulleyjr1751
      @horacegulleyjr1751 10 лет назад +5

      I can rap, and I when I hear songs from Maino like ''Yesterday'' and ''Hand Of God,'' I understand his importance to the rap game. He's a missing link. He actually talks about something. All of his music brings a authenticity and raw element that can't be denied. He may not be poetic, but he is revealing and passionate. That's more than you an say for most.

    People can say what they want to say about Maino being a bully, but anybody in their right mind knows that disrespecting a city and challenging them in that city will generate heat. Maino at least handled it like a man instead of the other way. Southern rappers don't let the hype make you lose your mind. Keep it respectful

      SOID DRONE SLAYER Don't play dumb. When TJ made them comments he wasn't talking about the NYPD or corporate america. He was talking specifically to the PEOPLE in NYC that listen and participate in hip hop. So it's obvious those people gone respond regardless of whether its NYC or any other place. All that ish you talking about aint even relevant....

Not to mention the fact that he's from TRINIDAD! How do you come over here disrespecting ANY state? Especially when you getting money in THIS country? C'mon son!

      dont matter where you are from. TJ was not disrespecting the US or NY. he just stated that NY didnt support their own artist. how is that disrespecting. if anything this punk ass nigga should be mad at his state for not showing him love. honestly NY hasnt been showing love to thier rappers for a long time now. if its not Jay, NY is like fuck these niggas. TJ is right though, westcoast and southside rappers are running NY and the rest of the hip hop country.

  • @alexandermegas2009

    Respect to Maino. I understand what he is saying and I feel his angle and frustration but I think what it truly is with a lot of artists and people from the south is they feel like they are being hated on for winning commercially/culturally. Because back in the days when New York was all you heard, people accepted and respected it, practically begging for the opportunity to get respect. Now, the tables turn and they got people tellin them what they should say, or they should be making speeches to the city to help them.. So I understand why Maino had to say something but I too understand the south because the further down you go, the worst they treated you since before Hip Hop until Master P changed things.

    You don't Bun b would step up n called out Trinidad James if he said that bout Houston?
    You don't think Game would said something if trinidad James said that bout L.A?
    Or you don't think Trick Trick wouldn't of said anything if trinidad said that bout Detroit? ...if anyone should be questioned bout loyalty in new York and be called an attention hore its papoose...he goes off on kendrick for being competive but doesnt say shit when a outsider come to town and BLATANTLY disrespects Nyc .... idk how NYC get down but citys like Detroit, chicago, Philly, houston, L.a wouldn't take that...Nyc show some leadership ..of all people trinidad james tho!? Let's keep it real the south is running it and N.Y ain't popping but to all the niggas tryna shit on us take a sec , Think about the music that's poppin right now coming out of the south and hip hop as a whole and ask yourself " Will I Give A Fuck About These Songs In 5- 10 years or Even Next Month ? Lets "keep it real' as they say in NY. Alot of these "Hot Songs" and "Hot Rappers" aren't making classic albums or records like We 80's and 90's ya'll made classics too don't get it twisted but this all This " Turnt up Trap Music" ain't fucking with our shit Yes NY Is Dead Right Now but The South has put out enough TRASH Rappers and One Hit Wonders AND Forgettable Record to fill an entire Graveyard in The Last 10 years. I Love Southern Hip Hop I got no problem with Ya'll running shit but I wanna hear better music

      NY is where hip-hop started but once it ventured outside of the NY, hip-hop grew & got better. It took off and started generating opportunities around the world. NY has got to get back to doing music that the masses outside of the city like & respect as "music." not just boroughs & boroughs of bitter ass niggas taking down on the world. It will never be what it once was. get over it and make some of that new shit. Maino appears to be reaching on this one though.

That's called a classic; shit came out in 1991. The Beatles; 50 years ago. Legacy's are the only thing that keep an artists work alive; The South will end up with none

I'm not arguing that he shouldn't have checked the man for disrespecting. Let's make that CLEAR. My thing is you DON'T release your private convo when your whole persona is that you're "gangsta"! I don't know ANY gangstas that have to go THAT far to prove ANYTHING! Hell, I don't know any REGULAR people that have to go that far to prove anything! For us "regular" people, that's some BULLYING shid to release a phone convo like that! And NOBODY likes that! Not even gangstas! It made him look weak! But IDGAF about that really. I ain't buying NONE of their music. I just respected Maino's "gangsta". I guess I can't do THAT either since I'm just a regular ol' person! WOW.

    I personally believe a lot of Hip Hop artists also need to apologize for glorifying violence, objectifying women, exalting materialism over life, devaluing life, promoting the abuse of drugs and alcohol, advocating robbery, endorsing genocide and fratricide, emasculating other men, rationalizing wrongdoing, minimizing personal responsibility, justifying ill gotten gains, ignoring the insight of elders, perpetuating stereotypes, and believing that their lies are true.

Maino and rappers of his ilk from NY are putting out good music. Thats not saying Trinidad is either but majority of what he said is true. Hits or the most popular songs that are out now, at this point of time are primarily coming from the south and/or the west.

    First and foremost I am from Atlanta born and raised. And what Trinidad did was cowardly a bitch made. One of the best If not best southern rappers and my favorite Andre 3k has never done that. For Trinidad to go to New York on their stage and talk that big boy shit was disrespectful. He didn't say "if you got a problem with what I said step your bars or lyrics up". No he threatened them on some tough nigga shit. You talk like that expect some New York cats to be on your head. I rep the south but I can't stand behind this clown on what he said. First he's what's wrong with southern music today there's no substance. So he should have kept his mouth closed in the first place. He's not even in 2chainz or future position. maino was hot for one song and had another. thats it. after his first maybe second year, he fell off. he didnt cameo or get featured on shit. why... because he is not a good rapper. people gravitated to him because he was from bedford-stuyvesant (bed-stuy, where BIG was from) but once they heard this niggas shit, jumped off board. not saying that TJ is a good rapper, but he career will be longer and more sufficient than mainos. so if maino is one of NYs good rappers, NY is in trouble.

    You know what? I can't think of one ESTABLISHED, CREDIBLE New York artist that has replied to this. Even with the whole Kendrick thing. New York rappers that really mattered didn't bother responding. Think about it.
    ..and don't you dare mention Papoose, Fabolous or Shine.
    You know why? Because the New York rappers that are worth anything are busy with something else: making money. Only children sit around and bicker over BS like this. A real artist would get out and prove Trinidad wrong instead of instigating beefs back and forth.
    All of these C list rappers have the game confused. If you think you're the best? Prove it.
    I swear, Maino seems to be catching too many feelings on this issue.

    It was time were NY radio was criticized heavily for only breaking NY artist. So, ur one should feel appreciative that they can go to the biggest market of Hip-Hop music and hear their songs being played in heavy rotation. NY always had a strong underground scene for NY artist who have felt slighted by the radio politics, so, I don't feel that the NY sound has died, if anything it's has evolved with the influence of the southern sound being mixed with the traditional NY sound. Pro Era is nice ASAP Mob, Flat Bush Zombies, The Under Achievers, etc. I like the melting pot of what's going on now. A lot of 90's M.C's are still relevant as well, it's not like Jay-Z, Cam, Mob Deep, Sean Price, Wu Tang, etc. have stop making music. I don't listen to the radio no more, the NY sound can be found on the internet on satellite radio stations and the like, the market of how we can hear what we like has changed, not necessarily a dying out of the artist. Aside from that, I understand where Maino is coming from.

    • @chris45627
      @chris45627 10 лет назад +1

      That's what i've been telling people Ny Sound is dead Mainstream Wise yes but We still got a Ton of Underground Rappers like Roc Marciano , Skyzoo, Sean Price, Action Bronson, KA, Beast Coast Movement, I don't think Boom Bap is gonna work in the Club anymore but On Radio Maybe. NY Don't really make Mainstream Rappers because Over here We Don't go to the Club We Party in The Projects. Our Drug Dealers aren't really Flashy anymore. And its Fucking Winter almost all Year over here so everyone is mad. This is why we make Grimy Street Depressing Shit and Then Rappers get rich and make Baller music about Champagne and Cars. But now there's No Place for The Street/Lyrical Rappers in Mainstream Hip Hop so NY Rappers don't have a chance unless they Do the Down South Thing
