- A few months back, I challenged four RUclipsrs to BEAT Pokémon Emerald Kaizo's first gym leader...this time I wanted to see if they could beat the next TWO gym leaders in one of the hardest Pokémon games ever, Pokémon Emerald Kaizo. I invited cjya, Jaiden Animations, Small Ant, and WEEGEETHEGOD to find out which of these two had the skills to take down both Brawly AND Wattson in one of the hardest Pokémon challenges of all time.

Smant's both totally optimal and yet super creative in how he creates answers and builds his teams. I'd love to see him just play through EK.
If you look back on his twitch vods he played radical red to around 4-5th gym if that interests you (he found it boring after that so I don't think he's finishing it)
@@T3DracoI suspect he'd have the same issue in Kaizo, however these days with infinite rare candies and berries being acceptable, maybe not. Those games are largely about grinding the perfect team over and over for a certain match.

Smant could legitimately beat Emerald Kaizo normally, but no need for anyone to willfully put themselves through that stress
he put himself in a worst position by beating platinum without taking damage and reseting to last gym every time he took damage
@@femboy-alex117 I argue that that challenge was more time consuming than difficult. At some point he just bikes 1million steps to get to lvl 100 and one shot everything.
I'm sure he can beat emerald kaizo hardcore nuzlocked but it would be quite difficult for him I think.
Hearing sweet and family friendly content creator jaiden repeatedly call the game "fucking bullshit" was magnificent

Smant's teambuilding was awesome and all, and he likely still wouldve won with luck like the others, but his run here is legendary not for skill, but for pure unadulterated Main Characterness.

The lesson we learned today was that announcing your moves/strategy like an anime protagonist will make you an anime protagonist. Congrats to SmAnt for winning, the rest for challenging him, and you for making the video
Everyone was getting crit and/or flinch spammed and SmallAnt was like "Oh look, a crit. Also the game just broke" 🤣🤣🤣
As soon as I saw the participants I felt that one of them wasn't like the others. No surprise the man who beat a pokemon game without taking any damage could easily blow through this competition.

I swear, smant is blessed by the rng gods. I mean he's a phenom at video games, in general, but he usually has some crazy luck too
It would be fun to do another for flannery. It would be funny seeing the contestants try and use a water type in that gym.
I brought a Sharpedo to that gym thinking I could spam water moves, and proceeded to spam Strength and Crunch after learning of the horrors that happen in there.
Idk anything about Emerald Kaizo, why don't Water types work on Flannery's gym? And why does Kirlia keep getting its ass beat in Brawley's gym? Do regular type strengths/weaknesses not apply to EK?

Kirlia: physically frail, doesn't quad resist like modern gens, not fast enough
Water types: Permanent sun in the gym, Solar Beam silly hours, and the AI has a random chance to click solar beam no matter what's in front of them unless they saw a kill iirc

that's just how Spinda is in EK lol, the dev buffed some pokemon stats
EK Spinda has Glalie stats, that's not the problem. The problem is Hyper Voice being a 120 power Rock Smash.

Sableye was also absurdly buffed in the Hack, but so much that, since it´s OP, they made it unavailable to the player to obtain.
Although I remember seeing an In-game trade that asked for a Legendary, either Suicune or Articuno I think, for a Sableye xD. How did you obtain one of these? No idea, probably unavailable too.
13:36 Jaiden is always my favorite in these videos. I remember the nuzlock speedrun with her not knowing the map and her reactions are the best.

Small Ant insane luck and his insane Pokémon knowledge makes him one of the best
I do like this rule set especially for people who haven't touched EK before, but I think it would be good to give everyone the exact same pokemon. I suppose there were other intimidate pokemon but it was super weird/lucky how Smallant got a Hitmontop while Cjya got a Hitmonlee.
I didn't even notice until you said this, but looking back in the video it looks like they accidentally gave Cj hitmonlee while everyone else got tyrogue and could choose the evolution.
No, they had a tyrogue and they just had different evos due to stats.

This was just hilarious to watch! I tend to be overwhelmed when I watch such races live but you did a great job explaining and highlighting what exactly happened in this video so this was a lot of fun! :) I hope we will get another race in Emerald Kaizo, I really enjoyed watching this one
I can't expect less from the man, the myth, the legend that managed not only to beat platinum without receiving any damage, but also to beat gen 1 remakes without INFLICTING DAMAGE through damaging moves *and* faster than another person doing the same challenge, even starting before him.

Smant is just cracked. Like... the AI going for thunderwave on low HP gyarados, not once but TWICE??? He has insane luck which, paired with his good team building, great strategy and general knowledge of the game just makes him the clear frontrunner in any competition like this.

SmallAnt is the type of guy who is actually just average at games he doesn’t know but given any tools and information he can optimize and learn all the in’s and outs super quick. Also having the blessing of Lady Luck tends to help too

Next time have them actually play ek. Furthest (as defined by trainer fights) wins. Since it's just a one shot it would be short to record and would not be too painful for the participants (just enough pain). You'd probably want more than 4 for that tho.

16:59 this fight is actually really fun in randomizers, yes, very "fun", not a roadblock since you cant do much against pokemon that is LV 70 at this point of the game and wasnt actually designed to be a joke, "fun" for sure (i mean you can poison or burn it but still, kinda crazy)

Yeah ok, Kirlia is not good, so? That doesn't answer the question, hell psychic pokemon still look like a good option after seeing what Spoink did
Switch in against baited rock/normal moves, bait fighting moves back into Gyarados for a resisted switch in for Intimidate proc, repeat the cycle.

I think putting the permadeath back on while they still have access to the full boxes would bring some fun spice.
In the future it would be fun to do this but with pokemon uranium or other fangames with intense difficulty

Were Kirlia almost any other mid-stage psychic type, it would likely be a pretty good choice for the gym. Problem is that Kirlia has stats worse than Unown.
