I like how the photo in the last scene shows how they really look like and not like how the daughter sees them in her day to day life. In my opinion, the aunts are my favourites out of them all

Did love the aunties, but it’s the grannie I can relate to. The whole family was separate, in their own parts of the house; however, it was when the music loving granny grabbed Marvin’s hand and danced, the whole family fell together-even the Mama who didn’t want to feel old. Many of us survive our ever-so-odd families, and those of us who do, are better for it. Can’t wait to meet Marvin’s family.

@@undeadbandit835 Look closer. The Mother looks a bit more older. While the aunts look the same, they seem to be taller, the cousins don't look like chickens but women with a high noses. The god father is bald unlike the one where he was introduced because he had side hairs. And then the grandmother who had this big smile, a disturbing dace shape, and tiny size but in the photo, she looks taller along with a normal looking face and a normal looking smile.
One thing I really like is how every character is a “representation” of how the daughter sees them:
*The aunts are the most normal-looking of them all because she sees them as just some charismatic gossipers
*The cousins are just like chickens becuase she seems them as dumb as a bird
*The god-father is a tiny man who makes himself look very grand because he thinks he’s actually very important when in reality he’s but a tiny parasite
*The mother is a self-centered snake who looks old but isn’t willing to admit it
*The grandma is a very nice and tiny person, she has a very big heart but is also a shadow because she is the one that runs the family from the inside

I guess that's why the picture looked a bit different and more realistic like-

To balance this out they would have to be bland and flat as paper or it would just be a regular meeting.

@@mirahckielmaxino6883 that meant she was 3 months into the pregnancy(apparently a common point to announce it since by then it's generally far enough along that surprise complications are few)
@@mirahckielmaxino6883 as other person said, it is common to announce your pregnancy at about the 3 or 4 month so that you don´t get your family on party mode just to end up getting an early miscarriage or realizing the baby will be headless or any weird stuff

I think they're intended as a "gossipy hens" pun.
I love the fact when her boyfriend says everyone loves her, and she says "except my mum" he doesn't reason away her feelings. He's like "except your mum" and gives her a hug. Affirmation is so nice

They members of the family seem to be based of off animals
1) The aunts are either birds or dogs (I'm basing this of the decor of their room).
You could argue pigs too but- I think they act more like plump songbirds than anything.
2) The cousins are Chickens (or another species of bird)
3)The godfather is a fox
4) The mother is a snake
5) The grandmother is a frog
I would say the godfather is a chameleon

I like how each of their family members have animalistic traits and actions that describe their personalities. :) Especially the cousins, just one scene of them and we know exactly what they are like, without having ever heard them speak.

I love this. It has a similar energy to Meet The Robinsons without quite so much absurdity
I legit was thinking of "Meet The Robinsons" also, except this time we actually understand each memebers motivations a bit more.
I love how at the end of the video there's little Easter eggs about what the family dynamic is like in the photographs (5:50). For example:
- the two aunties who fell in love with two guys who were in love with each other (they're holding hands)
- the grandmother and her pirate love (presumably Grandpa)
- the grandma riding what looks to be a dinosaur
- the godfather as a baby (so he's probably the mom and aunties' brother)
- a drawing of the grandmother and Sarah from when she was a child
- one of the aunties on a swing (based on a famous painting)
- some people standing around a campfire
- the mom in her younger days
- Sarah standing next to somebody with really thick eyebrows in a photograph (not sure who that is)
- part of a black and white photo that we can't see
- and then a LOT of pictures of Piggy (including how he was presumably formed by a cat and a bird)
Then another couple of Easter eggs is when we meet the mother towards the end of the video. We can also see in the pictures surrounding her that she is very comfortable in her own skin. There's even a nude portrait of her in her studio.
I think the pirate is from a short called " an eye for a eye" is from the same animation estudio esma, is a really cool reference.

Honestly o do agree that the husband's cheating on their wives with each other is a interesting idea but since I don't really like it when things go dark (like cheating) so ima try to tell myself that they were just holding hands and not cheating on their wives :.)

This animation style reminds me of Coraline. Another great RUclips video on this subject is Moon Girl on Planet Classroom Network. Centered around a lone roach and the moon, this tale puts a twist on love.

I just now noticed that she looks the most like her grandmother and that seems to be the one she gets along the best with. Neat little detail that really says a lot.

@@lucuma764 I love that! but i was more of so thinking the last frame is the Father because it's seen knocked off, signaling the father "being droved away" by the daughter like the mother said later on
I love how the ending family picture gives us the view that they are all just normal people, and the fantasy stuff like flying, mother's long neck, godfather's giant eyes are just some exaggerations that somewhat portray the guy's first impression of her family.

I find it interesting that they have been together for 5 years and are expecting and neither has met the other's family until now.
A follow up with her meeting his family would be interesting.
Once both families know about the baby, they won't be able to exclude them from their lives.

I absolutely LOVE the salt behind the reveal at the end. Also I love all of them except mum. Grandma and the two aunts are definitely my favorite.

The Aunties and Meemaw are the most nice in the entire family without Sarah. The Aunties are just polite gossipers and Meemaw is just a very happy small lady
The Mother is a centered snake and always has the light on her no matter what
The Godfather is in the shadows and wanting to be grand with the fox staff and facial hair showing how sly and tricky he is as Sarah says he is living off her mother
The cousins are obvious chickens and are seen as dumb
Nothing is known of the father except that he is away from the family

3:04 I love how both can take it just as good as they can dish it out. I also love the godfathers embarrasment when he is called out on his hypocracy. If I ever had kids I probably would grill the potential suitor a bit as well, make sure they will respect my kid. I also love how Marvin isn't offended by any of the family members but really putting in an effort to make a genuine connection with every one. the depiction of how she sees her mother as a viper is spot on.

The very beginning, you see picture frames, right? That's actually a foreshadowing. Each of those frames are the members of the family. Meanwhile, the broken frame that's been fallen, is the Dad... who was told to be the runaway father.

I don’t understand a single word and I don’t have to because the animation tells the story perfectly, the characters are hilariously stylized and the comedy never lingers too long. There are studios out there who could kill for work like this and sadly won’t but, this is talent and deserves recognitionz

I love this! I just have two issues. One, why didn’t Marvin stand up for Sarah when her mom said that she made her father runaway? And two, why was he like: “But she is crazy about me.” when Sarah says that her mother doesn’t love her? Like what? STAND UP FOR YOUR LOVERS AGAINST CRAPPY PARENTS!
Probably because she warned him beforehand that her mother would absolutely 100% take it out on HER and make her life harder on purpose if he stood up to her. The validation that he’s aware her mother doesn’t love her (and the joke to lighten the mood) is his way of quietly standing up to the bitch queen without alienating the rest of the family who actually loves her.
