Nominal prices don't matter. What matters is the ratio prices/income, which is defined to be real prices. In my case I haven't gotten a raise since 2020, so I'm being destroyed by rising real prices. But, say you are in a labor union and you secured a 30% wage increase, or say you are a capitalist and you secured a 30% profit increase, but say (for example) nominal prices have only increased by 20%. Then real prices (for you, in this hypothetical example) have declined: 1.20(p_0)/1.30(i_0) = 0.92*(p_0/i_0) < (p_0/i_0), where p_0 is the original nominal price level (before the inflation), and i_0 is your original income. Equivalently, your real income (the ratio income/prices) has risen.
Inflation is a side effect of distributional struggle. Likely there is the same or more real stuff available to be consumed, but in a market capitalist system people struggle over the distribution of economic output with ad hoc price increases: the capitalist attempts to raise his prices/profits relative to other capitalists' prices (if he can); the worker (if he can) attempts to secure higher wages (relative to the capitalists' profits and other workers wages). At the end of it some people will have higher real income; others will have lower real income; others will be about the same. People who are likely to be successful will be (for example) capitalists with high pricing power (e.g. due to monopoly) or maybe in-demand workers who are in a good labor union.

You have no idea - check out Defender ATP, Sentinel and Intune. The amount of visibility with those plugins installed is kind of extraordinary. I've only seen glimpses of Sentinel but it can essentially see what every application on the machine is doing. You have to understand - they mean security from an enterprise standpoint, which is synonymous with visibility. Think of it from an IT admin standpoint, they want to be able to detect when malware is installed on the machine and also use AI tools to detect anomalous behavior. Just think about what Microsoft Defender (bundled into the OS) is doing. It's constantly scanning your PC for malware by going through the entire system and all its files and checking it against a database. Whether it calls home is just a matter of the subscription bundle you're using and whether you're an enterprise customer requesting those features. It's all baked into the OS at this point. What do you think vulnerability scanning is? I can see if you have a vuln11 1

0:37 love to see that, besides 10/11, *Windows 7* is still the most used Microsoft Operating system. It's just a level MS did not reach anymore and wouldn't it be for forced updates, planned obsolescence and artificial incompatibility, the 7-share would be even greater. Heck, win 10 and 11 are just win 3.10 in the background with more stuff and you can let a Win7 act like it's win 10/11 and all the new stuff (including "security") just works - there are whole repositories dedicated to that, to keep the usability while dropping the MS BS. If you're already on 10/11 you can cut the MS BS using "Ameliorated" - its a glorified batch script (called "play book"), that transparently cuts out all the bad stuff - and it's a LOT. Increases performance, security and privacy a lot.
If you have to mod your Windows so much until it becomes pleasantly usable, it's pretty much a Linux with more problems. Oh the irony.

windows 10 was a jump forward from the 8 and 8.1 crap they released a few years back and it kept getting better with each major update. The last version of 10 really feels like a completely new OS compared to the initial releases. Windows 11 was unnecessary and just to artificially boost the PC market while not only having nothing new except a half-baked unoriginal UI overhaul, it even lacked and still lacks some of the features that were part of Windows for as long as everyone remembers. like that shitty taskbar and start menu that you can't even change its position even more! just why? why did they have to rewrite the taskbar? The only two new features that some people gave a crap about were the Android subsystems and the upgraded window management capabilities. the former is deprecated a while back and the latter is simply not enough. So the latest ad shenanigans are just the last nail in the coffin of an unnecessary crappy version of Windows. The last version of Windows that was this bad was the ME. Vista was a bit ahead of its time and was incompatible with existing hardware but it really brought new interesting features to the table. the 8 wasn't as buggy and unchanged as the 11. it was just focused in the wrong direction. 11 is just useless really and could just be an annual update to Windows 10.

Not the mention the terrible taskbar, ads, telemetry, ai nonsense and it being forced down your throat. Also the constant bugged updates and other issues that aren't that much of an issue on W10. I will never install W11, I'd rather just go Linux even if it means I can't run certain games.

tbh same. I upgraded to Windows 11, but over time I saw it was just laggier, uglier, and somehow experienced some corruption that made Windows 11 think Windows was located on my other drive and left me with no access to my computer. So instead I decided to no longer use Windows 11 and go back to Windows 10. No regrets. I'm hoping Windows 12 can just be Windows 10 but actually trying to just make it a better version of Windows 10.
Switching to Linux has the one issue that, I'm not just an open firefox and check facbook user, I actually have to put up with linux's complexity, and use the CLI frequently. And I think a lot of users are in the untapped target where they just want an OS that works like Windows, no need to do a lot of, frankly, bullshit. Like needing to find extremely specific, niche packages that you can't just sudo apt install, just to get a game that should natively work on linux, to work on linux.

Linux is a bit more efficient I found. One bad experience I had was trying to migrate Win11 boot SSD to a larger SSD....clonezilla worked somewhat, I could use Win11... but when it was time to update, nope....no more updates, Win11 detects a change and disables updates.

MS wants so badly to have Windows as a subscription. I have run MS DOS on my first systems. The first and only retail computer I bought had Window 95 and DOS 6.0, then I went to Windows 98. then Windows XP. Then I skipped a few for Windows 7... then jumped to 10 when they had a free upgrade. I have not formatted my hard drive since Windows XP. I did upgrades to 7 and 10 and not full installations. I was using the same 1TB WD hard drive for all these years until last week when I finally got a 2TB Gen 4 NVME and cloned my drive over. Yes I am still running the same installation. I have replaced the motherboard, CPU, memory, and graphics card 2-3 times. The system is still very stable and I run it hard for months at a time without even turning it off or rebooting.
I don't want to deal with Windows 11. What happened to that we will never release another Windows and just keep upgrading the current one? Wasn't that 10 or was it earlier? I have yet to see an huge improvement over Windows XP. I'm not touching 11 if I can help it.
