Alan fitting two pumps to the "magic box" makes it more economical to operate. Central heating water spends less time in the radiator, so heat is not wasted heating the room. Also supplied with free ear defender's for each installation. 😀😁😂
The Magic Heating Box is a square pressure vessel made of high grade steel and 28mm insulation. The box has a 17 litre water capacity. It acts as a natural heat exchanger by mixing hot flows to from the boiler with cooler radiator returns.
Yes but you missed one vital point its needs pump after the box.the pump in the boiler is nullified by the (magic box) low loss header neutralise or whatever you want to call it!!
@@davidlax9454 The whole install is a joke! The box I looked on line and found its part of a confidence trick!! It's that simple!! It's not a GENUINE attempt at an installation.
Thanks for that. That was an absolute butchering of an installation. You can see the boiler breathed a sigh of relief when you'd freed it from that mess!
We use a similar idea in data centers for cooling, where the heat pumps are connected to a big tank right next to them, and primarily cool that tank. The row chillers then pump out of that tank and back. The idea is to create more mass so that the big heat pumps can run for a couple of minutes instead of switching on and off every 30 seconds, and the tank basically keeps the flow and return from mixing by just being tall, creating a temperature gradient. It works quite well, especially when starting out a new site, and you might be using 3 percent of installed capacity because the heat pumps are sized for 100 percent, and need to cope with cooling the generators as well if they kick on. But these are 2 meter tall tanks, with a temperature gradient of maybe 10-20 C, not quite sure it’ll work in that 30 cm high box.
@@AllenHart999 most people don’t want a boiler on show let alone all that lot, surprised the new Worcester still has the plastic manifold and same flow turbine set up

I'm not surprised they are happy, they can put a set of curtains up or blind without burning there hands, and they can go through the door without catching there head on that monstrosity. And they also have heating. Amazing.
Magic Box was an idea to run radiators at a lower temperature (>60 degrees) by increasing the flow rate of the main heating system with a large pump (hence the light commercial Magna pump) , so minimising the delta T across each radiator, the idea was also to keep the boiler in condensing mode for longer to save energy. But in todays World of variable temperature radiators that you can easily achieve with an Open Therm, controller or with weather compensation, the Magic Box is pretty much obsolete. The box is nothing more than just a small buffer tank. We used to use something similar to decouple a high flow heat pump from a slow flow rate domestic radiator system using a 50 litre box (heat pumps need s delta T of around 5 degrees). The thing probably uses more electricity in pump losses than it saves in gas bills. Shockingly bad install as well!!
Innit all that extra wiring. Pump straight into the nest. Pointless. Seeing as it's a 40kw combi in an average size property. Materials must of cost a 💣
I have never come across a Magic Box. But I would say you are most likely correct, with regards to it being a low loss header. It can't be an heat exchanger. There's no reason to separate the primary circuit. + you would need a fill loop, Gauge, and expansion vessel on the secondary side. Other thought was a humongous dirt separator. But its appears to be sealed unit, and there's a Omega fitted🤔
So Allan I googled magic box for gas heating and found XPRT magic box international. So it looks like it's just a coil heat exchanger that the blurb says iliminates friction in the radiator system It also says that the flow to it is set at 60 degrees so that the return will come back at 57 .5 degrees which is supposed to keep the boiler in condensate mode and so make the boiler more efficient .900 yes 900 quid well spent ,ha ha.I did find a second hand one for 475£ . Would have thought that would have made the maximum rad temp 60 degrees but they do also say it makes the whole radiator temperature more even ,not sure whether you get the two pumps as well for your 900 £ though Cheers.

2 pumps on, it'll just burn through pumps every few years, rip off for what it is, I saw a quote once for a automatic oxygen ventilator or something along them lines an AAV basically 😆 and the price was 175quid per one
Its a glorified low loss header that people pay over the odds for and totally not needed. Just like a 4 pipe buffer and to waste a grundfos magna on that system is unreal.
In large commercial premises this is a compliment to the design engineer helping reduce maintenance costs given that the air is automatically removed from the system, therefore maintaining optimum pressure. Makes dispensing inhibitor easy, pretty much like a header tank. Hope this helps ❤
I repeat, forget what it might appear to be, I'm sure it's an empty box designed to enhance the bank account of some 'criminal' minded 'entrepreneur '. I'm wrong, I'm wrong! To quote Michael Miles? open the box! (1960/70) take your pick game show, if memory serves.

Do you rate them?
@@AllenHart999 yes 😁
@@mihaiachim5299 Good to hear. Thanks.
So many pumps!!
Has to be a DIY job as not many Engineers would fit a shitty worcesester
Unfortunately not
I just have my ideal logic Combi 30 boiler pump repaired by M.J.Harris staff, which I spent over £700 and must pay special extra £42 to staff first time 😢
Rip the lot out and start again Jesus Christ rough as shit that… is that tech tight on the pipework that’s a diy job that deffo 😱
Definitely not DIY unfortunately.
Radiator valve on blow off and two extra pumps cmon mate some idiots done that surely I’m not saying the diy but that box and all the pipe work there’s hardly any solder joints everything pushfit and compression
🤣🤣Worcester yeh right hand block probs leak and left hahah brilliant
I can’t believe how bad that install was, extra pumps, magic box (big, expensive AAV😂). I wonder if they RTFM?😂
These Worcester Systems are now magic lol.
Magic box? Is it basically a heat recovery unit? Never seen one. Interesting video. I was asking myself at the start of the video why on earth is there 2 pumps on that setup lol no real Alan.
Magic Box lol. Thanks.
A radiator valve under the boiler... AY CARAMBA!!
Shocking.
Great video. 👍🏻
Thank You
More pumps and pipes needed.
I agree
what a mess they made of that!! 1,000 tines better now.
Just shows the appalling standards and ignorance within our industry.
A lot of comments support this sad state of affairs!
Which comments? Thanks
What the **** kind of job was that and who paid for it? Was it a self install perchance?
I cannot get my head around some of the absolute shit you find, and you seem like a nice guy 😁👌
Terrible installation. Thanks.
Your name is Allen Hart :)
there are no words 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
Shocking lol.
great vidio
Thank You
Magic video 👍
Thank You
Great Post x
Thank You
Stevie Wonder back on the tools again aye 😉 🥴
Only use of that is probably UFH really used as a buffer tank maybe to stop short cycling the boiler god knows what this guy was doing
We will cut it up and see what’s inside. Thanks.
Thanks…
2 pumps on, it'll just burn through pumps every few years, rip off for what it is, I saw a quote once for a automatic oxygen ventilator or something along them lines an AAV basically 😆 and the price was 175quid per one
Its a glorified low loss header that people pay over the odds for and totally not needed. Just like a 4 pipe buffer and to waste a grundfos magna on that system is unreal.
What a criminal installation.
Not needed in this property in my opinion. Thanks for the comment.

ALLEN HART!
Hi Mark. Thanks.
I'm guessing the "magic box" is a plate to plate heat exchanger, to save having to treat a old dirty heating system
I will cut it up and we can see what’s inside.
@@AllenHart999 it's a magic roundabout con, nothing inside!!
it cant be if he has cut the secondary pump out the system wouldnt work at all, it is a mess off a install though.
I presume they fitted the magic box(buffer tank) for the high output of the house, but that really is a shite looking job
did i mention how shite it looked wasnt sure
I can't believe the comments!
Not surprising people get so easily conned!
Magic Box being kind of Low Loss Header, there is no need install mean of LLH.
Due to thesize of the boiler the engineer probably thought he was doing them a favor so the boiler didn't not cook its self asit was way over sized but was not clever enough to range rate the heating
I am looking forward to cutting it up.
Magic box? 💩 in a 📦 more like!
Thank you for the comment.
