The quality of your pipe fitting is appropriate for this lovely boiler and shows the pride you take in your job. Many heating engineers don't make this effort when the pipes are on show in a kitchen so I can only imagine what a state they would leave an airing cupboard in!
Keep up the good work and I hope this helps to show that people do really notice a quality job.

I'm a brand new subscriber from Bath, Maine, USA. I'm not a plumber but an old retired carpenter who takes a lot of pride in my work. I'd be pleased to have you work on my jobs.
I am amazed at the differences the way the boiler set-up is done between here and there. I'm actually looking at installing a Bosch Greenstar in my own house.

I'm going with late 80's for what you ripped out, as that was the later incarnation of the WM/BF looking at the case and gasvalve . I do recall them being heavy when struggling to hang on the wall over a kitchen worktop.......
The Hotrod or salamander microversion was used when a customer on a budget couldn't run to a new lagged indirect cylinder, I used to put a 22mm gate valve on the return and throttle it back, this gave a much better heat output to DHW.
The silver tube and compression fittings was used during a copper pipe shortage! There was a small estate of bungalows near us built at this time done with this stuff, in later years we had to do lots leaks there. This was due to the pipe rotting off as it went into the brass comp fitting, electrolysis IIRC.
Tidy job, nice to see a young plumber with a bit of pride in his work which sadly seems a rare occurrence in my area.

Just had our old 1996 installed Potterton heat only boiler replaced with a WB 8000 system boiler and pressurised system. Say what you want about how efficient these condensing boilers are but have to say the WB 8000 heat output is poor in comparison to our old Potterton.
Didnt have the Potterton serviced at all in the first 10 years and was never set at more than 4 in winter. Maximum setting was 6 on the dial. Had very hot water and you couldnt touch the rads when they were on. Despite the WB being set at 68 degrees, the 'hot' water is just warm and the rads, you can hold your hands on them for 30 seconds before it becomes uncomfortable.
Cost 3 grand installed by a WB approved installer. They did a good job but frankly, I wish id left the Potterton in until it gave up the ghost. Think I'll be lucky to get 25 years out of the WB and that's having it serviced every year as well.

I would be gobsmacked to find an old open vent system not dumping more debris than you showed. Possibly poor chemical ? Or relying on boiler pump and magnacleanse ? do you not think debris could be damaging suvh an expensive boiler ? A power flush or radiator removal would give you confirmation.
