  • Eventually, when you have been hiking the PCT for as many years as I have and spending so much money on so many types of gear, you finally realize that your best gear will be the gear you modify or make yourself. I’m still a novice, but learning more each day and trying to think outside the box.

Took this backpack on the John Muir Trail for 2 weeks and it worked like a charm!

Tons of PCT hikers passing through now. (I'm in Cabazon). Loving the elastic ideas, hum, now I'm thinking of ways to incorporate it on my daypack! Thanks.

Definitely experiment with your packs, esp. with the no sew method in case you want to switch it out. It is very frustrating not to be on trail, but will be much happier not plodding through the snow and sleeping in the cold. 🥶
