Thank you for this video. The timing is perfect. I picked up my Y yesterday and noticed it is slightly louder than my 3 because of the exposed cargo area. I’m hoping this addition will reduce the noise from the back wheels and suspension. I agree - Tesla should offer this with the Y, but they do what they do and we keep buying.

Can you just unhook the loops from the hatch door (instead of untying the knot on the shelf) to remove the shelf? :o
There's multiple ways to do it but yes I've set it up now so that it is easy on easy off

Can you still recline the seats?? =)
It ONLY works with the seats in the reclined position.
Does it work on 7 seat Y?
No
I recently purchased a retractable cargo cover for the model Y from RPM Tesla for less than this. It works great, easy to install and I feel way better product than what you are showing here
Never seen a car without a cargo cover before here in Europe and when I commented about this product being a good idea in a MY group I got called an idiot by current MY owners. One guy said this wouldn’t stop a single item in case of a crash and that he hoped a gallon of milk would hit me in the head to maybe get my brain functioning. 😆
Are these covers controversial in the states or what’s going on?
Hopefully we’ll have cargo covers as standard on our Berlin built MY.
I am the maker of the ModelYShelf. Parcel Shelves or cargo covers like this are not controversial here in the States, and they are pretty much an accepted standard. A few manufactures (like GM with the Volt and Bolt, and Tesla with the Model Y) have gone different route, and many folks see this as lacking. Not everyone, but for those that want a traditional parcel shelf, this is an option. If you don't get one in your Berlin built Y, I'll be happy to send one over to you. I've shipped many of my VoltShelves to locations all over the world, including Germany. HTH!

Looks very cheap made. There’s one on eBay and RPM Tesla that’s a lot better.
