So in there I've a 5.1.2 ATMOS setup with a 49in LG 4K HDR Dolby Vision TV. So I take ideas from these types of videos and adapt them best I can for my room.. Youthman and his videos have been helpful as he has to you. I've gone Klipsch with most of my speakers eventually will go all Klipsch. Don't dismiss buying used gear either such as speakers.. Especially if they've barely been used and look for Open Box stuff too.. Or buy the previous year's stock or stock a few yrs old. When it comes to most tech all they do is change the design on the outside and call it a new product.

Matt's soundstage caught my eye on a FB page and since then we have becoming really great friends - so I'm also partial to his theater - its very very nice!
I REALLY love his set up , thanks to YOUTHMAN for linking us to your channel . Congratulations Matt for your wonderful Home theater , we are not than far away ( Florida ).

@@AwesomeSauceShow It was a BIG plus when we looked at purchasing the house. The previous owners spent good money in building out the room and running speaker wires. This laid a great foundation for me to work upon!
Very nice room. Would love to know the price. And what about upgrading to a 4k projector? I would think that would be #1 on his list of upgrades. I have a very small home theater. 11x12. 7.2. klipsitch all around. And it rocks so hard. Would love to do a tour video. Waiting for some custom signs to come in still to finish it off. But still would love to show it off and see what you think.
I've not actually compiled a price for upgrades at the time we shot this theater tour. I'm a bit afraid to figure it all out :) I'm working towards a 4K projector, but pricing is still really high. I'm working on other upgrades and hope to upgrade my projector in the next few years. This Sony is still incredible at what is does
Awesome set up. Love seeing the evolution of folks set up change , great inspiration. These videos have me thinking of what I can do to upgrade my set up.
Awesome video and what a great room Matt. He is really a great dude in talking with him he is willing to help me with MiniDSP when the time comes. Awesome!
Looks great for the front....a fan from Taiwan, except the sofa, hahaha. Some can be adjusted, atoms spkrs, new projector, dark color floor, new theater chairs...., But I just love it, thanks for the video.
It sounds like you have the same ideas that I have to upgrade the theater! I have big plans for 2021! Stay tuned to the channel! Thanks for the the support!
In-walls get a poor reputation quite often. I'm not sure if in-walls used to be poor quality or what caused it, really. I've been nothing but happy with my in-walls and encourage others to try them out. I love the clean look that they provide and this helps with my setup since my floor space is limited due to the wall size vs. screen size vs. sub location
Matt Ording those klipsch in wall speakers you have has back box make them sound good, in wall speakers without back box are poor sound quality it’s what I did read
Just came across your channel. I liked your video of Matt's HT room...how you synced the video movement to the audio. Very professionally done. And the format you are using to talk about Matt's current setup and his possible future plans. Well thought out. Well done mate!! Sub'd.
Matt Ording It makes a huge difference! The sound is more airy, the treble and mid bass are far more detailed as well. Receivers just can’t do what dedicated amps are designed to do, and that’s providing dedicated clean power. It’s like comparing 720p to 4K.
@@VividTheater Oh nice analogy - keeping is simple so that I can understand is a good thing. My Sony AVR does not have pre outs currently, but I will keep this in mind when I look to upgrade
Great video Tony. Matt has a great setup i can only wish one day i could have a dedicated home theatre. Keep up the good work. I would very much be interested in getting in on your discord information. yourself and Sarkis from Hstudio are my favorite Home theatre channels.
Thanks Herb :) this was the first of its kind with remote home theater tours where I convinced Matt to film his room for me. The Discord link should be in the description below.
I’m happy that so many have enjoyed the color of the room. My wife and I wanted something that wasn’t just grey or black like many of the home theaters that you see pictures of. The dark blue does great to keep down reflections, but still keeps the room from being too dark and “dead”
Awesome theater, Awesome editing! Seeing more theater tours always help me get ideas for my own theater. Currently working on getting a alr screen since I can't do a dedicated room. If you want to contact me I am also a part of the youthman Facebook forum and I am always glad to help out.
Yes I have I am getting the Klipsch 6000f and it’s gonna be all Klipsch in the room. But very confused about my upgrading options. At the moment I have 5.1.2 but wanted to go for a 7.2.4 in future. So not sure about the receiver.
Check to see if you can process more channels already and consider getting an external amp. It will save you money and give you some performance gains too.
I looked at options. I decided to go with the 16:9 as it matches more of the content I play and watch. My projector also does not have a lens memory and I do not want to go up and adjust it when the aspect ratio changes
Seems like the on axis performance of the L and R speakers are compromised because they arent tilted to the listening area, this would require building out the wall so its angled on the ends. So I am curious how those L and R speakers sound off axis, because I think the current placement is a huge compromise. EIther way, I wish I had those speakers, but I think he isnt taking full advantage of them in their current placement.
Howdy! I elected to go with a wide soundstage for the front. Ideally, I would have built an angled wall for the L and R to toe them in as you described. The only time I hear any disparity with on and off-axis response is when I listen pink noise and walk around the room. For watching movies and TV, I cannot hear any issues at all with the off-axis response.
A nice setup like this and the heart is a Sony .PO.S that looks like a reject from a home theater in a box rig. Three HDMI inputs, not that you need more, just an indicator. Need a Corvette engine for this Corvette layout, is all.
Billy Grinstead if you’ve been doing this hobby for any length of time, you can appreciate that it’s a journey and always changing and upgrading. Matt is planning Atmos in the future but the avr he has now works great in his setup! Stay tuned as I’ll be doing updated tours of Matt’s room as he upgrades :)
@@BuildMontage Well, audio is my first love but HT is fun too, and its been a long time since I've seen any kind of Sony equipment in an install, especially a nice setup like this, and a lower end Sony at that. Been at this a long time, and like everything else, the only thing more important than any setup is the engine that drives it. You don't see many racecars with lawnmower engines is all I'm saying. You want to save the most important part of a system for last. Fine, but you're doing it backwards. So you can impress with a cool paint job? Big hat no cattle, as the Texans say.
This Sony has been a champ and has met my needs for many years. As Tony said, it’s on my list of upgrades. I’m waiting to see if I’m going to upgrade to atmos so that I can spec a Denon or Marantz to me needs
Well hello there! It was a lot of hours working on the tweaks, but turned out great! Colors wife and I picked out are : Main theater wall color - Behr Shipyard Theater ceiling - Behr English Channel Rest of basement (the light blue) - Behr Shadow Blue Happy to send you pictures of the samples if that is easier. If so, hop in the Discord and I can share :)
Hi fantastic home cinema ,with that room space and just being able to have a dedicated cinema ,in ceiling speakers would be high on my list ,also upgrade his amp /receiver ,I’m not sure about the in wall speakers as once they are fitted that’s it ,no possible way of toeing them in or any small adjustments ,free standing have so many many benefits for placement ,but other than that chips owners have done a great job (woof woof) 👍
My home Theater thanks Chris! Love watching your room come along as well :) this was a fun vid to do a nice change from filming my own room! Looking forward to more of your videos too!
Now this is just a beautiful story, shows that reaching out to others can truly be helpful and make for interesting friendships. Looks like I need to get on youthmans group on FB.
Absolutely! I didn’t even tell Matt I had a RUclips channel, but he worked it out once he saw some of my posts. And Michael (Youthman) is a great guy as well! Thanks for commenting!
Like Tony said in the video, it was awesome how we met on a simple post and just hit it off and started to talk. Life is crazy and it's all about experiences and relationships you build. It's neat to see where it can lead you at times
Nice vid. Trying to create a home theatre and wonder if a McIntosh amp, 2 Chanel would be good. Concerned that sound signal flowing thru rca cables vs HDMI. Does this limit sound quality potential?
Build Montage agreed! Hop on discord and introduce yourself. We have a hoppin’ community with awesome people. We all love to share and help out the home theater community
Hey Tony, i’ve found your channel as I plan to make a little home cinema room when i move. I’m moving in 3 months time so after the jnitial move and all the other housey bits to do i’m going to get straight onto making a home cinema. Unfortunately being in England and only having little houses and space it wont be as big as most peoples but i’m planning on documenting it anyway so will let u know how i get on in 6+ months or so. Problem is though, I have NO idea about electrics and sounds so that should be fun 😬

Fantastic Matt..... Love the change upgrades..... I too am in the works for a HT.....just picked up the Denon AVC-X8500H 13.2 For a 9.2.4 Setup 😊 All the Best..... Good video Anthony 👍📹 Ned 😁
Matt Ording hi Matt!! Cool theater man. I’ve always wanted Klipsch THX line speakers...and a dedicated theater room. Looks nice and I bet it sounds great!
Hey mate. Need a massive favour. I was buying a Marantz 5014 which has only 7 channels but I decided to be able to run 11 channels instead to I am thinking of getting denon 3600 which is 9 ch but you can get 11 Chanel with additional 2 Chanel amp. I need some suggestion about cheap option for a 2 Chanel amp. Or should I go with 11 Chanel amp right now. I m on a budge. So your reply will be highly appreciated. Thanks mate.
If the 5014 has the preouts for all the channels you want you could use that and get a 4 channel amp. I wouldn't go to cheap on the amp though. Something like the nad 4 channel. Or my preffered option get a better amp to run the fronts and maybe surrounds the use avr to run the rest. But you will need to verify if you can assign the internal amps. Also running multiple channels from an avr will reduce power output available to each channel. 5014 may put out 120 watts but only 2 channels driven, drive 7 and that figure reduces substantially.
I am in the beginning stages of my home theater home along with finishing the rest of the basement. I would love to show you the room and maybe get some ideas.
Thanks for the kind words - and thanks for watching my buddy Tony's channel! His videos are a labor of love and I hope that others can see his passion for producing high quality videos that are designed to help others learn.
This was awesome. I have been building my own speakers for my home theater. I wish I could have a projector because my speakers make my 65in look small. Lol
Very clean and well done room. I know the cinema sound had to be amazing but I am curious to how the in walls do when playing music. Also, what size is your screen?
Not too much info on in wall speakers. If you want to chat to Matt directly you can join our discord server. Links in the description. I’m sure he will let you know whats what!
@@TorinTPG nice home theater matt. Its kinda funny i thought chik-fil-a was the only place to find a biscuit like that until i moved to paulding county GA a while back and discovered a little known place around where you live called martins. Lol
Hey Tony, great video as always! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see more content like this....it’s a great idea. @Matt Ording, well done mate. You have an awesome room and you should feel proud to have accomplished such a fine setup. Love those in-walls 👍 Btw, I have no idea about discord, but i will jump on the link later and check it out. Sounds good to be able to chat with like minded people! Cheers
Odd Matt didn't put his left and right ch speakers behind the screen as well...also...I'm not sure if it wasn't the camera angle but the front 3 ch speakers looked like he could have dropped them down another foot so the tweeters would be at ear level..
Good eye! Tweeters are PERFECT ear height. I put a lot of thought into it when measuring and cutting. I'm 6 foot 1 and measure my ear height sitting and cut that into the wall for speakers. I chose a wide soundstage of "cramping" behind the screen. If I ever go with 2.35:1 screen, the L and R will be covered perfect :)
Hey man I’m in the process of having my new home theatre delivered. I have a 77 lg gx, denon x6500, 3x kef ci3160 thx, 4 kef ci in walls for surround and 4 kef ci in ceiling speakers.. would love to get your take on the set up
TBH, I don’t either :) That’s one of the upgrades I’m looking forward to. After the color change of the wall, the recliners no longer fit in with the color scheme. Appreciate the watch and helping out Tony’s channel!
Funny thing is I actually like the lounge colour. It grew on me as I was putting the video together. The tan colour and the blue actually go really well together and I will bet those seats are very comfortable too!
With Synology NAS as his Plex server and Plex as a client on the Shield, the Shield needs no transcoding. Therefore can play everything including object based audio such as Atmos etc natively. Not to mention has more power and capability than the smartest smart TV. Why upgrade? Unless he needs more HDD space.. Transcoding only negates the audio and image to a lesser format. What he has done there is perfect to garner the best of formats and cost effective to boot. I think he's done his research rather well. 😊
I’m not sure what you are referring to. His current NAS isn’t powerful enough to run PLEX server on it either the native app or in an instance, so getting a more powerful Synology NAS will help with that. I agree with transcode, I purposely designed my own personal system to have direct play but I don’t believe PLEx can do atmos. The most it can do is 7.1 Truehd which is close to Atmos but not real Atmos. At least this was the case when I was researching a few weeks ago.
@@BuildMontage the Nvidia Shield can do object based audio natively so Plex does atmos natively on the Shield app. As long as the Shield sees the files they will play. No need for excess processing. In other words that NAS is plenty good enough. Which is why so many of us have coosen this path to stream our media. Also gaming is a major plus too off that thing. Trust me the Shield is loved for a reason. The NAS just has to work like a HDD. Plex server app just allows the handshake and the shield plus amp does the heavy lifting. Audio passthrough and such is also possible. I didn't like Plex until I got the Shield.. now atmos, dtsx, demos go off. I was running Synology but I moved over to Qnap mostly because of HDD space and away from home access speed. It's just a basic 251+ and I've never had issues playing or streaming. Hope that helps
@@Gshiznit74 Matt's specific setup is he IS using his Shield to host his PLEX server AND play from it, and his older less powerful Synology is only being used for storage. From what you are saying, the PLEX server build on the Shield, is superior to the PLEX server build on the Synology DSM due to the ability to process ATMOS? Just so I understand what you are saying. My DS1817+ is a higher end model with 8GB RAM 10GBe and SSD Caching and a fast RAID config- yet it sounds like the Shield's a superior server build based on it's ability to process ATMOS over my Synoiogy only processing TRUEHD 7.1? If that's the case I'm buying a Shield! I have some custom written Python scripts running on my Synology for PLEX and LIFX lighting automation, so I'll have to see how that translates and if there is a console/shell access on the Shield! Do you have to use the Shield as your player as well or can I use my Apple TV 4K to playback and still get ATMOS?
@@BuildMontage yes I watched your set up and it's awesome and is a great idea. As I was saying from the first statement. Use the Shield as the client. To do the heavy lifting. The NAS serves the files simply as a HDD for the shield to see the files. The Shield then takes those files and plays them natively with no transcoding or processing needed from the NAS. I feel I'm confusing the situation. Sorry if I am bro..
@@Gshiznit74 no I get it - I was mainly trying to work out if the "server" build needed to be hosted on the Shield as well as using the Shield for playback, but seems not. I'll be doing a bit of tinkering now :)
Dude, awesome video and Matt's home theater is amazing! I also like the idea of the synology as a plex server maybe because it's what I use and it works perfectly (bias much) 😂. Keep up the great channel 👍
I'm pretty sure that my Synology will be my next Plex server. I love their hardware and I've heard the Plex performance is outstanding when purchasing the models designed for Plex
@@TorinTPG I've had my 40tb 918+ synology as my plex server for over a year now and it's worked flawless. I only rip 4k blurays, lossless of course and I'm about half way through my 40tbs 😱. The files are big but there's nothing like a 4k rip with Truehd 7.1 sound.

The intro edit goes so well with the theme of the channel! Very cinematic!
Haha! Yes that’s the idea lol!
Wow, Matt did a great job upgrading his home theater! I wonder how much of a buy decision of his house was the media room ;)
I'm a bit afraid to figure it all out :)
I'm working towards a 4K projector, but pricing is still really high. I'm working on other upgrades and hope to upgrade my projector in the next few years. This Sony is still incredible at what is does
I got the same Sony receiver in my theatre room amazing sounding unit ,love it . 👍
I’ve enjoyed the AVR for many years. It’s been a champ
Awesome set up. Love seeing the evolution of folks set up change , great inspiration. These videos have me thinking of what I can do to upgrade my set up.

Fantastic cinema room I think an upgrade in the amp department would make it even better, well done.

Klipsch thx in walls speakers sounded great I had a feeling
In-walls get a poor reputation quite often. I'm not sure if in-walls used to be poor quality or what caused it, really. I've been nothing but happy with my in-walls and encourage others to try them out. I love the clean look that they provide and this helps with my setup since my floor space is limited due to the wall size vs. screen size vs. sub location
Matt Ording those klipsch in wall speakers you have has back box make them sound good, in wall speakers without back box are poor sound quality it’s what I did read
@@victorpulos823 I've read that as well as some of the sound energy just goes into the walls. I've never measured this to confirm, however
Just came across your channel. I liked your video of Matt's HT room...how you synced the video movement to the audio. Very professionally done. And the format you are using to talk about Matt's current setup and his possible future plans. Well thought out. Well done mate!! Sub'd.
Thanks :) I’ve done two more room tours since, and two more in the works :) thanks for joining!
Those THX speakers sound awesome, and they absolutely sing with a dedicated amplifier.
I've not upgraded to have a dedicated amp for my setup. Do you feel that the cleaner power from a dedicated amp makes a big difference?
Matt Ording It makes a huge difference! The sound is more airy, the treble and mid bass are far more detailed as well. Receivers just can’t do what dedicated amps are designed to do, and that’s providing dedicated clean power. It’s like comparing 720p to 4K.
@@VividTheater Oh nice analogy - keeping is simple so that I can understand is a good thing. My Sony AVR does not have pre outs currently, but I will keep this in mind when I look to upgrade
Matt Ording You made a great choice on those speakers, and we look forward to seeing future updates.

I’m happy that so many have enjoyed the color of the room. My wife and I wanted something that wasn’t just grey or black like many of the home theaters that you see pictures of. The dark blue does great to keep down reflections, but still keeps the room from being too dark and “dead”
Nice clean room! Looks great!

@@prateek0406 happy to help where I can and I'm sure Tony is as well. There are so many choices on your AVR selection
Great room Matt. It’s good to see what others have done with there spaces. I just have to convert feet to meters 😆😆 by the way great video editing 👍👍
Yeah that’s my problem! Being Aussie and most of my audience being American I’ve had to adapt :) Google conversion to the rescue!
Smart adding bass panels..he should have gone cinescope for screen..
That intro was 🔥🔥🔥. Awesome movie room!! 🍿 🎥

Tony really made the room look great! There are some upgrades planned for the room that I hope to show off at some point

Nice home theater tour. Keep up the good work
A nice setup like this and the heart is a Sony .PO.S that looks like a reject from a home theater in a box rig.

Howdy! While I am not an expert on amps, I'm sure the discord community can help you out. Feel free to hop on and ask away!

Odd Matt didn't put his left and right ch speakers behind the screen as well...also...I'm not sure if it wasn't the camera angle but the front 3 ch speakers looked like he could have dropped them down another foot so the tweeters would be at ear level..
It's a nice wide sound stage.

Build Montage many years of use and still feel great! I think they would look better if my carpet wasn’t so bright
