I love it that Charles's got the higher intelligence stat of the two to spot bad ideas, but Bernard's got the higher charisma stat to talk him into going along with them anyway.
Its like, Charles is almost aware like greg.

Ben is absolutely incredible in this series. His progression and fight against his nature is acting brilliance. Rowan's dead eye stare is excellent too.

I love how Ben has a logical reason not to mug someone/something and Rowen manages to convince him with the same series of questions every time.
The hey, what are we is supposed to be the script trigger that sets the muggers as hostile and forces the dialogue to happen.
I think Charles is just a regular guy who is quite intelligent and reasonable, but he is under the spell of Bernard who is actually a sorcerer under the disguise of a dumb mugger

Im fairly certain Charles gained to much sentiance over time and eventually becomes the "bugged npc"

Bens facial expressions are everything in these videos. His ability to rotate through his emotions visually is amazing.
The muggers are some of my favorite characters in these skits. Ben and Rowan do such a good job of being cartoonishly silly especially with the way they hit their jaws out haha.
Alan practicing his, "Hello adventure," is the cutest thing ever. I love seeing all these together.

Hamish is a treat, every skit he's in he brings the perfect mix of energy and craziness.
As ridiculous as the notion of muggers trying to mug a dragon is, funnily enough something similar happened to me in Skyrim:
When I was rampaging as a werewolf, a thief ran up and demanded I hand over all my valuables while I was still in werewolf form. I tried to intimidate them but they scoffed, so naturally I mauled them.
I love that when ben and rowan are mugging each other its 83 gold and when alan steps in and splits it between them he gives them 41 each which is 82.
So essentially greg the garlic farmer mugs the muggers for 1 gold.
Thats just the payment for helping the muggers out

I would love to see a Mugger origin story. It would be super interesting to see how Charles met Bernard and if Charles ever had autonomy, or if Bernard has always had that subconscious control over Charles. I feel that would be a fun skit!

Well Charles did say his grandma taught him to mug so that's his origin story, not much about Bernard though... I guess Charles just transitioned to be a duo with Bernard after learning from his gammy.
Charles claims to have witness the watcher slay monsters and armies, they should add that in a watcher skit.

The muggers pretending to be a quest giver is quite genius for a script.
Can you imagine these two clowns in a video game and doing this? I would die.
I think the reason I've been watching VLDL for 6+ years is because they really nail the characters they play regardless of what situation they seem to be in.
Consistency is key. They have been great back since they started doing StarCraft music videos 😊

The Muggers are the best NPCs. They are the real heroes. No matter how often they are slain by heroes, dragons, guardians, soldiers, they just keep mugging.

My favorite thing is that Charles was perfectly willing to leave the mugging life behind when he thought Bernard wanted to turn over a new leaf.

It is my head canon that the reason that Charles got so good at baking Carrot Cake is that he bakes them to smuggle lockpicks into the guardhouse holding cell's and he learned it from his Grand Mother (Grand Mugger)😁

The meta commentary on the barrel episode is the most OP comedy I’ve ever seen, I absolutely love the self awareness.

I love the idea that one of them forces the other to mug when they otherwise don't want to.
That is how smart the developers are. They wrote them so lifelike that the muggers dont even know they aren't real but they wrote restraints into the code so that if they don't follow the mug routine either one of them reigns the other into their default settings. ;)

Poor Ben. He's always right there on the verge of self-awareness, ready to look at situations logically...But no matter how hard he tries, the scripting keeps a tight grip on him. The closing of an if/then statement loop must be such exquisite torture...
The chicken skit is just pure gold. "Honeywood deserves a better class of criminal than you lot!"
The loops that all of the NPCs go through are always spot on and hilarious. The Muggers are some of my favorite characters!

This is my favorite recurring theme in this show. I still think you should have a second episode with the goose from "untitled goose game" just stalking them and repeatedly mugging them.
I love the episode at 5:59, where Ben becomes self aware, but still cant break out of his routine lol

Ben's struggle is absolutely glorious, the man is brilliant at it.
I almost thought they were going to use Charles' resistance to mugging stupid things and The Loop to show him breaking free and becoming the glitch character that's broken free of the game's control.
Also the acting and build up on "The Loop" is something i think about. The timing and face reactions are really good!
The conclusion that I drew from this supercut is that sometimes Charles comes up with good ideas 😂

I saw the 30 minute mark and muggers and immediately thought I needed to prepare for another loop
A few years and multiple episodes later, the epic mugging saga finally comes to a close.
I clicked on this thinking it was a new mugging video. Then I saw it was a compilation and was initially disappointed. Then before I knew it they had mugged me of 30 minutes of my time. The cart and the chicken are my favorites. Thanks for making all of these videos.
