  • Cambodia is a recently refurbished, formerly unsanctioned, expert level MTB trail in the Mount Seymour region of North Vancouver, BC. It now provides optional ride arounds on a half dozen or more challenging rock slab/rolls. There are also a few new bermy segments that will add to the fun factor of this trail. But the main line on Cambodia still challenges with "old school" rooty, steep, rocky gnar. So, it is a solid black trail, and the optional harder sections are also legitimate double black. But the new trail design makes this trail more rideable to a wider range of skills. The trail is best matched up with the CBC trail which is slightly further up Mount Seymour and will make for a hugely fun day!

    I used to live in North Van. I rode in that area every now and then on a trail that I called Lumpy Gravy. Someone told me it was called that but I think it was this trail. That has to be 15 years ago now.

    WIth all of the grooming they have done to dumb the trail down to placate Metro this trail is no longer a black.

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99  4 месяца назад +1

      Maybe…but it’s harder than Expresso, Floppy Bunny or Kirkford - which are all black. So if you are going to re-rank Cambodia, then you’ve got to look at them all. But Cambodia is no longer the rough, janky original trail it once was.

    • @robrider838
      @robrider838 Месяц назад +1

      Do you ride all the double black main lines on Cambodia? Must be 6 of them with various levels of blackness.

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99  Месяц назад

      @@robrider838 I think I rode about 4 of the 6...there are two that are probably "hard" double black or even triple black. One doesn't even look like a line but I've see other riders actually ride it!! Thanks for watching!

    So Vietnam and Cambodia are not “secret” trails anymore? 20+ yrs ago, you had to be a regular, local rider or no one would tell you where the put-ins were.

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99  2 месяца назад +1

      Nope no secrets anymore but so many improvements! Great trails to ride once again! Thanks for watching!

      Very diff than 20 years ago. It is smoothed out a lot, with the exception of the rock rolls. The rock rolls are still tough, especially a couple side hits. But the rest of the trail is NSMBA’d (with direction from Metro), with berms (🤮). In other words, smoothed out. Drops are gone. Very different trail. If you want trails like Cambodia was only a few years ago, you will have to go elsewhere.

    • @bravo2zeroCAN
      @bravo2zeroCAN 2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks. Yeah it looks slick. I rode pretty much every weekend from 1999 to 2010, winters and all. Me & my riding buddy were told how to find it in 2005 or 2006, I think. It was epic. Grateful I had a Monster Triple up front. But I’m old & done. I loved it so much but it killed my knees and neck.

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99  2 месяца назад +1

      @@jasonwolfe9934 yea it’s not the same trail…but if you want the challenging Jank you can still find it at the bottom of Boogieman or on Cypress or Fromme!

    • @robrider838
      @robrider838 Месяц назад +1

      @@ronsanderson99That’s right. 10 double blacks on Fromme. But no one rides them because they are too busy complaining about one trail Expresso (which is now a work of art) being “dumbed down”.
