They object, and he says he's selling The Hotel and Saloon due to a conflict of interest. Lucas promises Mike he will push the new owner to keep him and asks Bill to arrange the legal sale.

I think Elizabeth turned back to Nathan because she was intimidated by Lucas. She prefers a man who is less educated and sophisticated than she is. That type is much easier to control.
