"these lens aren't that good "
Yea right and look at those red ring collection of course there not gonna be comparable
Dude I love your videos but....this was a terrible comparison video. You didn't even recommend any lenses after saying screw these lenses, or compare image quality at various apertures
So if neither of these are that great, which lens do you actually recommend?
I think that your choice is according you need. If you need wide and tele (multifunction), u should choose 18-135
The STM versions are both mechanically and optically better than the older versions. They have silent focusing for video use.
Sophie and Mimi, the Sigma 17-50 F2.8 lens is one to consider. It'll give you way better results than the 18-55.
ZY Productions how to determine if it is STM version?
Why didn't you say this in the video? How hard is this?
thank u for the nice video , as u said u don't refer either of these two lenses, for sharp photos.
Would u mind sharing , which lenses are good for sharp and do most of the jobs in a reasonable price? thanks
if you want sharp go for 135mm L
If not these 2, then which lens would you recommend for 80d
I would choose the 18-55, if you want a telephoto lens just buy the 55-250 stm instead
Not saying your wrong at all but I compared this lens to my Tamron 24-70 G2 and while it wasn't as sharp as the Tamron, it wasn't bad at all. You can get some very sharp shots with this lens.
You are correct. But you'd never know it from this video. It makes me wonder whether he ever even used these two lenses.
I have both lenses and speaking only for myself, I can honestly report that their performance is outstanding. One need only to do more homework right here on youtube and see the results that these lenses can and do produce. Thanks, Tony
Ya I've been using the 18-135mm for a year now and it's my go to camera for video work and normal photography but when I do serious work like weddings or photoshoot I switch to the 50mm 1.8
You are correct that both these lenses are plenty good enough for most photographers. I have them both. If you are a professional and can spend mucho money on gear (and write it off as a tax deduction), then by all means go for the red stripe.
@@MoejiiOsmanTV For weddings, I'm surprised you didn't say the 50mm 1.2. Low light shooting must be pretty common for weddings. Just wondering...
I use the 18-55 f4 from 28mm at f4.5 to 52mm at f5.6. In 35mm with f5.0 for general or portrait shots. At 40mm f5,6 or higher it´s really good. This has given me better results in terms of sharpness and image quality.
Thanks for sharing... What version do you use? Is it IS STM or IS II?
So if you don't like either lens. Then what lens do you recommend ?
We have 18-55mm IS STM as the latest version and it is way improved!! I use 18-55mm, and for higher focal length such as 100mm, I just buy 100mm 2.8 prime lens, and 50mm 1.8
if these two aren't worthy than which lense you'll recommend for Potraits, event low light group , landscape all in one lense??
This was really informative. Thanks for the detailed comparison! What lenses would you recommend instead?
Are you kidding? Detailed comparison?
what lenses do you suggest for professional use?
Thank you. You helped me with my choice.
chromatic aberation can be fixed in camera, and easily from raw... softness is soft forever
because of you I will buy nikon D5500 with 18-55 lens .. Ive been having hard time choosing between the two anyway thanks.
Thanks Buddy.
To be honest your assumption that both lenses aren't very good is incorrect. They are not L lens standard but you can get outstanding results with both lenses in the right conditions and if you know what your doing and the stm is again very good but not up to the standards of a usm lens.
You are correct on all points.
Bullshit! I use the 18 -55mm Canon lens and the 55-250mm lens both stm and they are amazing! i put some of the Pictures i took on EyeEm for everybody to see.
I agree with you. Both these lenses are very good. If the L lenses are a 100, these lenses are about a 90. That's plenty good for almost everything almost anyone needs. If you progress and then find these lenses lacking, then upgrade. Until then don't waste your money. Remember, the fish don't know how much you paid for your tackle.
Thanks bro thats very helpful
Hello there! Ask a question: Can the EFS 18-55mm lens be mounted on a Canon EOS 90D camera? Thank you!
Late reply but for others reading this..
EF-S lenses can only go on APSC DSLRs with EF mount.
EF lens, on the other hand, can go on full frame as well as APSC DSLRs with EF mount.
To answer your question, yes it will work l. In fact that EF-S lens has specifically been made for DSLRs like the 90D.
I second the question left by MimiRobotPanda 9 months ago: which zoom lenses would you recommend in place? I'm looking to get a Canon 750D and I'd be happy to just get the body and invest in a better lens (than opt for the 18-55mm as you suggest) :) Great video btw -- thanks!
Thanks, good review. I'm getting the 80D primarily for video. I'd like to upgrade the 18 - 55 lens that comes with it but I'm having a hard time finding something equivalent that has Image Stabilization. Any recommendations that has superior optics and IS but reasonably priced.
Get the 80d with the kit lens which will be STM.
Thanks, any opinion on the 10 - 18
Look at the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS (Optical Stabilization). It's around $350-400. Better than a kit lens. Canon has an equivalent for almost $800.
Which would you recommend for shooting short films along with doing photography (not in a studio). I am also thinking of buy the 50mm f/1.8 lens afterwards. Is it worth the money for the 18-135mm for what I am doing?
greenhippo31 The 18-135 is a really good lens when filmning! Not a perfect lens for photo. If you want good photos I would recommend the 40mm f2.8 or the ef-s 24mm f2.8! But for video, the 18-135 is wonderful! You can't get more realistic autofocus.
Which few lenses should I use if I have a Canon 70D and will be doing entry level wedding photography?
50mm 1. 8
Does the bride's mother know you are "entry level"?
so you recomend for me for making weeding 24-105 better than 18-135? so which lens do you recomend with a canon 80d
THANK YOU
Very helpful
U save my money.
now i'm more confused of what lens to buy
I'm not surprised. This video "review" is a waste of time.
I purposely did not buy the 18-135 when I bought my eos 80d. I had bad experiences with 28-135 and eos 40d. I did buy the 55-250 with my 80d, but I got it used for $125. I am looking for a zoom in the wider fl, perhaps the sigma 18-35 1.8 or the sigma 17-50 2.8. I also have ef 50 1.8 stm
Drake Leroy now whats your opinion on taking eos 80d with 18-135mm stm? Do you suggest me?
Hi. I just bought a Canon 80d and I need help with what is a good "sharp" photo lens to travel with? I just want one all-around lens to take photos of city landscapes, people, streets in general. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
18 - 135 it is
Which one is best canon eos 80d camera
would u suggest buying a used one
What "better quality lens would you recommend for an 80d instead of the low quality 18-55?
I need your help, I am planning to get the 600D and i have an option getting one with the lens EF-S 18-55 III DC or Lens EF-S 18-135 IS or lens EF-S 18-55 IS ll KIT which one do you think i should go for? I need camera for great image quality, I am not interested in zoom range .Thank you
Wow if I known what I have learnt recently I would have only bought the 200d body back then, a prime lens the nifty fifty and now looking for a zoom lens for sport shots on a budget probably second. Not sure if to go for a l lens, Usm lens or try to get canons 70-200 f4
Hi! Which one do you recommend me for indoor video with artificial light? Thanks!
I usually enjoy your reviews.
This time I was disappointed.
The majority of people doing photography and the amount times they use a camera would be very happy with either of these lens and think the photos they took were beautiful.
Plus most of these people could not afford the higher end lens and why should they
You are right on all points. Good response.
With the similar price, Is there any alternative for replacing 18-135mm?
I'd go with a Sigma 17-70 or a 17-50 2.8
Sigma 17-50 has focusing noise during video which sucks and also focusing is external , which often accidently contact with hand.
Hello ,
I want to buy a decent dslr i was thinking for a 700D, what do u think ? and which lens should i get for better results Budget around 50,000 INR or 780-800 $
thank you .. so which zoom lens is recommanded for nikon 3300 ? what do you think about the 55-200mm ? thank you
Do you have an opinion on the canon 10 - 18. It's about $275 US and is the focal length I'm looking for. I like having the IS feature.
+Marion Blair I have another video comparing the 10-18 to the 10-22. The 10-18 as of overall is a great lens for the price.
The 10-18 is nice.
Great video, finally i decide to go for 18-55! And btw if i can buy 18-55 DCIII for 100 less than 18-55 STM which one u think i have to buy? thanks
Paolo Ceraolo The STM. The DC motor breaks quite easily and I suppose the STM should be more reliable than the DC.
Thank you for your answer and your time! I think this is a question every newbie want to know before buying a canon. In my opinion a video DC Vs STM will satisfy lot of youtuber. Cya and good luck for your awesome channel. Ah I buyed STM!
what would you recommend???
James Chew I was wondering that too... If the conclusion of the review is "Both lens are mediocre", you(he) should point out what's best, good, or at least "fairly decent".
18-135 is better i would buy it used tho
+FMaz Agreed!! He's basically saying..hey both these lenses pretty much suck!! And just kind of leave us at that?!!!.. Would be nice if he could actually give us recommendation on what to buy..SMH.
i like this guy but we have to look at why hes talking down about it he has 3 L series lenses behind him i know you wrote this awhile ago but go with the 18-135 its a great lens i have used this lens for a while now and i wouldnt be afraid to pick it over my L lens
Can you recommend any particular bare lens as an upgrade from those 2 samples . Tx
You've saved my £205.
wich lenses do you recommend for a beginner filmmaker starting with a t5i ?
newer kits have ef-s 18-135 stm with image stabilization. i actually like the 18-135mm. it really is good for people starting out. you have the wide angle side at 18mm, and ok zoom at the 135 end. why is it good? because you have pretty much all the shooting options.
as you read up/watch more stuff about photography, you'll learn about prime lenses (fixed focal length aka no zoom) which basically have better picture quality, but at a fixed distance.
most will suggest going with either a 35mm or a 50mm as your first prime lens because it's a good representation of how your eyes see the world.
i went with the 50mm f1.8 (they have a new one with stm and better build) because it's inexpensive, but gives nice "bokeh" or background blur.
check out channels such as chris winter, for pretty objective reviews and demos for lenses and cameras. or if you want a laugh, digitalrev tv.
i'm speaking from experience, and hope this helps a little.
+sherylcopon Thank you very much!
Hi. I wanted to record indoor videos . Yoga and fitness.
Pl suggest me which one has more sharper and more best bookeh effect ?
18-55 or 18-135 for fuji xt30 camera ?
Dude... an f3.5-5.6 aperture it's not good for indoor situation, thus if you want a bokeh effect just buy a prime lens
what is all this micro motor STM stuff?
Micro motor from my knowledge are macro, soz, nikon user
It's about what kind of focusing mechanism is in the lens. Through the years the mechanisms have become much better. If you do any video, you had better find a lens that has silent auto focusing. You want a focusing motor that has no gears, i.e. you want ring-type USM if you can get it. It's the grinding of the gears that produce the focusing noise.
This vid was made for me omg thank you for this vid I'm going to to buy a camera tomorrow and this is helpful asf
What lense did you recommend? sorry I couldn't catch what you were saying
That's because he didn't recommend any lens. All he said is that you should spend more money.
Like for your sincerity
sir which lens is best for outdoor shoots 18-55 or 55-250 i am a beginner buying canon 1300d
Depends on what you need for zoom. I have both of those you mentioned.
For wide angle you would use 18-55.
For more zoomed in shots beyond 55mm you use the 55-250mm.
With only 50€ more, I can get a 18-135mm, so I'll do it :D
Sebastian Anghel "only"
yeah, i said that becouse usually there's a bigger price gap between those two kits
it is 250 bucks different here in Australi
yum :D
man they are colled milimetres not em em ! :))))) Any ways Good info , thanks and like !
Can you do a review about the Canon 40mm please?
Never mind, I can do it for him. The Canon 40 mm is not any good and you should invest in more expensive lenses. How's that? Glad I could help.
nice
Do u recommend buying 18 55 stm kit with 70d and 55 250 stm instead of 18 135 stm kit ?
That's where I'm at. I'm going with the 18-55 IS STM since I'll probably end up purchasing better lenses in the future.
@@MiteyMax9 That might make sense. The 18-55 will suit you well for a long time, and you don't need to move up until the lens no longer can do what you need. It takes a while to get to that point.
@@timothylatour4977 To give a 5 year update, definitely have upgraded lenses since then lol. But the 18 55 was a stellar purchase and still gets used to this day!
@@MiteyMax9 I think my son-in-law will be getting mine (for silent focusing video which he cannot do currently), and I will be using the 18-135. But the 18-55 has always been a very fine lens for my needs, and except for passing it down in the family I would be keeping it and using it.
Canon! Hire his kid!
Awesome 👌
Thank u for ur input
Which zoom lense is better for Canon Aps-c DSLR camera then
55-250mm
The 55-250 EF-S is very good.
dont agree at all!
I don't agree with him, either. And he didn't even mention that CA can be corrected in post, so it's not a big deal anymore. Useless "review."
three hundred bucks )
I hear strange shit @ 3:32 .
This "review" is about the worst lens review I've ever seen. Take a look at all the thumbs down if you don't believe me.
The only information you provided beyond simply the specs was the softness vs. CA. I don't need you to tell me that 135 is bigger than 55. And then the final conclusion is that both these lenses suck, and we should buy much more expensive lenses? Really? That's what you call a review? Sorry, take it somewhere else. You really phoned this one in.
your review not helpful
