- 3 Track Railroad Crossing With 2 Trains Passing! BIG Coke Train Passes CSX Intermodal Train. Engineer Gives A Wave & A Train Horn Salute Before Slamming The Railroad Diamonds In Deshler, Ohio. Includes A Caboose, A Steel Slabs Train & Union Pacific Railroad Locomotives. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Locomotives are included and trains with DPU locomotives included.
This is my first visit to Deshler, Ohio since they tore down the old train station. I filmed it last year just a week or so before they tore it down. See that video. The first train is an eastbound intermodal train. While I am filming it at the railroad crossing a coke train comes westbound on the other track. That was a massive loaded coke train there son! Two trains passing is always pretty cool, especially when you are standing next to them. The camera does a pretty good job of getting the action. After that train I take a look at an old Baltimore And Ohio Railroad bay window caboose on display in town. Then I show the ancient B&O color position lights that are still in use. There are not many of these left so you better film them while you can. We also check out the wye tracks.
Next, a westbound train with 2 Union Pacific locomotives hits the diamonds. This is a CSX intermodal train and you can see Scott @1960gambit filming it. I take a close look at some very heavy welded rail. Have you ever seen any that heavy? Leave a comment.
Then a southbound CSX steel slabs train comes through town and slams the diamonds. If you look closely you can see it drop the signal at about 20 minutes in. That just means that the signal goes to red as the train passes it. I just barely caught it on video so you will need to look close but it is their son. That is really cool and will be history some day.
The fifth train is an eastbound CSX intermodal hitting the diamonds. This train is led by a couple of BNSF locomotives. The engineer waves to the railfnas and the fast train gives a horn salute too. Is that awesome or what?! A shave and a haircut.
We also see some video filmed on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the JawTooth Compound. I found a small baby blue jay. It was on the ground eating sunflower seeds that fell out of the bird feeder. As I turned my camera on it flew up in the tree. We also see Norfie the cat. Mrs Tooth filmed her on the fence post before I filmed the baby bird. The bird eventually flew away into my field up in a tree far from the cat.
Filmed Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

What’s funny was at 6:47 that train horn sounded like a musical note
Indeed
That’s a neat house by the tracks in Deshler. Grill out while you’re watching trains go by.
Nice to start the weekend with great 👍 👌 train going by nice 👌 👍
I was in Deshler back in the early 60's. We were traveling from Detroit to Washington D.C. We changed trains in Deshler.
That 1960 Scott Gambit seems like a faithful companion. Thanks for another video, Brian.
Coke train just after a double stacked intermodal, sweet catch there, JT
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo comme toujours ! 👍🙏
I noticed that you got a horn salute from almost every train that passed through Deshler, Ohio. Those old color position signals are cool!
I love your videos and watch them everytime when I eat breakfast
Good day for intermodels, and horn salutes! Great train video. Thanks for the video
Thank you too!
This video really had all the bells and whistles, DPU, caboose ,coke , followed by steel, evidence of the dominance of Amazon, Walmart, Fedex….what a busy bunch of rails.
in Deshler. The last container train sounded like waves crashing on a beach! Thanks!!!!
Deshler, Ohio is one of my favorite towns for train-watching! I've been to this town a few years ago before the old station was torn down. I was lucky to see it long before they demolished it.
Great spot for train watching.
Thank you for the new views of Deshler, especially at the beginning of the video, Mullberry St crossing, hadn't seen that part of Deshler, I sleep with the Deshler VRF Live stream, I love this spot, always so busy
That was an awesome shoot, 2 for the price of one. A nice long intermodal and a coke train bonus. Nice luck JT.
thanks
Jaw Tooth works hard to be so lucky.
JT this was one of your many awesome videos, great job 👍👍
That Coke express comes through our side of Ohio too! I see it all the time… we’re in Struthers ,Ohio by the PA border
Awesome!
They recently moved that caboose to that spot around 2022 because of the about of beatings it was taking by disrespectful people, they wanted to keep a better eye on it and also fix it up, it used to sit south in Deshler near a park I believe.
Deshler is my favorite RR roadtrip destination.
Morning! Love that shirt you’re wearing!! God bless
BNSF always has some of the best looking power on the rails. They must take very good care of their equipment. I like that huge grain elevator in the background also. Just imagine the number of bushels they can store there. 😊😊😊
Great catch on the vintage signals ...rare sight ...kool! Heartland u.s.a ...
2 HORN SALUTES !! WOW!! YOUR SO SPECIAL
Great to see the railroad diamonds
of Deshler, OH. especially after the
old depot was torn down, this is a
very nice place to watch the trains
especially on the webcams, also great
to see your pets in your videos and in
this video we get to see your cat here
Thank You for another great video and
Thank You Jaw Tooth.🤠👍
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Always love hotspots with diamonds, Deshler is one of many great railfan locations. Refreshing to see old CPL signals still in use, enjoy them before they are replaced. Cool horn salute”Shave and a haircut” from that BNSF powered intermodal. Nice work Jawtooth. Cute blue jay too.
haven't time to watch all but thumbs up
Great horn shows from the csx crew
For anyone interested there’s a virtual railcam for Deshler.
You got some great action here today JT. Thanks.
That intermodal is I016, headed to Chambersburg, PA. My neck of the woods.
This crossing of two long trains is captivating! 😀 The first container train has 81 platforms, then 1 DPU and finally 73 platforms. I counted the cars on the coke train from the moment the first train left the field of vision. I counted 135, but many more are obscured by the passage of the first train.
A good day for trains! Great video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Man omg what a great catch I love that Coke express !!!!!
Cool container train with the DPU and even cooler coke train meeting them! Good catch JT! 😊😊😊
A was watching a NS train yesterday at the Spurr Road crossing on the Rat Hole Line and the the engineer gave me a Two-Toot- Salute. Seems they are pretty good a acknowledging railfans.
Deshler is a great place to railfan hope to go back soon
Super video today JT! You always amaze me. 😊😊😊
They emptied the yard for that 1st train!
Ton of train 🚂 salutes!!!! ❤it !!!
What an absolutely awesome steel train! There were some massive slabs of steel on there. I can't believe there wasn't a DPU on that train, as heavy as it was. Coolest train I've seen in a long time. Thanks 👍 JT! 😊😊😊😊😊
Hey jaw,, where is the coke train going to?
Those are slabs cast at butler pa. Caster.
@smokeandsteamxsw9831 The coke is destined to Chicago for steel making.
I like the happy face building in Deshler. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Love those meets
Deshler, OH, pop.1588 ( 2023 ), rails 141 lbs / yard, rolled 2005.
Thanks for the fast facts.
Complete with "diamond" rail & "Y" interchange.
Lightning bolt = AC powered.
Baltimore and Ohio color position railroad signalling . 🚦
No icon for that ❤
The fascinating sound of a railroad diamond :) Almost mesmerizing. Some nice trains through Deshler which makes it a decent railfan location I think.
So great video! Have a nice weekend my friend! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you! Cheers!
@JawTooth In case nobody has replied, the Toledo division was upgraded to electricode and all of the CPLs were replaced in the early 1990s with new installations. This was before the decision was made to standardize on the color light signals. At first, they were replacing CPLs with C&O format signal system, then they decided on the Seaboard format. Yes, they may look the same, but they are different in very significant ways. They MUST be interpreted correctly!
Awesome video and loved the coke train and loaded steel train JT !!!
Good video Jawtooth
U could almost call that train a j b hunt, Schneider train 😊
Do you normally travel alongside the Toledo sub when you go to Deshler? There are plenty of old B&O CPL signals left between Deshler and Lima. And a diamond with NS at Leipsic, just south of Deshler. Cairo, OH has a "lap" siding right in the middle of town.
Nice horn salute JT! Great video!
Thanks!
Nicely done JT
Very cool on the first train how the containers were mostly the same company at the beginning. All JB Hunt, Schneider, Prime CSX etc. usually see them all mixed up. Thanks for sharing as always! But wait, Love the Coke train too. Especially the Coke Express cars!
Great live action JT, lovin’ the videos!
Appreciate it!
Awesome video with a horn salute but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
As I've said before, JT, your Ohio videos are terrific, but -- this one, in particular -- is superb. Deshler looks to be a fabulous place to visit...not only for the railroad locations, but for the many wonderful scenes (you've shown) around town. Those former B&O position-light signals are priceless...they've even retained the decorative finials atop the masts! Back when I lived in Athens (OH) along the now-defunct B&O main, there was a beautiful position-light mast just south of B&O's Union Depot, passed by trains on the single-track line just as they ran beneath the concrete U.S. 50 overpass...awesome memories. Very cool presentation...👌👌👍👍
Nice wave for the conductor JT. Love it how you fly the flag in the US, do it here in the UK and you get moaned at !
I noticed the same the first time I traveled to Canada. Someone else's flag tends to stick out when your own blends into the scenery out of familiarity.
First time I've seen those types of railcars hauling all that steel.
The cat is thinking, Dad why did you make that baby bird move? You scared away my afternoon snack.
Excellent video JT. Very surprised by the lack of any DPU's on the Coke and slab trains. With that kind of tonnage you would think they'd be in use to reduce the weight on the lead locomotive draw bars. Keep up the live action!
The coke train didn't need a DPU as coke is less than half the weight of a similar volume of coal.
Because of how the train is handled in Chicago, it would be a time-consuming and unnecessary move to reposition the DPU power.
Hey JawTooth
Another AWESOME video
I forgot to go check out the caboose once the trains started running back to back! 😣
I love the horn salutes. Nice Videos
Thanks!
Jaw Tooth watching enjoying and awesome video again and enjoy the side show too AWESOME Jaw Tooth 👍😃😎♥️♥️
Thanks again!
Awesome catch as always jaw tooth.
7:00 Nice Catch
💗💕💞💖 Amazing and Awesome video friend nice filming how the blue jay and I enjoyed watching ♥️🥰❤❤
Thank you 🤗
Amazing that long coke train was only pulled by two locomotives.
Coke is a little less than half the weight of coal.
I didn't know where Deshler was, but my dad, who grew up in the region, knew its location. You were out in the NW cornfields! 😂
Great video. I'm surprised momma bluejay wasn't dive bombing you...
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Excellent Video
🥀🚂🇮🇳🥀🚂
Hi there, there are some of those old signals still in use at the train station in Paoli PA. Love your vids , been watching for about a year. Keep em coming.
You love Deshler, Mr. Tooth, like so many of us do. Great stuff.
Hey jaw tooth great location. A railfan would have a great time there. lots of live action. Have a great railroad day 🙋♀️🚂
Thanks! You too!
Very nice. This video was taken the day before I went.
Cool, thanks
Hello Jaw, again a very nice video. A question about the containers. Some of these are much longer, longer than 40 feet. Have a nice weekend together. Greetings from Germany Wolfgang
Yes, correct
Those containers are domestic US containers, 53 feet in length and the same as the legal length for highway semi-trailers (lorries) here. Given their non-standard length compared to international containers, those don't travel outside of North America, but they are equipped with mounting points for stacking atop 40-foot containers.
I saw some signal lights that looked like that on a video from Rivanna Railfan, they are near Brookneal, Virginia.
Yes, The video shot by J.T.is priceless, timeless treasure!!!!
That was a first for me. To see a complete slab train. Steven Sipes
thanks for watching!
I noticed the propane tanks by the side of the tracks. Do they use switch heaters out there? Great video, JT.
Yes.
Got nice a train knock down B&O single there so cool
Surprised the Coke Express train didn't have a DPU, it was long full of heavy trucks... fantastic train nevertheless. Great spot to film trains, JT. Hope you got at least one coming around that bend, that would be awesome! Love ya cat, she's gorgeous and quite the character! Nice shot of the Blue Jay chick, too.
Coke is 2/3 the weight of coal. May be the reason there was no dpu.
@@verneord Ah, thanks... I was wondering what the difference was! I thought coke was coal.
Coke is a bi-product of coal. Coal is superheated in the absence of oxygen to drive off impurities, leaving a pure carbon product that is an essential steel making ingredient.
@@verneord Actually coke is 1/2 the weight of coal.
I stand corrected 😊
🐈Norfy the coolest cat evver, lol.🐱 thanks voor de video, have a nice weekend with the familie. DAnk je wel. greetz:🍐Peer.
VirtualRailFan has a camera there. I’ll be watching new videos to see if they show any of that action.
Darn. Dash 8 Blocked By Another Train
FYI folks, good eats at Deshler Lanes. Damn good pizza especially!
Awesome video keep up the good work and be safe out there.
Seeing a lot of those Amazon Prime containers recently!
Damm, I hate it when I'm in my Bobcat and have to wait for a passing train.........😁
I was just up here about a month ago for the daily noon fire siren test and I saw a train while I was there, 2 things I like at once! nice video!
Very cool!
@@JawTooth thanks!
your videos are really fun to watch
Too bad that they tore down the old station, it could have made a great rail fan visitor's center.
Great video with lots of horn salutes. You must be famous!😅
Thank you very much!
Such a pity they hadn't put the caboose on a short piece of track!
Good Morning Jaw Tooth.
Great Catches
Busy location and a nice town for videos
Deshler is good place great train salutes plenty of action great video thanks Jaw tooth and Scott 1960 Gambit
Big boy territory
150+ coke cars, 2 engines and no DPUs!
Then 75 cars carrying 4 steel slabs each, AGAIN 2 locos & no DPUs!
Hey there jaw tooth like your train videos, wanted to ask if you could get a closer video of the diamond crossing while train is going over it. Thank you and keep up the good pictures.
I like it when you post long videos and the CSX trains you film in Dehlser Ohio. Have a nice long and relaxing weekend to you sir. One more Question to ask you, were you born in the 1950s or the 1960s? See you later in the next long train video.
Thank you very much! I was born in 61
