Just like the diamonds you're the center of attention. That town actually is worthy of a small Railroad Park. Coal. Intermodal. General freight Even the local on a little used line alll keep the day hopping at Muncie
Hey Jawtooth it’s really great to see all those young rail fans doing something great like train watching and videoing instead of getting into who knows what kind of trouble or even drugs.
Hey Jaw Tooth! How do you fellas get to Muncie? You drive a short bus? Is there federal money involved in this project? I’m in if the money’s right. Mush pay well with 5-6 on the same trip. We used to call it Camp Cheerful up here in Cleveland. Really wonderful for the kids. They loved their time at camp. Glad you’re into the job. You are a dedicated volunteer, and we need more men like you, picking up the slack in social services these days. Stay safe. No speed gun, no train lengths either. Too complicated? I thought it would give you something interesting to do for all of those interminable hours spent scanning for large metal diesel engines. God Bless your work. 〽️🇺🇸🌞
That Diamond in Muncie is a great venue for railfanning! Great angles, lots of traffic, and a gorgeous American downtown! Muncie looks like a Hoosier paradise. Keep up the great work. Nice! If your ever in Mechanicsburg, OH They got a old locomotive that says heritage cooperative, the train line ends right there at the heritage cooperative, I think trains go thru there every once in a while, i’d be cool if you caught one since it’s very rare for people to film trains there, the line used to extend out to Columbus in the 90s but now it ends there.
I lived in West Prestonsburg, Ky in the summer of 80 and I remember that. There was a coal branch only 20 feet from my bedroom window. That branch to David is now long gone. That summer I had a drunk driver hit me head on in Pikeville
Sorry to hear about the drunk driver incident. I worked underground as a laborer while attending Pikeville College. Would take a window seat in the student union at the top of the hill and watch in amazement the number of trains coming and going through town. Today, the main line runs through the mountain cut with the river and interstate.
The railfan gathering at Muncie, Indiana on 23 August 2023 was an enormous success judging by this video, Jaw Tooth! There was a wide selection of both Norfolk Southern and CSX trains in the video. It was interesting to watch the Norfolk Southern local stop to allow the CSX train to pass and then for the Norfolk Southern local to get the green light to cross the CSX tracks to continue its work. That lone Norfolk Southern engine heading west on that spur that comes off the main Norfolk Southern track was a wonderful surprise. Did that engine come back later with some cars while the railfan group was this present to observe it?
I've only ever DRIVEN through Muncie Indiana but your trains are hitting right there in Newcastle and other towns too. Your trains are coming out of my neck of the woods quite a bit these days, but I'm stuck with the long hairs in California!! One of these days I'll get back home and meet all you folks and see LOTS of trains!
Looking Is a Lot of Australian sheep dog he. Is using his instinct to herd around the goats he would be. A good herder and protector if he was in with them and got used to them
I am very surprised that railroads don't build railfan platforms next to the tracks for people to watch trains from. How cool would that be? I love the content and keep the trains coming! 😀
Some municipalities do that, but railroads aren't tourist or entertainment companies, and there's no money in that. Worse, if they build a platform for railfans and someone gets hurt screwing around on it or a crime happens there the railroad may get sued over it. Railroads already get sued when some jerk ignores the law, runs a crossing gate and gets T-boned by a train, so adding to the ways to get sued is not gonna get the nod from management.

I am surprised that the crossing in Muncie is a no horn zone. So many different ways for trains to cross that road.
Coal train is movin on down the line! Reminds me of the mid 1970s in Pikeville, Kentucky. Fast coal trains every 30 minutes, 24 hours per day.
