- Norfolk Southern Train Waits For CSX Train To Cross The Diamonds, Train Horn Salutes For Railfans & Big Coal Train Books Over The 4 Track Railroad Crossing! These trains are in Muncie, Indiana at a favorite Railfan location. A local railroad switching freight crosses the diamonds and it is the same Norfolk Southern train that I filmed in New Castle, Indiana. That video was posted a few days ago.
I rode up here with Scott, 1960gambit and Ben, SD70AH on a Wednesday morning. We stopped at New Castle, Indiana first and this video starts after that. Right when we got to Muncie there was an eastbound CSX manifest approaching. We see it cross the railroad crossing and then slam the diamond with Norfolk Southern. This is a no train horn zone. Notice the big group of railfans who showed up!
Next we see a local freight show up running long hood forward. We had already filmed this train in New Castle. This Norfolk Southern local had to wait for a westbound CSX train first. We got an awesome train horn salute from the CSX manifest. Check out the view that I got of it crossing the diamond. That looks awesome! The Norfolk Southern local crossed the diamonds right after the CSX train passed.
After that we see a fast CSX cool train booking on past us running westbound. That was a long one! It appears to be empty but has 3 big locomotives. Count the cars and leave a comment below.
Next, we have a Norfolk Southern intermodal train crossing the diamonds. Check out the horn salute that the railfans got. That was pretty cool. This is a no train horn zone so any horns you hear in this video are horn salutes for railfans. This train had 3 locomotives and the middle unit is a leased locomotive that comes from Wells Fargo Rail. After that train passes we see a closeup of my radio with the best two frequencies to use at this location. 161.355 is the best frequency for Norfolk Southern and 160.800 is the best frequency to use for CSX. I rarely use more than two frequencies at a time because if there is a lot of chatter going on it can get confusing and you will miss a signal called out or a defect detector activation.
The final movement is the Norfolk Southern local passing us again at the railroad crossing. This is the first time that I have filmed a movement other than railroad maintenance of way equipment on that track. That was pretty cool.
The pets are next followed by the slide show that comes from this video. Thanks for your support!

Muncie is a fab place to watch trains, always something going on & you can get up close to film, great video again JT. ❤😊
So true!
Cool train and a long one. How awesome 👍😊 You got yourself some railfans company here.Nice salute toot! ❤Love that NS locomotive. 😊Loki sure has grown to be quite a beautiful puppy dog. Sweet fur babies. Have a great day Mr JT.😊😊😊
Thank you very much!
Great catch there JawTooth awesome videos.👍🏻 Have a great day and enjoy 🚂🫵
Even the Nerds picked on me because I was a model railroader. And a rail fan. LOL Those guys remind me of me in the old days. 70's
This location in Muncie seems quite strategic, judging by the number of fans filming. Great variety of traffic!
Several rail lines come together right here and there are a lot of trains
There is a place in Muncie where the train coming or going to Ft Wayne does a complete 180 a horseshoe curve. And it also crosses the same river three times
Muncie is a producer of Automotive / Agricultural gearbox and P T.O ( power-take-off ) applications too, lets not forget !
A respected supplier / fabricator (s), not just railfanning, btw - greetings from New Zealand, l.o.l ❤😊 PS - I am on their mailing list 😂
It almost makes me wonder if they're looking to restore passenger service as well. I know Columbus, Ohio wants to do that.
@@JawToothtoo bad that NS was so short!!
Awesome video with a horn salute but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
From the time I was a little girl I’ve been fascinated by anything that’s made of steel, burns fuel, and moves. I love freight trains especially.
great train video bro
good work
Fabulous...! There's a lot of wheels going over those diamonds....
Thanks for watching !
Just like the diamonds you're the center of attention. That town actually is worthy of a small Railroad Park. Coal. Intermodal. General freight Even the local on a little used line alll keep the day hopping at Muncie
Very true! Great place for railfans 😊
I'm glad see you had some helpers at that crossing, it's good to see railfans
I am impressed, such a happy occasion, so glad J.T welcomed them on his channel ! L.O.L 😊

Hi JT you get a lot train action wonderful videos thanks JT love your pets too heart ❤❤❤
Glad you like them!
Great video today JT! 😊😊 Love ❤❤ the pets!!
Great video. Plenty of action. Diamonds and crossing add to making it super. Thank you.
I like how you are driving through these busy cities and towns.
The puppy's reaction to the bubbles was so funny!🤣
Really.... Cool.... Video! Loved the photo of all the railfans at the very end.❤
Hey Jawtooth it’s really great to see all those young rail fans doing something great like train watching and videoing instead of getting into who knows what kind of trouble or even drugs.
Watching long trains go by is mind numbing enough!
Chessie and Norfie, the most adorable dogs you will ever see
Norfie is a feline 🐈 🤣
@@vernonmatthews181 I stand corrected
@@nimblehealer199 No problem, Dogs names 1/Chessie ( part blue healer ), Sophie, Brandy and the puppy is Loki ( blue eyes ).
Norfie the cat 🐈 ( black ) was an adopted stray some 18 months ago.
J.T had little Norfie ( speyed ) desexed about 12 months ago.
Brian will elaborate further to his pets, having observed them all before & over the global Covid crisis whilst enjoying what J.T channel has to offer, l.o.l 💚🐈⬛
Great action. Lots of folks enjoying the action,2 great horn salutes!! AWESOME,❤ to the pups and Norfie
Thanks 👍
The railfan action rivalled the train action. Excellent video, enjoyed it greatly. Thanks JT!
Thank you very much!
Great video JT. That site seems to be quite busy. About as busy as Loki with those bubbles...
I'm early to the show.Thumbs Up! Now it's time to watch.
Well, Muncie looks to be a pretty nice railfanning area :) NS and CSX trains rolling through and there are some railroad diamonds as a bonus!
Wow! Señor Jaws. Diamonds. Crossovers. Literally tons of railfans. Trains en todas partes. Everything seems to be fine in Muncie, Indiana. It gets my vote for new home of the USA Federal Government, or at least, capitol of Indiana, or at the very least, capitol of Muncie... maybe its own kingdom. Ya just can't hardly do no mo' better than this... especially on a Sunday. Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Puebla, México... Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thanks for watching and have a great Sunday!
Gosto muito seus vídeos.

Another great video, thanks for braving the heat! Stay safe, stay cool. Thanks for the video
Thank you for posting. Your videos are awesome.
Nice ❤️ 👌 👍 trains today good old Dimond 👌
Incredible rail fan site.
That mixed freight was a long train to see in Indiana. In my experience I rarely see one with more than 100 cars. 😊😊
Scope out Griffith, IN when you get a chance. They grow them much bigger than 100 round these parts.
Amazing video jt
Muncie is a cool location plenty of action with diamonds great video thanks Jaw tooth
Like the CSX hat Jawtooth, that's a cool 😎 place to film at the CSX & NS diamonds, looked like older EMD power on the head end of first CSX, maybe SD70MAC,and good footage as usual!🛤🚂
Thanks for your comments!
Ich find die züge und auch die Dieselloks in den usa einfach mega... Du macht echt gute Videos... Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland/ Sachsen
Nice! If your ever in Mechanicsburg, OH They got a old locomotive that says heritage cooperative, the train line ends right there at the heritage cooperative, I think trains go thru there every once in a while, i’d be cool if you caught one since it’s very rare for people to film trains there, the line used to extend out to Columbus in the 90s but now it ends there.
Yes you can always count on awesome live action with a jaw tooth video.
Very cool video. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
I'm quite a fan of trains
That pickup truck...jeez. "Drive it like you stole it"
I've only ever DRIVEN through Muncie Indiana but your trains are hitting right there in Newcastle and other towns too. Your trains are coming out of my neck of the woods quite a bit these days, but I'm stuck with the long hairs in California!! One of these days I'll get back home and meet all you folks and see LOTS of trains!
Looking Is a
Lot of Australian sheep dog he. Is using his instinct to herd around the goats he would be. A good herder and protector if he was in with them and got used to them
I am very surprised that railroads don't build railfan platforms next to the tracks for people to watch trains from. How cool would that be? I love the content and keep the trains coming! 😀
They’d rather rail fans stay away?
Some municipalities do that, but railroads aren't tourist or entertainment companies, and there's no money in that. Worse, if they build a platform for railfans and someone gets hurt screwing around on it or a crime happens there the railroad may get sued over it. Railroads already get sued when some jerk ignores the law, runs a crossing gate and gets T-boned by a train, so adding to the ways to get sued is not gonna get the nod from management.
There is a platform in Fostoria Ohio...also Plant City Florida and I believe Valdosta Ga.
@@LeeDfinedfolkston Georgia too.
Diamonds are a train's best friend.
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
I am surprised that the crossing in Muncie is a no horn zone. So many different ways for trains to cross that road.
Wow, You had a busy day
Good afternoon I enjoyed the video👍👍
The railfan gathering at Muncie, Indiana on 23 August 2023 was an enormous success judging by this video, Jaw Tooth! There was a wide selection of both Norfolk Southern and CSX trains in the video. It was interesting to watch the Norfolk Southern local stop to allow the CSX train to pass and then for the Norfolk Southern local to get the green light to cross the CSX tracks to continue its work. That lone Norfolk Southern engine heading west on that spur that comes off the main Norfolk Southern track was a wonderful surprise. Did that engine come back later with some cars while the railfan group was this present to observe it?
Enjoyable video 😎😊👌👍!
Great video JT!

Great video of trains going over the diamond, and would you prefer to video CSX or Norfolk Southern trains?
@Southernproductions694 you know it, I just want to let you know that I subscribed your channel.
Ok Thanks for the support I really appreciate it
I wondered if that was the same local, I'm glad you provided that information
Nice freight trains 👍🚂
Coal train is movin on down the line! Reminds me of the mid 1970s in Pikeville, Kentucky. Fast coal trains every 30 minutes, 24 hours per day.
I lived in West Prestonsburg, Ky in the summer of 80 and I remember that. There was a coal branch only 20 feet from my bedroom window. That branch to David is now long gone. That summer I had a drunk driver hit me head on in Pikeville
Sorry to hear about the drunk driver incident. I worked underground as a laborer while attending Pikeville College. Would take a window seat in the student union at the top of the hill and watch in amazement the number of trains coming and going through town. Today, the main line runs through the mountain cut with the river and interstate.
Huh, never expected to randomly come across a video by chance with NS 4411, very cool. 4411 was my first AC44C6M on the UP
Wonderful content.! Im heading to Muncie later today. Is this a good spot to sit and watch for a few hours? Im not from there area.

That was a great day of rail fanning JT. The puppy's is now as big as chessie?
I just got excited seeing another Jaw tooth video. ❤

Love your videos man!
If you want to see a neat Diamond in the middle of town , travel to Seymour, IN CSX runs auto rack cars mostly through the town , there is a diamond in town with a nice little park beside the diamond . Also Seymour is the home place of music artists John Mellencamp
Sounds great! I have filmed trains there and I have been wanting to get back there soon
10:59 Big Watertower there!

Awesome video Jaw Tooth. Looking forward to Part 2. This is a very busy lone. Hope to see more in the future. Have you checked out a place in Westfield NY? If I remember correctly you can have a picnic by the train line, don't remember which train runs on it, but when you get a chance check it out and see if you like it. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Nice great catch M313 SD70MAC leader just caught a couple of em in upstate New York and just uploaded my first video of the two yesterday
Hey Jaw Tooth! How do you fellas get to Muncie? You drive a short bus? Is there federal money involved in this project? I’m in if the money’s right. Mush pay well with 5-6 on the same trip. We used to call it Camp Cheerful up here in Cleveland. Really wonderful for the kids. They loved their time at camp. Glad you’re into the job. You are a dedicated volunteer, and we need more men like you, picking up the slack in social services these days. Stay safe. No speed gun, no train lengths either. Too complicated? I thought it would give you something interesting to do for all of those interminable hours spent scanning for large metal diesel engines. God Bless your work. 〽️🇺🇸🌞
That Diamond in Muncie is a great venue for railfanning! Great angles, lots of traffic, and a gorgeous American downtown! Muncie looks like a Hoosier paradise. Keep up the great work. You always get a like box from me. 1st thing I watch everyday. Trains are comforting in a strange world. Nice sounds and visuals. And you’re the best conductor I’ve ever seen. ✝️💜🇺🇸
Caught the same three engines Northbound 24X in Pelham NC coming from Atlanta GA headed to Jersey City NJ on 8-26-23. 😮

Interestingly, I was going to ask you if you were ever able to film a train on the other NS track running parallel to the CSX. Then, there is one (although only a locomotive!).
